Guild Wars 2 Suggestions

(Discussion)

In the original Guild Wars, the ranger had an attribute of beast mastery. I would like to suggest this as an entirely different profession. The “Beast Master” could be more like a player who has a certain “feral” nature who is practically like an animal himself. They would have a pack that follows them having maybe up to five animals in it who would act in the same way as pets did in the original Guild Wars; having the option to attack, guard, or heel. Now I know right about know you are thinking this is a retarded idea and that it is way too overpowered, let me clarify. Each “beast” would level on an individual basis, meaning they gain experience in a similar way to players. Whenever a “pack” would attack one random pack member would gain the experience. (Example: A pack of five attacks a level fourteen mergoyle and wins. One random member of that pack would gain experience, if the random pack member is level three it gains 280 exp, If it is level thirteen it gains 120 exp, and if it were level 19 it would gain 16 exp.) Having “beasts” level this way would make it so that you couldn’t easily obtain a pack of level twenties and kill everything without actually having anything pose a real threat to you, only to your “beasts”. Also their damage range is also reduced. Instead of having a non-critical damage range of 17-29 at level 20 it would have a non-critical damage range of 5-15 at level twenty and a critical hit range of 15-25 instead of the original 24-41. As for the character himself, he would be part animal. He would have fangs, claws, talons, wings, etc… Upon creation he would have three options; he could A. Choose a Canid Path, B. Choose a Feline Path, or C. Choose an Avian Path. If he chose to take a canid path, he would have a pack of dogs or wolves and would be on the way of becoming a sort of in between of the human and canine race, eventually being able to turn into a wolf at will. If he were to choose a feline path, he would have a pride of cats, tigers, or lions and would be on the way to becoming the human link to the feline race, eventually being able to become a lion on command. If he were to choose an avian path, he would have a flock of ravens, hawks or eagles and would be on his way to becoming the go between of the human and bird world, eventually being able to turn into an eagle at will. He would have four attributes: Feral Nature, Ferocity, Instinct, and Beast Lore. Feral Nature would be the primary attribute, increasing damage done by your natural weapon (fangs and claws for canines and felines, claws and talons for avians). The skills in it would include the form shifting spells (labeled as Morphs) and a few attacks. Ferocity has no inherent affect, but contains many offence enhancing skills and most attacks. Instinct would increase the time that you are morphed by three seconds per rank, and would contain all self heals available to the Beast Master and many defense related skills. Beast Lore would increase the number of beasts you can have in your pack. At zero Beast Lore you could have up to two, three at rank three, four at rank six, five at rank nine, six at rank twelve, and seven maximum at rank fifteen (this is assuming they keep the same way of attributes and level caps, which will probably be changed, so these would have to be adapted to fit the new system). Beast Lore would contain only a couple skills that heal your pack, increase their attack/run speed, or give them a slight chance to dodge. The way this would work is that say a spell will heal the pack for fifty health, and there are five pack members, each member will receive an even share of the health/increased speed/chance to block. Now this is all I will put in for now, I have more, but first I want to know if anyone really thinks this idea is worth it at all. If you disagree with something please give me ideas to improve it. I have tried to keep this as awesome as possible without making it so good that it’s not fair. Please, ideas readily accepted.

Thank you,

Why this is a good idea
  • Who wouldn't want to be a wolf, howling at the moon, or a lion, fearlessly stalking its prey, or even an eagle, soaring majesticly in the sky.
  • Would be fun to have a real challenge of trying to raise up your pack/pride/flock and cordinating thier fighting efforts while tearing foes to ribbons with razor sharp claws.
  • This idea is worth going for, for guy himself he should have the attack speed of a sin but he should have relitivly low armor to ballance his dps out.
Why it may not work out
  • Possibility of becoming way overpowered (Suggestions excepted)
