Website Issue

new topic created from separate thread

Hi Gaile it's me again, I can't access the guild wars 2 website , I have tried everything I kno off, still no luck, I am wondering if the website is down or something , thanks. Captain of the army 01:26, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Please put issues like this on my Support Issues page, if you'd be so kind. Unfortunately, I did not see this message until I happened to be responding to another one. However, to answer the question, the website is working at this time, and I did not hear of any outage. I believe you may have experienced a local issue. Feel free to post on the Support Issues page if you have further difficulties. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 01:43, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Please put the idea across to the right people (probably the head dev?) because having a few volunteer moderators to get rid of all the trash would make JQ/FA so much more enjoyable. If not, then i just give up with it alltogether 188.28.100.206 00:27, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Giving any player the power to suspend or terminate the account of another player is a terrible idea which will never be implemented in ANY mmo. Sorry pal.--TahiriVeila 00:49, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
I know thats why i said the team leader has to be an official NCsoft/Anet staff. to make sure the people selected dont abuse the power. its still worth a try IMO - if people are willing to volunteer and do it for nothing, Anet/NCsoft should welcome the idea as we arent official staff and we dont get paid to do it. and its not a terrible idea - unless you're saying that everyone in GW is abusive and irresponsible? the idea could work. and in anycase its not a 'PLAYER' that gets terminated, its a BOT not a real player. its a win win situation on NCsofts behalf - they get people to do their work for them for nothing.188.28.100.206 01:00, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
"if people are willing to volunteer and do it for nothing" Nothing but the opportunity to ban anyone who irks them. And yes, most of the players would be abusive and irresponsible with these powers. Remember, the age limit for the game is only 13 and up. Do you really want angsty gamer teens deciding your fate? -- Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 01:28, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Many of us found Ta and HB to be the most enjoying aspects of the game. We were mad successful at getting those back =\ --TahiriVeila 05:56, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Heh, sorry to hear that. I never actually liked TA (nor tried HBs - yay for laziness), but that's just my choice and I understand you. To be completely honest, I still don't get why those were removed (and unless I hear something along the lines of "TA server maintenance was expensive" I won't understand I guess ;-)) It's not like they were unpopular (especially TA). 79.139.2.195 15:06, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Had more to do with the metagame than any hardware issue. As far as the suggestion, I'm pretty sure I've seen it in the feedback portal somewhere, but if you'd like to add your own suggestion and reasoning, you should probably create a user account for the wiki and make your own feedback page. Gaile is a support liaison, not a developer liaison. -- Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 16:51, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Oh now, Kyoshi, I bug those gu... I mean I chat with those guys all the time! :) :) You're right, a feedback page with this request would be nice. I think Dragon Arena is really cool, but I think one of the reasons I like it so well is because it IS that rare thing, offering only once-in-a-while access. If you eat hot fudge sundaes every day, I bet they'd get pretty routine. But having them once in a while retains their ability to charm. :)
Having said that, the Live Team obviously pays a LOT of attention to player input. If you saw the things coming down the pike that I see, you'd be even more sure that GW players really do have the attention of the Guild Wars Live Team! Anyway, I can't say what the future of Dragon Arena will be, but I'm sure they'll note your request if you make a page. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 05:03, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your above feedback, everyone. I guess I'll follow the suggestion and create the feedback page (someday - I'm a lazy bastard ;-)). BTW, Kyoshi, I've decided to post here because of "As Support Liaison, I (...) help make the game a better place to be. (...)". Since it's obvious the page gets a lot of attention, I just hoped to hear some people's opinions on the matter - like above. I apologize for the inconvenience, Gaile. ;-) 79.139.2.195 18:30, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

While I made a bit of a jump about Gaile's job (guess it should make sense to me since so few ANet staff are active on here that Gaile would pick up some of the slack) you'd be able to hear opinions on your feedback page; that's half the point. The other half is to have your suggestion seen without every suggestion needing to be piled on top of another on a staff member's talk page. -ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 19:11, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Newsletter issue

Just curious...how often does a guild wars newsletter get sent? I cant remember the last time I got one in my email and I just checked my NSsoft account and it said I was signed up for it.

Also, is there a "fan appreciation page" or something where I can thank you guys at Anet in detail? :p Serious question lol

Thank you for your time in responding 71.202.198.72 18:40, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi there. I don't think we've sent out a Guild Wars (the original game) newsletter in months, maybe not since last spring, around the time of the 5-Year GW Anniversary. We did distribute a Guild Wars 2 newsletter in December. I remember that I was particularly concerned because the bounce rate was rather high and I wanted to make sure, also, that folks who wanted to unsubscribe could do so. From those discussions, I believe we'll be offering a new subscription opportunity that will allow us to revamp the mailing list. I'll check with Community and Marketing about this and let you know if I learn anything new. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 05:10, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
Oh...errr... "fan appreciation page?" Gosh, I don't think so. If you want to thank someone specifically, you could post on their user page here on the Guild Wars Wiki. If you wanted to make a general "thank you" post, perhaps you could add a note on the discussion pages of the ArenaNet section?
Help me out, friends. Can you think of a better suggestion to give in response to 71's kind gesture? -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 05:17, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
The Twitter, the Facebook page maybe? Basically anything would require that someone send it around anyway, so I think you might as well take it here and distribute it, Gaile. =P --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 05:25, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
You can always Like their several pages in Facebook, and also ask Facebook devs to add a "Love" option exclusively for them, since "Like" is not enough. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 23:57, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I received a newsletter yesterday about the Embark Beach update. Did you get one as well, 71? -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 19:24, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

I haven't gotten the newsletter in forever, either, and I'm also signed up for it according to the NCMA. I get updates for City of Heroes, though. What's the e-mail address for the GW newsletter so I can make sure it's on my safe list?--Res 01:34, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
I did end up getting that newsletter, though it's a shame I can't log in for it until tomorrow. So excited!
@Res: The address should be newsletters@ncsoft.com. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 06:27, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
I received the newsletter, properly translated to Spanish. It' nice to see one good translation once in a while. The last in-game ones (HotN) had been a bit... 'peculiar'... MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 14:05, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
Woot, I'm going to pass that along to our Localization Team -- I know they'll be delighted to know the translation was solid this time! -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 04:15, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
newsletters@ncsoft.com is on my safe list, and it's the one that sends City of Heroes e-mails. I'm not sure why I'm not getting the GW newsletters.--Res 09:59, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
I did indeed get the newsletters for the 6th year celebration, and the Embark Beach update. I was just unsure if there was a regular monthly newsletter that i was missing out on and unfortunately i dont do facebook lol GW is about as far as i go in regards to "interacting" online...and i suppose this wiki page too, and the future GW2 ^_^ But Gaile if you could pass the word along, you guys are awesome when it comes to support issues!!! and ridiculously fast at replying to an email >_> on a saturday too!! my internet experience wouldve been limited to email were it not for GW! ^__^ thank you! 71.202.198.72 04:18, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
