Control point
From Guild Wars Wiki
A control point is a small area in Alliance battles that contributes points. There are 7 total in each map. They can be in one of three states: enemy control, neutral control, or friendly control. For each control point your team holds, your team will earn 1 point every 7 seconds.

[edit] Types
[edit] Resurrection Shrine
The Resurrection Shrine resurrects player that had fallen on the battle field. Players who died on the battle field will be resurrected at the closest Resurrection Shrine after 15 seconds.
[edit] Resurrection Orb Shrine
The Resurrection Orb Shrine spawns a Resurrection Orb every 30 seconds. When dropped, all dead allies in its radius are revived (effectively, a spell-caster carrying this has two lives).
[edit] Elite Station
Elite Station contains Elite NPCs that follows the player that first talk to them. Talk to them again for them to stop following and return to their control point.
[edit] Attack Point
Attack Point gives the Battle Cry bonus.
[edit] Defense Point
Defense Point Shrines offer benefits to party members through effects and objects.
[edit] Equipment Station
Equipment Station appears on the deep territories. It spawns Repair Kit for defending faction, and Powder Keg for offensive faction. The powder keg is used to blow up the three gates guarding the two elite stations. The repair kit repair the gates.
[edit] Capturing
Control points are captured by having more of your team within range than the opposing team. The aggro circle needs to overlap the point to count as a capturing member. Each member provides one pip to the progress bar. The number of pips in either direction is capped at 4. Pets, minions, and spirits do not count towards the number of capturing members, but NPCs do. The approximate time it takes to change the state of a control point is given below.
| Pips | Time |
|---|---|
| 1 | 20s |
| 2 | 15s |
| 3 | 11s |
| 4 | 8s |
Each captured control point spawns one to three NPCs that help maintain control and defend the site. If they are killed, they do not respawn unless the control site changes state to either neutral or enemy control and then back to friendly control. The NPCs will continue to defend until the control point is under enemy control. Enemy NPCs will then spawn.
[edit] Bonuses
In addition to NPC spawns, each control point provides a different bonus when captured. Some control points spawn elite NPCs that can follow a player. Some spawn bundle items such as Resurrection Orbs, Powder Kegs, or Repair Kits. Some provide effects that either last when you are within range, or are for a limited amount of time, such as Battle Cry. Each map has one or two control points that are resurrection shrines. These bonuses are lost when the corresponding control point goes neutral.
