Shockwave[edit]

No shockwave nerf yet? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.214.32.117 (talk).

And I get the feeling they never will be; Unless perhaps they release Elementalist Update Pt 2... 82.11.226.30 03:43, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
I thought they already nerfed it? 142.229.136.225 21:47, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
If by nerf you mean buff, then yes. Random Weird Guy 16:54, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
If you can't counter shockwave...your a bad player, even with my war in RA i can counter shockwave, my mesmer counter's shockwave easy, oh and to make it easier...dont EVER ball in PvP/PvE, always have enough distance AoE effects are minimal to nothing, hell i dont ever monk, not even in PvE and played monk in RA the other day, shockwave was a yawn to heal pass/condition removal, glimmering mark is more of a bitch for my war to counter, so enough said--144.137.195.183 02:42, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Connection issues[edit]

After this update I've started getting "Your connection to the friends server was lost. Click below to reconnect." I can still play but I can't talk without getting a "Your network login has expired. Please enter your password to renew it." That also happens a lot when switching characters. This seems to happen randomly in guild hall, in dungeons and in outposts. I even got a 021 error earlier today when swapping characters. 78.73.69.53 00:28, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

I've also had this problem since the update, it's quite annoying when I'm trying to buy/sell things. Random Weird Guy 16:57, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm guess i'm in this party too, random friends list resets and also horrible 3-5 sec pauses (ping monitor stays green/orange) i dunno how if it isn't a bad ping whats the pause for so long. hope they do a hotfix or i guess i'm gonna email support and call them monday. It was stable for a while. Its also causing lagg/dc sometimes when ppl pm me. 71.168.78.220 21:35, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
Me too, guaranteedcommon "expired login" on char switch. Adding to page. 178.201.228.53 01:44, 8 July 2012 (UTC) edit: not guaranteed. only when i'm not trying to reproduce it.
Please report your symptoms on the official forums (this will increase the likelihood that it is addressed quickly). – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 02:27, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
emailed them and a few ppl have been moaning about the recent connection issues in the support forums since the update happened. When old issues keep coming back with a vengeance it's another reason i probably won't be going to gw2 (even tho i bought it already).Update was the 5th and they did server maintenance after so i bet its the rest of the weekend (when ppl actually have time to play) before we see a fix (wait... it was fixed before... for a while). Yes, updates are nice but when its not a critical update maybe it would be wise to schedule them for early in the week, just in case it causes unforeseen issues so that they have time to get bug reports and fix it for when most ppl actually play. It used to be this issue was caused by your firewall/router settings it was working perfect on my end so whats causing it now? 71.168.78.220 03:20, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
It's good that you reported the bug, but you should know that ANet responds more rapidly to issues posted on the official forums than to email. (The devs see those as soon as they want, in contrast to email which has to wait for the support team to review.)
The symptoms this weekend are entirely different than any I've seen reported about previous (but similar) issues. So, it's not (imo) a recurrence of a problem we have seen before, but something new. Also, the latest update was a (theoretically) simple one, the likes of which they have done every month for years without any issues, so it was hardly likely to be something that they worried about. There's also a good chance that the issue has nothing to do with the game update, since the symptoms I've seen only involve issues with logon and/or the friend list server — the problem might be a faulty server (or three).
Still, ANet does have people that work weekends and if this had been reported as soon as people started seeing it, it might well have been fixed on the weekend. The only note I've seen on official forums is something about someone being online in the guild but offline otherwise. That's a related symptom, but doesn't sound as serious as being DC'd or being required to re-authenticate repeatedly. Even the players responding to the thread saw it as a one-off issue, so I doubt anyone at ANet was too concerned. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 05:13, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm not even sure why they use the term "friends server." It's just a secondary term for the login server. Getting disconnected from the login server will only affect the friend list and changing characters. The reason for that being when you attempt to connect with another character the game server needs security keys from the login server. Also you won't appear offline in your guild as all guild info is handled by the game server. 78.47.250.35 05:26, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
It has gotten worse for me; sat around in Great temple of Balthazar last night, doing nothing really, got disconnected from the friends server in American, then International and then Europe english districts. Have not tried asian districts yet but really... Today I went afk for a bit in Divinity coast outpost (American D1) and came back to a 007 error. I've seen something about recent 007 errors being fixed but I've never had any issues until right after this update. 78.73.69.53 20:36, 8 July 2012 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Update: as of about 4 hours before this post, John Foreman posted on the official forums that ANet was looking into the friend-list server glitches. Unfortunately, he closed all of the relevant posts so if you are still seeing these issues, I recommend starting a new thread there.

(As a side note, I think mods/devs shouldn't close bug reports except when the issue is addressed or merged with an existing report...but there you have it.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 00:27, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

There's only one, unclosed report on the official forums at the moment, with only one respondent. If people are still seeing this issue, I recommend adding your voice so that ANet realizes (a) it's not yet addressed and (b) people think it's interferring with game play (and/or their enjoyment thereof) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 05:50, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
not sure where you're looking chap but the post I'm looking at on the support forum about this issue is open and has 29 replies https://forum.guildwars.com/forum/forums/tech/Disconnect-from-friends-list/page/1#post1224990.211.227.148 12:13, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Well, chap, I've been looking in the gamebugs section, which gets frequent comments from the dev team; the post you quote is in the tech forum, which doesn't seem to get any official comments (in particular, I don't see that threads get closed here...unless the mods decide they aren't appropriate). I agree with you that there are a dozen comments from players in the last few days on the tech post you linked, but none from ANet.
Accordingly, I think it's more likely that ANet will address and comment on this issue if people post in the gamebugs area than in the tech area, but it's really up to each individual to decide that. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:53, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
