Hero flag
[edit] Moving heroes
Below the compass, there are icons of four flags and the cancel sign. To set a destination for a group, left-click once on their flag, and then click where you want your hero to go; locations can be selected on the compass, the Mission map, or any visible terrain. The hero will run to that destination and stay there as long as the flag is there. To remove the flag, double-click the icon. When you remove a flag, the group immediately returns to your location (or to the flag with three dots if you set it).
When the group moves to the destination, they automatically take the shortest path. Sometimes they can get caught on an object or the terrain and stop moving. If this happens, reposition or cancel the flag to get them unstuck. You can avoid this problem by placing points along the way to more precisely navigate. If you set a flag too far, usually anywhere outside of compass range, the group ignores it.
[edit] Party members affected
The flags only direct the group of party members under your control. Each party member always has control over their own heroes; however, if a party member leaves, their heroes stay in the game and become the control of the next person down in the Party window. The leader at the top of the party list controls all henchmen, and if they leave, control is reassigned the same way.
Therefore, you control:
- Your own heroes.
- The heroes of anyone directly above you who left the game.
- Henchmen if you are the highest person on the list.
You can use up to four flags to set groups at different places. The first flag (with three dots) affects all heroes and henchmen under your control. Each of the other three flags has a number beside it, indicating your heroes in order going down the list; each one obeys their own flag before the control-all flag. Clicking the cancel icon removes all flags, and the group will return to the player.
If another party member has left and you control their heroes, they respond only to the control-all flag, like henchmen.
[edit] Flagging henchmen only
To flag henchmen but not heroes, use "Flag All", use each individual hero flag, and then cancel each hero flag; your heroes will follow you while the henchmen stay at the "Flag All" flag.
