While the Ancient Coffer appears in the Vehjin Mines regardless of whether the Coffer of Joko quest is active, it only has a significant purpose during that quest; it is 'opened' by Assistant Jenahn, causing a Scythe of Chaos to appear. Once hostiles in the area are eliminated and the next stage of the quest updates, the Ancient Coffer will give the player the Scriptures of Abaddon.
