SYSOP NOTICE - ALL EDITORS OF THIS PAGE PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING[edit]

Personally I think Raine's link to the warning was enough, as we shouldn't have to keep telling people how to use the wiki properly, however to circumvent any future discussions about their not being a clear warning. Here is a copy of the prior warning.:

The talk page for any particular game update, is to discuss that particular update. It is not to discuss updates that have yet to happen or you feel should have in some way happened. It is not to bitch and moan about the lack of said updates or to ride to the rescue and defend anet for the lack of said updates. This page is simply to discuss the attached mainpage. Now the sysop team has always been very flexible about this and allowed some degree of ancillary discourse around a topic on these pages, that strictly wasn't pertinent to the contents of the attached mainspace page, which is fine and dandy. However I'm stating it very clearly now, for the avoidance of future doubt, that the continual misuse of these pages (and the eventual troll fests they become), will not be tolerated on these pages any longer. If by the next update I see the same none relevant arguments over what hasnt been added. I will be handing out periodic bans to people. If you are upset by the delay in an update, tell a dev on their talk page (in a conducive manner without breaches of NPA) or go and post about it on a forum. Do not do so on this page or the subsequent talk pages attached to future updates. Regards -- Salome User salome sig2.png 02:57, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Just put this wall of text up above. Just makes it easier. Personally, I don't like clicking on links as trolls/idiots/funny-bastards like to link to irrelevent crap, so I wouldn't have seen it until I saw your wall here. Just put it up the top...do it, Capt'n. Also, caps can be considered hostile, not polite. Just put "SysOp Warning:" or something. ~~000.00.00.00~~ 05:14, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

It would appear that it removed some leftover Wintersday NPCs. They were some around a couple days ago at least. All that's left are hat givers. At least in LA. -- Konig/talk 01:52, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Banned as per above warning! -- Salome User salome sig2.png 01:56, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
"Banned as per above warning!" This isn't about the page either. Of course, neither is this very topic. Salome, you just went from absurd to hilarious. We'll meet again when I am unbanned and you realize that laws do not exist to be enforced for the whole sake of enforcing them. 88.153.105.75 01:59, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
On another note, do we know anything else about the update besides it looks like wintersday stuff is gone?Dervish-tango-icon-20.pngDevi Talk 02:02, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Not a clue yet matey. Seems like we will just have to wait and see but I think it was just festival clear up. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 02:02, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
There are 38 files downloaded, this has to be mAT rotation, and probably a few bug fixes(maybe a few nerfs and buffs). This is no major update. 173.32.190.24 02:13, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Salome, I apologize but I would like to ask you if you really think that everybody has had the oppurtunity to see that warning? I personally did not know of it until this entire conversation above. So is it fair to cite a warning that many people may not have had ample time to see? Once again just curious. I truly have no issue with the warning it is a good idea. Rogueonion 02:23, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
There does not need to be a warning. The warning was a luxury and a kindness provided by Salome for the rest of the community. Maybe you should make sure you understand the wiki usage guidelines BEFORE you use the wiki or you might get yourself in trouble, too. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 02:30, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

I will therefore respond to you rogue on your page. Lol. I bet she watches these pages just to get the thrill out of banning people.Lolderp.Pwrhazgon2som1shed. What harm does complaining about future updates do to a Wiki? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 122.111.229.52 (talk).

I think what causes more harm is comments like Musha's. Seriously ease down on the attitude and what could be interpreted as a threatening tone. I understand the need to enforce rules but threatening is not helpful, what Salome has done is more constructive and non threatening. It's a warning and I would prefer a constructive, articulate warning over a threat like "Maybe you should make sure you understand the wiki usage guidelines BEFORE you use the wiki or you might get yourself in trouble, too" any day. As I'm sure many users of this wiki would too. Thank you Salome. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.11.4.8 (talk).

I was content to ignore musha and that threatening tone but Mr. unknown HAS a point. Rogueonion 19:41, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
Salome, you are way out of line there with the ban. You banned this person without even giving him/her time to read your post. Even if the person had seen the post on older update pages, the person posted BEFORE you posted the warning. (Check the timestamps, you 1 hour later) Banning this person for starting a rather polite post about an update he/she wants is abuse of power in my point of view. If you have some honour left in you, unbann this character and continue with your job on a normal, less aggressive scale. (I am aware that this post is rather late, but I wanted to post my option about this matter since I felt is was unfair and smelt like abuse of power) ---- Demonic Cobra User Demonic Cobra Cobra icon.png 15:58, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
The user that created this section was banned for one day and that ban was reduced to 12 hours, so the user is no longer banned. [1] --Silver Edge 16:19, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
Check the timestamp on my post (which happens to be the page creation). That's the warning he's referring to. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 18:35, 15 Jan 2011 (UTC)
If you take the time to post that bit of text, then post the complete warning. Then you have the right to say, you have been warned. In this case, you expect some one to click on a link, read a history page and see the warning within the sea of text. Also, leave your treats at home when edited pages.. '"Dont do this or you will be banned."' It does not suit you as an admin / sysop. All I am asking for is clear rules in general, especially for these kind of pages, not some redirect links with warnings hidden in them. That should not be a problem, right? ---- Demonic Cobra 16:18, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
"Don't do this or you will be banned" is exactly what sysops do. It's an intervention to tell everyone to straighten up to avoid unnecessary bans, it would be a good idea to not go ahead and break the rules anyways. –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 18:42, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
"If you take the time to post that bit of text, then post the complete warning. Then you have the right to say, you have been warned."
I don't have to say you have been warned:
• The original warning is a courtesy on Salome's part.
• My link to it is further courtesy on my part.
• Salome's reposting of it is even further courtesy.
"In this case, you expect some one to click on a link, read a history page and see the warning within the sea of text."
• It was at the top of the page.
• It says "Please see this"; it's clear that it's intended to be seen.
• The noteworthy portion is in a bright green box.
"Also, leave your treats at home when edited pages. '"Dont do this or you will be banned."' It does not suit you as an admin / sysop."
• My edit summary contained a summary of the section that I'm editing, and this is a problem because..?
"All I am asking for is clear rules in general, especially for these kind of pages, not some redirect links with warnings hidden in them."
• See bullets 1-6.
"That should not be a problem, right?"
• That's not the problem, at all: the problem is that people are "indignant" (faux-indignant) over "not being informed" (they were informed three times more than required) of things that they should already know.
You're free to bring up any further concerns on my talk page, or the talkpages of anyone else you've taken issue with. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 2:14, 17 Jan 2011 (UTC)

Honestly I applaud Salome for the Ban. Causing a little uproar is the only way to start getting the message across to people. Unless a little word of mouth kicks in its just gonna keep cropping up. Kudos to salome for taking action and stepping up to take the Flak and Keep it up. Ban'em erryday. It's a bit of an overstep but overstep seems to be the only way to get anything done around here. --BriarUser Briar Sig 3.jpgThe Spider 07:19, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

TexMod[edit]

After the update, I can't get TexMod to work FrogKnight87 02:35, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Working fine for me. You may have to start GW once to update it (at which point Texmod will not work), and once again to make Texmod work again (at least thats the way it works for me), but i guess you already did that and more when saying "can't get it to work". -- 91.57.234.196 02:45, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Works for me too. Tried TextMod with Carto Made Easy map mod and it worked as expected. --82.226.191.237 02:50, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Tried again on multiple computers and it still doesn't work. One of my alliance member also experiences the same problem as I do FrogKnight87 02:51, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi, this might be a compatibility issue with windows7. Try making both Texmod and Gw run in Windows XP(right click, properties, compatibility, run in windows xp). 173.32.190.24 02:55, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
I'm running both on W7 with no issues. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 3:46, 7 Jan 2011 (UTC)
Yes, me too, but it depends on what your UAC is set to(and a few more things, lets not go into too much detail). Usually running both as windows xp compatibility fixes the problem for many people who got that. 173.32.190.24 03:59, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Works fine here, Win 7 64bit Home Premium. The first time I played after the update it didn't, had to close out and reopen TexMod, worked fine then---On another note, ever since I started using TexMod again after not using it for years, every time I try to use a salvage kit too quickly, it kicks me out saying I lost my connection, anyone else have that? Mysterious armor piece drop rate change[edit]

Before the update I got 3 mysterious armor pieces in 6 runs in The Shadow Nexus. After it I've gotten 0 in 6 runs, including 3 runs on an alternate character. - written by Laus Praeteritus

Drops are random, get used to it. G R E E N E R 03:25, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Hero armour has always had a really weird drop rate; it seems to cap out at around 3-4 then they stop dropping for like a month or two. This has been happening since Nightfall came out. --Curse YouCurse You(talk|contribs) 03:44, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Yeh and apparently a set number drops for each person. It's always been really odd. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 04:01, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Oh I noticed that for the corsair challenge, but I thought the drop rate changed after you got enough armor pieces for all your heroes, meaning 5 for Shadow Nexus. Maybe someone should update the relevant pages to reflect this information? - written by Laus Praeteritus
Developers do not change drop rates themselves(unless it is double something weekend). [2] You might find this interesting... 173.32.190.24 07:29, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Camera zooming[edit]

Is it me, or can you zoom out a lot further since the update? My character seems a lot smaller when I zoom out completely. User Dre Sig.pngDre 08:04, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Oddly, I have felt that the total zoom-out ability has changed a few times since I began playing this game. Of course, this is subjective, and may be related to the quality of the chair that I use, as well as my posture. G R E E N E R 08:35, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Yeah... it does seem a bit further out than before. Not by much, but further. -- Konig/talk 08:52, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
I don't know. I generally play with the camera fully zoomed out most of the time, and I don't notice any difference. Stop getting me excited :( – NuclearDuckie 11:14, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
I concur. It does seem to go a little further, not a lot though. It may be just wishful thinking. - Mocceb 13:32, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
In all likelihood it's just the power of suggestion, but there could be some merit. Does anyone have an idea of how to test it objectively? User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 14:08, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

I usually play fully zoomed out as well, but my character seems a bit smaller than usually. Could be an illusion though (damn mesmers :P). User Dre Sig.pngDre 16:06, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
That's what I thought at first after being somewhat inactive for a couple weeks, but I don't think it has changed. (based on these 2 screenshots, one from 10-24-2010 and the other from 10 minutes ago: http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/12/1/446933/gw002.jpg and http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/12/1/446933/gw006-1.jpg). I wish I could zoom out more though. FC 17:01, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
Zooming is affected also by where you are. If you have your back against a wall or are in a cave you will not be able to zoom as far out as say if you are in open territory. Rogueonion 18:22, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
To add to that, in some parts of Echovald Forest I've noticed the camera zoom out like 10× as far as normal when I've got my back to one of those massive trees. Wish I could keep it like that permanently. :P – NuclearDuckie 02:55, 8 January 2011 (UTC)
I had noticed that as well and wish it would stay that was also. Rogueonion 04:08, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

Female eles bug fix??[edit]

Am I the only one who notices that after this update female eles can /sit properly, not like they not used to?

/stand, too. --MushaUser Musha Sigc.png 01:00, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
I confirm that it, all female characther that share the same sitting emote have it differently, and also includes de different one shared by female monks and rangers
I'm sorry, but what has changed exactly? Female eles, mesmers, dervs, necros, rits, paras, and sins still all share the same sitting emote (which looks closer to kneeling in my opinion), while all other professions have the 'leaning to the right' sitting emote, just like before the update. Am I missing something here? --Adul 10:11, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
The animations are slighty different now, its like they updated in a small way the way the hands moves I am pretty certain for example the ranger monk female emote didnt start as it starts now, the way she put the palms into the group to enable her to sit, that change is very visable while the other the "kneeling" one the right hand holding on the thight to support her descent althought slight wasn't there before, the animations became more fluid and more realistic, I may not be 100% sure on the "kneeling" one but on the other I am positive on it.
I'm with Adul on that one. I can't see any difference. Not that it really matters IMO, never thought there's something wrong with that ele emote. --Goniek Talk 15:36, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
FWIW, movements look more fluid/natural to me. 69.179.144.93 03:51, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Bug that caused some players to become stuck in the War in Kryta content[edit]

For me nothing change. after last update i can get quest A Little Help From Above, I ended Riverside Assassination with friend and he take A Little Help From Above, me not. My char is from Cantha, but i hear that other ppl from guild can do that quest and fishin all quest with War in Kryta, i wanna finish that and do new, but i can't - its my mine char :(

I'm sorry that you are having trouble finishing WiK. Are you saying that when you visit Princess Salma in LA Keep, she does not offer A Little Help From Above after you accept the reward for Riverside Assassination? Try returning without anyone other players in your party.
I doubt that anything happened because of the game update itself — let us know what, if any, quest she does offer. Also, tell us what the Wanted by the Shining Blade! sign offers you. That should (I hope) provide enough info for us to help you better.  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 22:03, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
I have returned quest Riverside Assassination with someone in my party, and now i cant get new A Little Help From Above, with on my own or in party, just cant - Lilith 07:32, 10 January 2011
Could you answer these other questions?
  1. What quests do you currently have in your log, under Kryta? and under Primary quests?
  2. When you visit Princess Salma (alone, in LA Keep), what quests or dialogue does she offer?
Thanks  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:14, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

Screen says all, but i dont have primary quest, and under Kryta i only have Wanted Quest's. And Salma dont give me any quest's anly dialog on screen. :(

Dude you have to do the three wanted quests to continue through WiK. So, go kill Lovisa, Bauer, and the other one, then try to get your quest. Rogueonion 20:56, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Excuse me, I spoke too soon, I meant to say Lovisa, but it may be a good idea to clear you wanted quests (just kill all three) just in case. Rogueonion 20:57, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) You need to do all 3 Inquisitor Bounties (Bauer, Lovisa, Lashona) before you can so special Shining Blade missions. These bounties, unlike others offered by the sign, are always available as long as you meet their requirements, and are non-repeatable. It's visible on your screenshot that you haven't yet done Lovisa. --Adul 20:59, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
If you still have trouble after going after the Inquisitors, I recommend speaking to Murro in Lion's Arch (he's across the steps from the lower xunlai storage chests); take his The War in Kryta quest, which will also help guide you through the remainder of the War. Good luck and please let us know how it goes. (BTW: there's no need to complete any of the other Wanted! Just make sure you kill all three Inquisitors and get credit for their deaths w/Salma).  — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 21:05, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
There was an issue where after completing riverside assassination, I had to redo the 3 wanteds as noted above before a little help from above was offered. It kind of stunk having to repeat the 3 wanteds, but once done I continued on with WIK without issue. I don't know if it was a build issue or I had set aside WIK after completing riverside assassination for over a month...--PackerFanDoug 18:25, 17 January 2011 (UTC)
