Feedback:User/MithranArkanere/Missing penalties for not customizing

Currently, there's a 'bonus' for customizing weapons. That bonus is +20% damage.

That bonus is meaningless for caster weapons.

Also, foci and shields have no benefit whatsoever for being customized.

Cutomization is the best way to take items out of market, making room for new drops. You either use the item, or sell it, but not both. Because of that, it should be enforced, by making customization desirable for all items. But PvP should not be altered by such a change, so instead giving bonuses for customizing weapons, not customizing them should incur a penalty.

So here's my suggestion:

  • Martial weapons : They already have a penalty. No customizing them means not having the 20% damage increase.
  • Shields: Not customizing them would mean losing armor. A maxed level 20 shield would have 12 armor when not customized, and 16 armor when customized.
  • Foci: Not customizing them would mean losing energy. A maxed level 20 focus would give 9 energy when not customized, and 12 energy when customized.
  • Caster weapons: They already have a 20% damage, but that is hardly relevant for caster most of the time. Staves have energy and 20% changes for half recharge to work with, but wands only have damage in their base. So a different thing would have to be done instead at least for wands. Something that offers a benefit, but doesn't add anything to the customized weapon.
    • My suggestion is making not customized caster weapons take 1 energy when activating skills with them in hand. Not customized wands and staves would be 'unsynchronized' with the user, and so using them would be a strain, taking 1 energy per attack and skill used. If that's not enough, other skills would also cost 20% more energy. Customized caster weapons would have no such problem.

Additionally, to go along these changes in which the weapons not cutomized are affected instead the customized ones, weapons could show the lost damage instead the customized ones showing the added damage, and damage numbers would be changed accordingly, making 'cutomized' the 'natural', 'default' state of weapons.

For example, customized swords deal roughly 18-26 damage instead 15-22. So after this change, all maxed swords would show 18-26 instead 15-22, and not customized swords would have the line "-24% damage (not customized)". Once customized, that line gets replaced by the line: "Customized for <character name>".

Summary.[edit]

Not customized items would have:

  • Martial weapons: -24% damage (No actual change).
  • Shields: -4 armor.
  • Foci: -3 energy.
  • Wands: 1 energy lost when a skill is used.
  • Staves: No 20% chance of half recharge for spells and/or -2 energy.
  • Additionally: Penalties for not being customized are shown in not customized weapons instead bonuses appearing in customized weapons.
