Bookah
From Guild Wars Wiki
This article is about the Asuran word. For the cinematic of the same name, see Bookah (cinematic).
"Bookah" is a label or term that the Asura use to refer to inferior beings. To an Asura, that essentially means everyone who is not Asura. It is also the name of a large, loud, bellowing, and dumb make-believe monster that Asura tell to frighten Asuran children.
“Dialogue from the Bookah cutscene
—
- Vekk: "Bookah? It's an imaginary monster we use to frighten children."
- Vekk: "They're big, clumsy creatures with loud, bellowing voices. Not too bright, either"
- Player: "And humans are like this to you?"
- Vekk: "Well, if the bellowing fits."
Notes
- Bookah also may be a reference to Jotuns.
- Bookah also may be a reference to the Japanese word "baka" or "bakemono" meaning "idiot" or "monster", or the Polish cartoon character Buka, which is a giant monster that grunts and scares families.
