Halloween
- Hi Gaile!
Hey Gaile if you have some time mind asking the devs to add some quests or missions to halloween this year? It is the only festival that doesnt have any! If you need any ideas I have a few here. Also even if you can't make the devs add some tell me what you think of my ideas. Thank Gaile and have a great september! The Savior 11:30, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
- I know Linsey has a few things she is planning for Halloween this year, mainly Teller of Tales who seems to be forgotten each year for two years in a row. Also, there HAVE been major changes to Halloween over the years, Costume Brawl and Trick or Treat bags being the two big changes, along with those sugar items that come in the Trick or Treat bags. Minor changes being the fact we get new hats yearly. Also, Kamadan only got the Halloween event after release. ^^" Katherinezoltin 21:11, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
- Wintersday gets too much love. ToT bags instead of random drops (might as well have presents drop instead of random drops) isn't much of a change - Costume Brawl (Snowball). Halloween is beaten by every other holiday. (Side note: Teller of Tales was intended for the first Halloween, but couldn't be done, and it was forgotten about the remainder years according to Linsey). Quests are indeed needed for Halloween, but I think this should go on Linsey's feedback page. :) -- Azazel the Assassin/talk 22:53, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
- The Guild Wars Halloween Event is my favourite of the whole year, and I'm really looking forward to it! (I love Winterday too, it's a very close second, but Halloween was our first, and for sentimental reasons and my enormous love of the holiday in general, I have to give that event top prize!)
- I think it's great that you guys have ideas about expanding the event, and I love them! But for best coverage, I hope you'll post them as suggestions using the spiffy new system as well. :) -- Gaile

- I got a large amount of suggestions for GW1, trying to refine them, but it's a tad large and detailed so I won't be getting up my ideas for at least a week or two. :p But I shall use the spiffy new system.-- Azazel the Assassin/talk 23:50, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

Swine Flu?
- I must know
Is Gaile Swine Flu free? I heard Linsey and some of the live team got it during PAX and I was wondering if you were okay. Personally, I blame Oink for this, he keeps hanging around the weirdest people and getting lost Grenth knows where. Katherinezoltin 04:22, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- Oink can't get sick, he has invulnerability. -- Konig/talk 06:09, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- Just cause Oink can't get sick, doesn't mean he can't be a carrier.--Pyron Sy 07:16, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- I managed to dodge the Porker Phlu bullet so far. (And yes, I agree that Oink just may be a carrier!) Only a couple of people got it and they have recovered nicely.

- If I have been a little quiet on the wiki this week, I apologize. I've been hosting our GM leads from the Austin and Brighton offices at ArenaNet, and we've had many meetings that may have made my responses a bit delayed. I'll be picking back up to my normal "many views a day" pace soon. :) -- Gaile

- Why people call it Swine Flu anyway? You can't get it from pigs. The virus has to mutate before it can infect humans. At that point it can't survive in pigs anymore. So we can't blame Oink. - J.P.
Talk 23:02, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, I concede that point Jope. We shan't blame Oink for the "swine" flu. In fact, all porcine creatures are hereby exonerated from being responsible for that curse.

Frog? Or Toad?
Despite the frog's name, hes more like a toad. Have we EVER seen him in water(Besides GMVM's and sanctum cay(i think)?),NO...so that could mean hes a land living reptile commonly known as..A TOAD. Im not saying hes green and has warts..Froggy(Toady?!)is awesom .. My alli made a spinoff of him..Called forggy(Typo intended)He lives in the lighthouse in LA international 1.--Neil2250

- Well Neil, you've really done it now! I just casually mentioned your question to Froggie and had to sit through a 25-minute lecture on the differences between frogs and toads, and how the frog is a superior amphibian in every way. Note, I wrote "the frog" is the superior being. I did not write "The Frog" because my buddy is much too modest to say something vain about himself. He focuses his praise on his species, not himself. :) )
- You ask if anyone has seen him in water. Absolutely! He and I picnicked on the beach in Kryta last week and did quite a bit of swimming. Incidentally, you really should see his little swimsuit -- it's the old-fashioned striped style, like this. And of course, as fond as he is of his chapeau collection, he usually sports a fashionable straw hat in the sun.
- Basically, I wanted to caution that we all should be sensitive in our comments about Froggie's species. I witnessed the last time someone asked him if he was related to the hekets? The guy left town with little frog-foot-shaped bruises on his shins. Who knew Froggie knew martial arts? ;) -- Gaile

- Fantasy is a very large genre, and it has a lot of well-known, traditional story elements and images. Oftentimes images in two places or in two games can look rather similar without there being any cause of concern. I honestly don't see anything alarming in the images; I can't even see one of the images at all. :)
- If you feel there are possible copyright issues, though, you can submit a support ticket and they'll send me the data to review the situation more formally. Thanks. -- Gaile

- Froggie has an amazing set of skills, the likes of which no one has ever seen. Well, except for me, of course. But that's what happens when you're traveling companions -- you see your friends through all moods, all crazinesses, all flights of fancy. For instance, who would anyone have guessed that The Frog sleep-hops? But yes, that's true.
- Specifically you ask about dancing, right? Yes, of course he dances. He's a fan of every step from waltz to samba, the swim to the polka. And, just between us -- because no one else will surely ever read this ;) -- The Frog and I have danced together by the light of the silvery moon many a time. Favourite spots: Lion's Arch during Halloween; Kamadan during Wintersay; the Maguuma Jungle after a refreshing rainfall. Heck, we've even practiced the cha-cha around the lava pits on the Fire Island Chain. :) -- Gaile

- Neither, actually. Froggie and I happen to love the nighttime hours. I am not a "morning person;" he is not a "morning amphibian." We are enchanted by Tyria at night, and particularly love the times when Lion's Arch is dark and spooky, such as during the Halloween Event. (Can't wait!) Couple a dark night, moonlight, a breeze off the bay, the sound of the wind in the trees, and the murmurs of friendly night creatures and this is the stuff of magic. And when that comes together, who can help but dance, just a bit? :) -- Gaile

- My first hamster was named Guilda. (Get it? Guild-a? :) She joined the team in 2004, living in the Community Team office at ArenaNet weekdays and at my home on weekends. Guilda loved to roam the halls in her hamster ball; she even charmed our office manager, Lisa, who confided that she'd never bonded with a rodent before but who found Guilda to be iorresistible. Guilda was our hamster mascot for about 18 months until she passed on to her reward. Guilda II followed, then Gwen. Gwen was the sweetest of all -- snow white and so very sweet natured. She died just two months ago and I miss her greatly.
- My home situation has changed since I got the first Guilda, and I think it would be unkind to Franklin and Winston, my kitties, to have a little hamster in their home, even if it ended up being only on weekends. For that reason, I'm holding off on getting a new hamster for a while. But when I do, you can be sure I already have a bunch of cool Guild Wars-related names in mind. :) -- Gaile

...do you put up with us?

- Putting up with constant abuse and childishness is not her job.
A F K When Needed 21:58, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's not her job, but unfortunately it's an aspect of the job itself. Support is a job that has to deal with people, and people who go to support can very often can be abusive or immature because they are angry or scared (account just got hacked, why aren't you guys working faster, etc...). Some people might be mean on purpose, but for a lot of people it's really just that they are very emotional over what they have seen/what has happened. The reason she puts up with it is because if you're in support, you have a thick hide, you know how to keep yourself collected and deal with that type of stuff. (5$ this reply is close to what she says!) DarkNecrid 14:14, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- It's more simple, really, DN, although you make good points. I care about our players and I can look beyond the abusive members of the community to see the enormous number of good, decent, friendly players. I can't say that abuse is "water off a duck's back" for me, but I try to make it as much that as possible. If I stop caring, I won't do a good job, so it's a balance between not taking things personally and yet personally helping whenever I can.
- The reason I try to answer questions that are unrelated to support is because sometimes it's not clear what is a support issue and what is not. Too, because I've been at ArenaNet since before God invented dirt ;) and because I once held a different position, people are sometimes unsure where to direct a question. So hey, it's ok -- I answer, if I can, or I try to gently head them in the right direction. -- Gaile

- Right now, match entry works by taking everyone queued to enter across every district, dropping them in a bucket, and forming teams out of that bucket. (Assumably it only takes an amount of people equal to the amount necessary to form an even number of full teams.) That said, syncing is still possible, but less so now that there are more people in the bucket at any given time. ··· Danny Pew Pew 19:08, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
Let the war... begin...^^
Do you all remember "Hip Hop Routine"? You know, the awesome song The Frog and The Rabbit preformed during the "Farwel to GAile event"?
Well, I sure remember it... it is truly a masterpiece.
However... just recently, I started to wonder... who was the best rapper in the song? The Frog? Or The Rabbit? Maybe there is no "true" answer to that question, but you can always ask paople what they think...
Now it's time for people out there, to make their voice heard! Is The Frog, or The Rabbit, the best rapper? How to vote? Well... of course I thoght of that...

- I can't imagine why this is on my page. Could you please move it to, or create, a page about the subject matter? (If it's a support-related question, forgive me -- I just don't see that right now.) -- Gaile

- Ah, do you think it's the image that I'm supposed to "explain plz" about? I was reading the in-game text and didn't look at the image. Neil, if you're concerned about the art (as in the clipping that I note), please move this to the Bugs page. Thanks very much. -- Gaile

- Gaile, are you sure you're on the right page? This page is for casual chit-chat. Like, involving a funny screenshot showing a Tyrian NPC wearing boxers with hearts on them. :) -- FreedomBound

- Alright you guys! I looked at that image, honestly I did. I saw a bit of clipping, which I clarified in my comment above. But at no time did I see bloomin' bloomers with hearts on them! I've been really Super-OMG-busy today, but did someone change that image just a smidge? :D -- Gaile
