30 MOXes and HoM

Hi Gail it's me again with another question :) ...I hope you don't mind me editing in here, because it's the only way I kno how :P, so here goes, bear with me as this may a bit of a long run on sentence....I recently added Mox and Jora to my fellowship momument, and I checked my HoM rewards and I got 2 points towards my max statue count. Now I'm wondering if someone may be able to max their statue count by jst adding 30 Mox's with 30 diff char's, since Mox dosen't need armor upgrades and u get him free at lvl 10, and also u get 1 free HoM tapestry upon reaching the eye outpost first time. I wanted to try it but was scared I would be banned, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. So will it count adding Mox on dif char's or can u only add him once for a statue count ? thanks for any info u can get me . take care. Captain of the army 21:06, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

You only get credit for a statue once, regardless of how many characters you use.--User Pyron Sy sig.png Pyron Sy 21:16, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
For future reference, you can ask questions at game questions page.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:21, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Error code Clarification

Hi Gaile! Not sure if this fits into the category of the support talk page or normal talk, but I was wondering if you could give us a bit more clarification as to what the error code 1751336 means? It usually crops up in the GW in-game store when prepaid gift cards are declined (I've encountered it a couple of times), so what exactly does it mean? --Sage Talk 17:07, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi there. Can you tell me exactly what verbal message you get with that code? I can check with the team, but I may be able to discern the code from the message. Thanks. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 23:08, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Lore Question

Is the naming of the Ebonhawke a reference to the starship the Ebon Hawk from the SW:KOTOR series of games? If so is there any particular reason for referencing the starship? It'd be great to know if there are some good old fashioned Star Wars junkies on the design team still xD--TahiriVeila 23:59, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

I don't know expressly about the name in Guild Wars, and I guess I could ask. However, come on! Is there any geek worth his faded, Mountain Dew-stained 1998 StarCraft t-shirt who doesn't love Star Wars? ;) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 08:06, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Well there's a difference between loving Star Wars and possessing the sort of obsession that drives a developer to name significant GW2 locations after Old Republic-era light freighters =P If it's not too much trouble it'd be great to know. I'd bet that whoever named the town will recognize my username as well xD--TahiriVeila 17:13, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
I can't say I like that about Star Wars. It's as if you were supposed to like it. It's like the Emperor's New Clothes, people is just being fooled. For me Star Wars is just a corny fairy tale for little kids, and the only decent characters in the whole series are Yoda and R2D2 (the only ones that say things that make some sense). The only thing I really like of the whole franchise was the Ewok Celebration theme at the end of the 3rd(6th) movie. I've watched a lot of Sci-Fi since I was young, and I can't still understand why people put Star Wars so high in that pedestal. 2001: A Space Odyssey, Critters, The Last Starfighter, Star Trek, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Alien, Back to The Futire, Flash Gordon, Doctor Who, Blade Runner... you name it, it's always better than Star Wars.
You asked for me, so I had to come. I'm 'the guy who doesn't like Star Wars'. If you ever need someone to speak against Star Wars again, just call me and I'll be there. I'm glad to help! MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 21:59, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Star Wars is a good story, but it's bad science fiction. User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 23:06, 15 January 2011 (UTC)
Then you may like The Hidden Fortress, the movie that 'inspired' Lucas to come up with Star Wars, XD. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 05:17, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Any new info on this gaile? :D--TahiriVeila 01:57, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

No, sorry, no info. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 02:49, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Bummer, any idea which designer picked out the name for the town?--TahiriVeila 02:52, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
No, and that's the entire problem. Do I ping dozens of people -- designers, writers, world builders, and more -- any of whom could have suggested the name? That could be really intrusive, and I would feel guilty for taking valuable time from extremely busy people. So I've asked one person and if he does not know the answer, we'll need to leave it as a mystery. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 03:05, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
I understand ^___^ Thanks for putting some effort in though, I appreciate it

Color Blind Help?

So I am hoping, and wondering if there is any chance of implementing a "color blind help" feature in GW1, if not then at least please keep this in mind for GW2...while we are a minority, its a minority of 11-13% of people. Red dots simply do not look fun for my eyes (among other color issues)  :( is there a settings option available for this that i dont know about?

Otherwise, love love love the game and its 99% perfect! 71.202.198.72 19:14, 26 February 2011 (UTC)

It's possible to create a texmod plugin that will change the colors used for any game. Check out the listed UI mods: there might be something there that helps (several of the listed mods change color schemes); it might give you some ideas on things to try; if (like myself) you are not tempted to try crafting your own mod, you might contact one of the authors to see if they have any interest.
You can also make an official suggestion in Feedback or by sending an email. If you do find something immediately useful, please post again so we can make it easier for the next of your cousins who comes looking.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:28, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
Well, in the past ive used the cartography mod and that was FANTASTIC as i remember being able to see what should be uncovered based on color differences. I will try to make an official suggestion, since an ingame option would be most ideal, im too paranoid to use plugins or what not even if they are deemed safe & approved :( thank you for your reply tho ^_^ (i would also accept an option to have better Genes lol) 71.202.198.72 18:21, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
It doesn't seem unreasonable to ask game companies to expand their potential customer base by 11-13%. (Although I suspect that they will stop short of gene therapy.)
There are no safe or approved plug-ins for Guild Wars (let alone for TexMod); the best you can hope for are mods that are so widely used that the risk is minimized. Cartography Made Easy and TexMod itself, for example, present little risk b/c they have well-publicized sources (and checksums). Many of the mods listed on the second link also see frequent use (although nothing close to CME's popularity). The first link has directions for how to build your own mod.
I encourage you to make an official suggestion regardless; there's strong evidence that ANet pays attention (although they very, very rarely have responded directly).  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:13, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Interesting (and very valid) question! I hope you'll make that official suggestion, 71, and I'm going to try my best to be sure it gets seen. -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 02:28, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

Ello, sorry to reply so late, ive been a bit occupied in life these days. Thank you Gaile for your response. I was looking at making a suggestion for this, but then i realized i have to have a wiki account, which i dont have, and dont see why i need to have one for a suggestion. 71.202.198.72 04:11, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Question

hey Gaile, got a few questions for you. I did Aurgary rock a few days ago and I kept getting dropped from the mission on my dervish. I did the mission on my warrior and I didn't drop at all. here is the odd part, when I removed all the skills from my Dervish I didn't drop at all. think there is something wrong with the mission regarding the unknown proph, even though the doubleganger did do some skills before dying. (and it looks really weird using scythe skills with an axe :D )
question two. I looked around and noticed that there will be Alpha and Bata testing. I know that that Beta will be done closer to the release date (which I've heard a date but who knows) but how would one put there name on the list for Alpha testing?
Lore Question. this goes on with a bit of gw2 and character profile. in gw 2 it is being advertised that what your personal story will affect your game play. with that in mind would that mean that if your character if human will be affected by the history of your ancestor? if not that would be odd (look at User:Ocren/Allesa Limera) who has a back story that I have made could possibly affect the interact with your character. for example, I make a human character with a Cantha decent who is the son or daughter of the great {insert hero name here} and all learn of that and possibly affects how some npc treats you remember those deeds they did, or that those npc heard the said stories and tell your character to do better or that your ansctor would be proud.
latest set of updates. LOVE THE DERV UPDATE AND THE MERCANARY SLOTS. Just wished Embark Beach would do more of what people wanted. as it sits it's starting to get alot of trade and talks. also the new characters are talking to the scouts and getting lost on the beach.
GW2 Wiki. don't know who to talk to on this one. but I get this on the gw2 wiki "Username entered already in use. Please choose a different name. Note that if you have already registered on the Guild Wars Wiki, that username and password are also functional here" but when I try to log in I can't?
lastly, I can write my story on my toons as long as I keep it on the gw wiki correct? Thanks for answering any of these in advance Gaile, Or anyone else who knows the answer Ocren 07:16, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

The answer to the lore question is no, your character's story will not be affected by anyone else's. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 14:37, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
thought so on that one, but it would be sweet if it could. because watching a demo they have a home instance which has all the things that affect your world so why not put it in there? I know the programming is alot but who knows what they could do? Ocren 14:51, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
It would multiply the number of storylines required to write by the number of storylines that are already written or planned for (multiplied by the number of story pieces times the number of places in the story that those story pieces could affect). I think I like their estimated release timeframe as it currently is. =P --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 17:42, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
i agree to that. going to be sweetOcren 22:47, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Nature Rituals

Hi Gaile! I've been using nature rituals in fort aspenwood kurzick side... But every time I cast one someone in my team calls me a griefer and then I get reported since they think I leech. Is it wrong if I use Edge of Extinction and Lacerate? I've never heard that theres builds that are not allowed. So what shall I do? I hope that I won't get banned. :) --87.100.204.144 13:18, 10 March 2011 (UTC)

Cute troll. In fairness, there should be a "griefing" selection on the report panel, since things like this can't be accurately categorized with the current selection. --ஸ Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 14:32, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Well... Nature Rituals have always been exciting in my eyes. So ofc I wanna use them. And EoE is the best/funniest skill in whole guild wars. I just want to make sure if it's okay to use them. That's all.--87.100.204.144 14:38, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Ok, giving the benefit of the doubt here. What are you trying to accomplish as Kurzick in FA? Defending, right? What type of creatures are you defending? Humans. What does EoE do? Damage everything of the same type that's killed. What is getting killed in FA? Humans. Effect of EoE: Every kill either your own side or the enemy side does damages people you are supposed to defend. Bringing some Nature Rituals (especially EoE) as a Kurzick can be considered griefing in this case. 81.234.120.18 00:38, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

LDoA and Alehound are no longer grindfests!

Having just stopped by your main page and seen your "future titles" section, and in light of the Embark Beach update, let me be the first to congratulate you on your having forborne seeking Defender and Drunkard until now - have fun pursuing these titles in a more reasonable manner! (And, as the obligatory side-note, respect to the old guard for both titles.) --Mercenary 07:45, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Oh, no, I might not have been clear. I've done the heavy lifting on Drunkard, the old-fashioned, one-click-at-a-time way. I just stop about 10 points short of max, so I could get the title with friends, as I did two of my others. I do agree that the change is positive; I just wish mine was a sparkly lavender to show that I got it in full-click mode. :) -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 23:14, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
I have not started Defender, so I'm pretty happy about that. :D -- Gaile User gaile 2.png 23:14, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
It would be kind of nice if there was a build sometime in the future to differentiate between those who acvhieved the title pre/post change. I'm assuming that that's impossible code-wise now and would have needed to occur when the change to drunk/ascalaon were introduced. Owell.--TahiriVeila 02:28, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
the introduction of the quest in pre will stop that stinking death lvling to to get a lousy 20exp. but it's sweet! Ocren 23:21, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
