This is quite a straight-forward defensive type quest, however to get to the initial trigger point, you will have to defeat several groups along the way (including 4 bosses: Corporal Suli, Hajok Earthguardian (Insect), Makdeh the Aggravating and Tain the Corrupter).
When you arrive at the quest point, this is the trigger for 6 Margonite groups to advance and attack at the quest point, coming to you as three waves of two groups to kill. Elementalist ward spells that cover the gate, or Necromancer wells that buff the party (or debuff the enemies) can be very useful on this quest. Good use of aggro and body blocking may also enable use of area of effect spells to quickly wipe out the Margonites.
When the Margonites have been defeated, return to the Chantry of Secrets for your reward.

- "[Difficulty: Master] <player name>! The order of Whispers needs you once more. Our duty of protecting the land has become a nearly impossible task due to recent events. We need strong men and women to stand together against the threats facing our people. If you are the <profession> we think you are, you will talk to Whispers Adept."
- Accept: "We shall soon find out."
- Decline: "You must have me confused with someone else."
- When asked about quest: "Whispers Adept is waiting for you."

- "Alas, Margonites have released the titan Saevio Proelium from his tomb. The Titan has fled back to its lair in the Realm of Torment, but now the Margonites seek revenge for its long imprisonment! Most of the citizens here are miners or farmers. They can't defend themselves against these abominations. I have word the villages of the Yahtendi [sic] Canyons are under attack! These peasants will be slaughtered if you don't get there right away!"

- There is a resurrection shrine near to the trigger point, with a Margonite hunt blessing, so this quest can be used to farm Lightbringer points.
- If using heroes and/or henchmen, it can be helpful to pin them to the middle of the gateway where the quest fights take place, to ensure they do not run far or overaggro.
- You must defend the fortress not the valley regarding foe spawn points.

- The title of the quest "Between a Rock..." is a reference to the phrase, "You're between a rock and a hard place," meaning there's not very many good ways out of the situation.
