The Issue[edit]

When working on the cartographer title; usually in the last 5% or so; it can become increasingly difficult to know what area still needs to be explored without the use of 3rd party player made mods like TexMod or taking the time to go to every area seeking that last few percent points and wasting substantial time. This is particularly evident in Prophecies mission areas which; unlike the later campaigns; can only be explored during that specific mission. One other area that could hide hidden unexplored area is larger towns, this is because unlike explorable areas town don't show where you have and have not been with the use of red dots on the U map.

Below are a few possible solutions to this problem which will get updated as I receive further feedback.

Solutions[edit]

  • Add a buff icon to the Effects monitor; similar to the one currently used when vanquishing; that shows the percentage of the area uncovered.
  • Add the current percentage uncovered underneath the zone name on the world map.
  • Add the percentage uncovered on the mission map, either on the title bar or on the map itself.
  • Add a new NPC in major towns that would tell you the number of of areas fully explored; eg: 10/54 for Tyria (Porphecies); as well as a list of the areas still requiring exploration.

Problems with Solution + Solution[edit]

  • Some areas when explored also uncover area in an adjacent zone.
    • Percentage listed includes any possible overlap.
  • Solution 1 and 3 only show up when inside the zone whereas solution 2 shows up at all times but requires you to open world map.
    • Make use of multiple solutions to show percentage both when in the zone and out. Solution 1 and 2 for example.
