Not entirely the same as...

Mercenary Heroes and Zaishen Vanquish? I'm happy it's no longer a suggestion :D. Qaletaqa Hania talk 16:07, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

We have been fortunate to have received a lot of great feedback and terrific suggestions over the years. Guild Wars players are good about that. :) The changes in this week's big update are sure to please a lot of folks who have contributed to the body of input over the past years. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:23, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Dear Gaile

I've sent you an email on your wiki acount and I think, for some reason, it didn't arrive. Could you please check your inbox for the email I've sent you? Thank you! :) Rendier 18:51, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

I have read the email and I understand your thoughts. I don't have anything new to report at the present time but I'll get in touch if I learn anything more. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:10, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

6th Year

Any news about the sixth year predictions? Tomoko 18:48, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

More Mini Hero's and maybe a Mini Komir? Ocren 01:16, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
Mini Emperor Kisu, since Winds of Change will be out prolly at the same time =P --MageUser MageMontu sig.pngMontu 23:54, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
I think there is a page that has our guess somewhere
just I have no idea where it is Ocren 00:36, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Last year's page. Someone could create a page in their feedback space, post it here. Gaile can tell us later if she wants it moved to her space. (For what it's worth, predictions for year 5 started in February.)  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:14, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Your presence is requested

For the finale of the Ascalon Royal Family Masqerade Ball. It would be such a privilege for you to attend if at all possible, Lady Gray, since you were there for the Ball's birth in 2007. I hope you will come join us, not solely as an Arenanet employee, but as our friend for many years. Ascalon Royal Family Masquerade Ball 2011 Have a splendid day. --Malchior Devenholm 07:00, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi Mal. First, I want to say I think the invitation is just beautiful and the video is very well done. Congrats to those involved! :)
Secondly, it's hard for me to stay away from events, especially those I've been attending since the beginning. Once I know the time and date, I will do my level best to be there. As always these days, I'd be there just as a player like anyone else. But this player is very happy to have been sent a personal invitation. Thanks and hugs. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 03:12, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Hey Gaile!

Thought I'd say hi! By the way, do you intend to make a 6th year predictions page? Its getting awfully close! The Savior 16:16, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

As a placeholder, I've created Sixth year miniature guesses. Feel free to add your own entry (and Gaile has permission to move the page into her user space if she likes).  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:35, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

Guild Wars 2 weapons - and their significance

Hiya!

I was watching an interview and thought of you. With weapons being so much more of a defining feature of Guild Wars 2 characters, will you stick to the Ranger profession? Or have bow-armed Warriors or such grabbed your attention?

I havn't had the pleasure of actually playing the game, or any of it's incarnations, yet. So that means I'm ignorant of lots, such as if said-Warriors (for the sake of example) will have appropriate utility skills, etc.

Just curious ^ ^ User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.jpg A F K When Needed 19:40, 19 April 2011 (UTC)

I know I can use weapons differently in GW2, and I have. But really, I'm a Ranger at heart, and I have found that for me, being really good (though I'd never presume to say "expert") in one profession is the way I like to play. As far as testing, though, naturally I'll do as the dev team desires, and if it's "All Warrior, All the Time" day, I'm fully on board. When the game releases, I'll be going Ranger... although I'm testing with an Elementalist, and dear lord, she's impressive... and there's this... well, never mind, TMI, TMI. :)
What are you thinking of choosing, profession-wise? -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 20:39, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
I am thinking I'll make My warrior again, but I will be testing the other ones to see what I like :D Ranger might be fun to try for once Ocren 20:51, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
I'll be sticking to being a master of death ;)
I knew you liked Rangers, but I didn't know what specifically about them drew you to them. With the Warrior (again, as an example) possessing bow skills Rangers don't have, and so arguably being capable of taking on the role of a different kind of Ranger, I was interested in if you'd switch e.g. basically go ?/R (W/R possibly) instead of R/? User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.jpg A F K When Needed 22:19, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
(to clarify I basically consider weapons to be secondary professions) User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.jpg A F K When Needed 22:24, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
I guess for me it's almost a "cultural" thing. I was a Rogue in Diablo, back in the day. I was drawn to a bow since long before Diablo, so what, early- or mid-90's? Then, with Guild Wars, it became more. The Ranger was interesting to me, with the bow, the range, the effects, the mobility, the strong orientation to nature, and the -- wait for it -- pet. :) Guild Wars was the first game where I really got into the whole "side kick" concept, where I felt that having a party of two was just right. Not somebody I had to babysit, nor an extension of my weaponry, but pretty much me-done-better, with the help of my loyal friend George. I loved the pets; I love them still. I like bows; I like bow effects. And while I think other characters had lovely armor -- some better than Ranger, since the one with the sticks is pretty much not my thing, thx -- I was ok (am still ok, will probably always be ok ;) ) with the Studded Leather Armor my friends helped me get, back in the day, from Granite Citadel. And while I freely admit there are more powerful characters, and more imposing ones, Ranger is just it for me.
Actually, it's as difficult for me to define why I love the Ranger so much as it is to define why a certain piece of music makes me weak at the knees. Like there's this theme in Guild Wars, in Kryta, that still makes me stop and listen, that still makes me sigh... :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 23:02, 19 April 2011 (UTC)
Heh, I understand :-) The reason Necromancers have always been the one for me is... there's a degree of imperfection there. You're not a noble Paragon killing the bad guys and saving the world. You're doing the ultimate good; but leaving a trail of devastation in your wake, dismissing it as acceptable loses. I like the idea of a character where morals are so much trickier than the typical hero; e.g. Paragon. As a player I've always been fond of Dwayna; and I like the idea of my Necromancer being the same. Of having better intentions but never fulfilling them. Necromancers are the most fun to play, for me, because I can most easily credit them as having a full character.
They walk a fine line... what other hero has a past so filled with regret? I suppose I just identify with them more than any other profession... and no, I don't go around wearing all black, I've no tattoos and no piercings. :P User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.jpg A F K When Needed 15:17, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
Oh, and I actually consider the Ranger one of the strongest professions. I'd rather a longer battle where I'm in control of the situation, if the alternative is being a glass cannon rolling a die to see who wins. I value control; the ability to decide the flow of the battle. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.jpg A F K When Needed 15:22, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
I was going to go Warrior or Ranger because I enjoyed being a Warrior in GW1 but Rangers seem more...interactive? I mean the pets are completely different and I think the rangers will be good team members as many spells need others to shoot things through so... User: Austin1

Hmmm this is interesting, I guess i could add my two cents lol :P I'm going to go with a double sword warrior, since i fell in love with Devona , ( I hope tht's spelled rite :P )in the opening trailer of guild wars, and was very disappointed when playing the game I found out tht she was to be only a hammer warrior, I'm still wondering why, if you could enlighten me Gail , tht would be nice :). Take care. Hope to see you in GW 2.Captain of the army 13:38, 16 June 2011 (UTC)

Hello Gaile

Just thought I'd drop a note here. Is your email working alright? Have sent a few emails over the past few months and no response. D= I know you're busy so maybe I should try again. Let me know. Thanks! Sardaukar User Sardaukar sig.png 11:54, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

Gasp! It's working fine, thanks. I just forget to answer, since the question is sort of off the normal support topic. I'll dig one out now. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 00:31, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Just saying thanks

Just saying hi and thanks again for what you did for us in Shing Jea Monestary.

I hope I get to see you in person on GW 2 beta/release. I heard so many great things about you. Also me Zelda Ale Merchant Lyuba and Tormented Vizu thank you and GW staff again for the Chaoz Shinobi ban. I seen him return last Wintersday, but haven't seen him since. Me and him exchanged a few harsh words but that was it. My regards and I wish you good health and happy playing!Yumiko ^,~ 03:54, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Gaile is Awesome like that, Yet to meet her but she is helpful. Support is helpful too. Sent them a ticket a few days ago along with a screen shot of a money trader, 24 hours and resolved. Best support when all works out Ocren 06:05, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Hey they, Yumiko. Sorry I'm so late to respond; sometimes I read and intend to come back "in a few minutes" and get distracted by other projects. :) I hope we'll have a chance to see one another in Guild Wars 2. Look for a Ranger with some spiffy lavender armour and a good-looking pet. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 02:36, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
And thanks for the kind words, Ocren! I'll see you in the game sometimes, I'm sure. I'm there... a lot. ;) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 02:36, 21 May 2011 (UTC)
yet to see you gaile, but your welcome. Look on my page and you can see my characters. Ocren 23:52, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Birthday Tonics

Question: Can the birthday tonics provide differentiating Armors on the hero's they disguise you as?
I'm unsure because I have a screen cap of someone using a vekk tonic and having brotherhood armor on (the distinctive goggles on top of the head) But I have yet to see any other hero tonic use anything other than starter armor, this after using my Pyre tonic several thousand times while under the effect of Loose Magic. --BriarUser Briar Sig 3.jpgThe Spider 13:59, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

I apologize that I did not see this earlier. Each tonic comes in just one form. There are no variables on armour. There are some qualities of a few tonics where you might get a different version of the same hero. For instance, once in a great while, the owner of a Prince Rurik tonic may conjure up an Undead Rurik instead. But most are one size fits all and looks the same in each instance. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 23:37, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

"gaile is dead --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.15.198.83 (talk)." I dunno, what do you think??--User Necro Shea mo signature.jpg Necro Shea Mo 21:43, 8 August 2011 (UTC)

The IP posted that 16 months ago. Gaile posts more often these days at the official forums (which makes sense, given that people are asking for support help there rather than on the wiki). — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:56, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
I know that. I just found it funny that someone would say something sooo stupid like that about someone whos obviously not.--User Necro Shea mo signature.jpg Necro Shea Mo 15:54, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
because of how Important Gaile is. I'm pretty sure it would be a big thing on the log on screen, the wiki, the support site. and a festival would be made for her, and the frog would come around handing out gifts. But I agree, that is funny on the person's stupidity Ocren 17:28, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Oh, for Pete's sake! That old thing? The truth is, I'm focusing most of the time I can give to posting these days on the Guild Wars Support Forums. That's not to say I don't still love the wiki -- I do! But the forum was my "super secret project" for a long while -- I was the project manager/producer -- and I want to do my bit to make the GWSF as good as it can be. I will try to be better about posting here, though, because I love having the chance to stay in touch through a personal page. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 22:36, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

Quick Question

In March 2008 you said "However, it seems doubtful that we will have info for a few months" regarding the GW2 beta. Seeing how it has been a few months, I have but one question.

Will this game ever be released?

Thanks for your time. 76.176.221.100 01:13, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

I'm going to assume you took that as saying "we'll have beta in a few months" rather than "we'll have a better idea of when we want to do beta in a few months." Did you really think the beta would happen in 2008-2009, when not a single profession had been revealed yet? Patience, my sarcastic friend; closed beta is slated to start this year. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 13:47, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Yes, this game will be released. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 17:18, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

GW2 Defeat

Hey Gaile, havn't posted anything in a long while but you're the only person I know I can ask things about. My question is, when you are defeated in GW2 and you have to pay to go to a way point, what happens if you can't afford the cost? That's all I think for now, thanks for you're time! User:Austin1

Cape Emblems/Designs

Hey G-Morning Gaile/All :P, (Since its am here atm)

Anyways am gunna start by saying I'm not sure if these should be posted here but anything is worth a shot I guess :P, I was wondering if it was possible to ask if there was any way that we could get some new cape emblems/styles added to GW1 before release of GW2?, or would it be too late into the games History?.

I've been playing for an avid 6yrs and still love the game to bits (with over 27k hrs I should do right? :D) but I'm now starting to find it hard to come up with cape designs for special events such as Halloween, Pink Day etc... So would it be at all possible to request some new designs or emblems?.

Thanks in advance and sorry if I'm rambling on I'm never usually up at this hour xD!!. PS <3 you Gaile "Rangargh Powargh!!!!" --Find And Seek User Find And Seek sig.png 06:37, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

You'll want to create a feedback page and submit your suggestions/requests there. Gaile can respond if she likes, but the feedback space is regularly checked by the devs. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 20:09, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
At one point I figured we had a lot of cape designs, in fact, I believed we surely had enough. But sure, we've all been playing a long while and more might be nice. If you'd like to see more, I agree that you should post the request on the Suggestions page. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 22:23, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

New Login Screen?

Could you possibly ask the live team if there's any chance of a new log-in screen? No offense to Mr. Soule, but I'm getting tired of hearing those darned trumpets every time I open the game, and there are more locations in EotN than just the Far Shiverpeaks... It's been almost 4 years... please? :D 76.247.216.184 23:12, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Put it in the feedback space. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 23:28, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
The high number of resources necessary for a new log-in screen -- art, programming, graphic/interface design, etc. -- make it highly unlikely that a new screen will be rolled out. Still, you are welcome to search the feedback section, search for this suggestion (which has been made multiple time before), and add your comments. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 18:26, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

Email?

As a new user to the wiki with a very n00b question, I was hoping to email you and maintain what little dignity I had rather than posting my ignorance for the world to see; however, the wiki's had other ideas. Although I've scoured the FAQ and Help Center for info regarding emailing on the GWW system, I've failed. Even the almighty Google could not help me! So, I admit it: I am a n00b with what is likely a stupid question; therefore, please link me to the article about emailing, if you'd be so kind.

Thank you, Halfway 23:23, 1 December 2011 (UTC)Halfway
