Candy Cane Shards are fragments of striped candy cane that drop from slain creatures during the annual Wintersday event. They can be used to make Candy Cane weapons, or be exchanged for a Wintersday Gift.

• During Wintersday, all slain PvE creatures have a chance to drop a Candy Cane Shard, in addition to their normal drops.

Other

• Participating in Dwayna Vs Grenth or Dwayna Vs Grenth automated tournament will earn 3 and 7 shards for each win, respectively.
• There is approximately a 5% chance of getting 10 shards from a Wintersday Gift.

Notes

• Candy Cane Shards also drop in pre-Searing Ascalon, even though there aren't any Candy Cane Smiths or Gift Givers in this part of the game. Players interested in using these shards to acquire Candy Cane weapons or Wintersday Gifts must arrange to mule the items or manually carry them to post-Searing Ascalon.
• During Wintersday 2006 a collector for shards was added after the finale.
• In Wintersday 2007, the Candy Canes Collectors were added in the beginning of the event, being available at all decorated towns.

Trivia

• Prior to Wintersday 2010, many of the Wintersday quests introduced before Wintersday 2010 awarded Candy Cane Shards instead of Wintersday Gifts.
• In the decorated towns prior to the December 15, 2011 update, you received 1 shard for picking up a Present and giving it to a Young Child. This update also removed the ability to acquire a Winter Gift, which had approximately a 5% chance of getting 1 shard from.
