Guild Wars 2 Suggestions

Idea (Discussion)

  • For the Guild-wide Storage Boxes, its common in guilds (or at least in mine) to pretty much randomly give stuff to other people. And I don't mean giveaways; I mean that we are just trying to help each other out. In this way, people could just drop off stuff they don't want and let other people look and/or take it.
  •  As for the Guild Hall Skill trainer...could we make it any skill you've unlocked instead of just "core" skills? Assuming that you coudl get skills in a similar style as the current setup, it would be easier for those of us who PvP a lot, or who buy skills on one character and later need it on another who isn't in the same campaign and that would have issues getting there (ie, wanting soemthing like Vampiric Horror at the ruined Ascalon City as a current-game example).
Why this is a good idea
  •
Why it may not work out
  •  For the guild storage, some people will inevitably be vultures and just take it and sell it. That's bad.
  •   Could make some of the earlier parts of the game too easy, which would probably suit some of us fine.
  • Storage boxes will be leeched off of, no exceptions. Some seven-year-old loser will come into your guild and steal all your crap.

Guild Storage

Actually, there is a way to keep leechers out of this. I have mentioned and received positive feedback from my fellow guild members about the possibility of guild storage (purchased as an amenity like all else) for guilds to use to help members, store prizes & gold for events, etc. The members who heard this idea and questioned me on it thought it was a terrific idea and made me promise to follow through on it. In my idea, Guild Storage would be the same as the regular player storage with the following exceptions:

1. Any guild member can put items and/or gold into the locker.

2. Items and gold put into Guild Storage would be considered to be DONATED to the guild. This means they are no longer the property of the person who put them into the Guild Storage in the first place. While they can always ask for the return of an item, it is by no means a guarantee they will get it. This should also lead to careful usage.

3. Only the guild leader and officers designated by the guild leader would be permitted to remove anything once it was placed in guild storage. To make things easier, one could even limit the amount of officers that could be so designated by the leader.

The benefits are numerous:

1. Guilds would have access to items to help newer players/members more often.

2. Officers and leaders would not have to store everything themselves, thus freeing up their storage space.

3. The limited ability for removal from guild storage would make people think twice about putting something in it they wanted, or might want back.

4. It would be easier for guilds to host events, as everything would be right in one place. It could be gathered over time and kept for events. Anything not used during an event would still be kept and able to be utilized for the next one. This would promote more player/guild/alliance interaction and encourage guilds to host events more often and players to attend, as they can take a look at some of the items that might be prizes (even if they can’t take them out of Guild Storage themselves).

This is the bare bones of the idea I had, in a nutshell. There are more details, of course, and I would be happy to expound upon them as needed or requested. Respectfully, Kyly 01:11, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
