ArenaNet talk:Guild Wars 2 suggestions/Shadow Class

While this is a good idea for a profession, the character design would never fit into the game, and it sounds exactly like a mesmer (for the most part).

Shadow Class

moved from ArenaNet:Guild Wars 2 suggestions/Scratchpad
Shadow Class - Spawns of Judgement Day

The Shadow class are masters of channeling Dark energy to power thier skills. Armed with a very large scorpion-like tail for offence and one large seizer claw for defence, the Shadow class actually uses the enemies own energy to partially power its attacks to inflict dark damage on the enemy. Thus depleting the enemies heath and energy at same time. Tail Attacks can reach farther than normal melee attacks but not as far as bows and hit only one target at a time. Shadow class have a lot of "tank" busting skills.

The Shadow class has extremely high defence against melee and average defence against elemental damage, but has extremely low armor against holy magic and recieves damage if any healing skills are used on them. Shadow class must be healed with Dark energy skills. Dark energy skills are like adrenaline skills where in order to use them you need to build up a certain amount of energy first.

Why this is a good idea
  •   Now monks can own someone without being smiting or 55 monk. Monkin aint easy but lets face it ... if all you do in a party is heal it can get boring.
  •   I think its orginal cause I just made it up while eating a ham sandwich.
Why it may not work out
  •   If class looks like lobster = fail. If class looks like ALIENS = leet!
  •   Healing may be an issue.

Hey! I'm working for Ham sandwiches here ..... if you want practical on top of creative and orignal it's gonna cost you at least a cup of chicken noodle soup and some BBQ chips too! --Megaton Mung 22:07, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Haha, lol. Practicality comes with a bit of development and refinement. the ? menas it could be practical, but easily can't. --''Wolf'' 22:18, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

I don't like it Stokoe 23:10, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

You dont like it cause its not like all the other MMORPG characters you can find in WoW or Final Fantasy or Everquest? Let me guess ... you guys want Pirates or Ninjas?

Haha, wait, aren't assassins pretty much ninjas? --Wolf 01:47, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
I like the idea of using someone else's energy for your skills. Maybe if it took energy from whoever is targeting you. This would work well against spikes in HA and it would have it's draw backs because your monk who is healing you might also lose some energy. This would work pretty well for balance. I don't know about the tail and such, but some sort of a mesmer variant would be nice. Give it about 25 energy, and make the energy cost of it's skills about 30+ and you might have the makings for a good balanced profession.User ewilson92 sig.pngBlackie ewilson92 13:46, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
I like your suggestion about leeching energy from enemy when they attack attacks. That would help a lot with spikes in HA.
Ok how about we lose the LOBSTER look and give him a set of HUGE DARK WINGS. He can use them to Slice at enemies and at the same time to block attack. Instead of walking or running he can hover to move like the Murassat. What you guys think? --Megaton Mung 16:46, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
I am against the introduction of any new professions in GW2. Indeed, I'd like to see the assassin and paragon professions removed entirely, but that's not a discussion for here. While I will admit your idea sounds unique, and I like it overall (seriously, though, lose the tail and claws. >_>) I have to vote against it because more professions = more skills to balance = more problems overall. --Jette 00:23, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
The page makes me lol but after reading the discussion it could work. If GW2 has the same Prof/Prof style, regular weapons might be the go so he can switch between secondaries. You could also just have BADASS INTIMIDATING ARMOUR instead of ADDITIONAL LIMBS. How ever great a selling point it is, he'd fit amoung all races instead of having one of his own. Largely mesmer but an interesting take and could be a candidate if mesmer is removed. Also the enemy energy draining can be linked to an attribute like soul reaping. ie for every 5 points in this attribute steal 1 energy from those targetting you with skills. In fact this is a brilliant idea. Omg long casting times for mesmer skills make it suck ass as a secondary. Get rid of fast casting, put in energy stealing, you got yourself something that's useful for both primary and secondary and YOU GOT YOURSELF A BLOODY SHADOW!! - might want to clean up the page a bit so people don't think its a joke though.

I keep finding suggestions around here that sound like Naruto ripoffs... Sasori anyone? (yes, I know it's a fanart pic (no, I did not make it) but I couldn't be arsed to find an official one of Sasori with his scorpion tail) Don't remember if that Sasori form had a claw or not, don't really care. It's just kinda sad when someone who doesn't even watch Naruto (i.e., me) can spot an idea yoinked off of it so easily... Be original, people! Non-originality can get you sued. ^<__<^;; Also, the "healing magic makes you lose HP" thing has been done in other places, as has been mentioned earlier. It really annoyed me in Chrono Cross whenever Spriggan morphed into an AirFrame and would die cause I healed her. ^-__-^;; --Dragon nataku 19:05, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
You know, I think people need to think more about the practicality of actually adding some of these professions into the game. Looks kinda like a joke though the way its suggested right now...User The Cabal Sig pic 01.png The Cabal Stalk me! 02:13, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
