Prolific and belligerent, amphibious heket are a nuisance to anyone traveling across Elona. These creatures thrive in water, but prefer to survive in arid areas. The farther they’re found from their spawning grounds, the darker the days ahead will be. No matter where they claim their territory, heket spawn in alarming quantities. From the moment they’re born, they savage each other as they compete for the few resources in the area. The crude concept of bashing someone on the head for food is instinctual, and heket become more aggressive as they grow larger. Once a region cannot support any more heket, they lurch from their breeding grounds searching for food. By the time a band of them begins attacking human travelers, exterminating them is a public service.

2. Unlike most members of their professions, these heket are melee attackers.

In Kourna, heket are often accompanied by Drakes. Heket rangers usually have the Elder Crocodiles as their pets.

Notes

• The quest For Your Ears Only shows that Heket are able to speak the Tyrian language.
• Even though She Hungers is a Nightfall quest, you can obtain the Juicy Heket Legs necessary to complete that quest from Eye of the North areas as well.
• The Heket in Eye of the North, with the exception of the Cuicani, have unusual armor rating:
  • Amini have 20 less armor against physical damage than a Warrior usually does.
  • Nahualli have 14 more armor than a Ritualist usually does.
  • Tlamatini have 20 more armor than a Mesmer usually does.
• With the exception of chests, only Heket creatures can drop Heket Axes.

• Heqet was a frog-goddess in ancient Egypt.
• The second word of the heket names in Guild Wars Eye of the North seems to be taken from the Aztec Nahuatl language. Roughly translated, "Amini" means "hunter," "Tlamatini" means "wise man," "Nahualli" means "evil magician" or "warlock," and "Cuicana" means "singer."
• The name Hylek is probably a reference to the frog family Hylidae commonly referred to as "tree frogs".
