Feedback:User/Guild Wars 3 perhaps/Siege Weapon Range Indicator on Build

In watching BWE videos, when a player uses a siege weapon blueprint there is no visual indicator - that I have seen anyway - of the siege weapon's range. This introduces the possibility of a player starting construction of a siege weapon only to discover - too late - that they are out of range of their intended target. This will result in a wasted siege weapon and frustration on the part of players since there does not appear to be any means of canceling construction once begun.

I suggest creating a mechanic in which a player attempting to build a siege weapon will be given a visual indicator of its range prior to committing to its construction. Similar to some of the weapon and utility skill mechanics which display a green circle for a targeted area within range and a red circle for areas out of range, the siege weapons could be given a similar mechanic. A green ring centered on the proposed siege weapon construction site would show the effective range. A player can then opt to commit to construction at that location or cancel construction in order to better position their siege weapon.

I can appreciate the counter-argument that players should learn by trial-and-error the effective range of their siege weapons. Being a player who also prefers realism and learning from experience, I personally don't mind the current implentation. However, for the more casual gamers, a wasted siege weapon build represents lost time and coins and will detract from their enjoyment of the game. Making my suggested change will avoid such a scenario without unbalancing WvWvW or otherwise giving anyone an unfair advantage.

I would imagine this should be a fairly simple change to implement. My guess is this range circle already exists, but is simply made invisible to the players. A few minor coding changes is probably all it will take to make the siege weapon range circles visible. Then just add an intermediary step during the construction procedure which will permit players to cancel the build if they don't like their current site.

To avoid the additional performance hit and visual clutter that permanently displaying every siege weapon's range indicator would place on the game, only show it while the player is choosing a build site and only visible to the blueprint owner. Once the player has committed to construction, then the range indicator disappears/goes back to being invisible again.

Of course, if such range circles and construction cancellation option already exist (and simply weren't recorded in the videos I watched), then feel free to ignore/delete this suggestion.

Thank you for reading.
