Meet Prince Rurik just outside Ascalon City. Follow him to the North Gate and kill the Charr.
The Charr are level 5 but Rurik and the two NPCs that follow him are able to defeat the group without you needing to bring aid. If you are a low level you may wish to keep your distance from the Charr.

- A group of Charr have broken through the gates! They must be stopped at all costs! Meet me at the gates just outside of town in Lakeside. What say you? Will you help me drive these Charr from fair Ascalon?
- Accept: "I'm with you!"
- Decline: "I don't think I'm ready for this."
When asked about quest: Meet me outside! Hurry, we haven't much time.

- Repeated completion of this quest (and subsequently cancelling the reward) is the usual way to start for those chasing the title of Legendary Defender of Ascalon. The xp reward for killing the enemies here will gradually advance your character until level 10. The best way to gain xp for this quest is to map travel back to ascalon after 3 Charr die, this will cut at least 25% from the xp per run but saves a lot of time taking and abandoning the quest every time. The information below is the highest possible amount of xp which is when none of the Charr are martyrs who are 1 level lower than the other Charr.
