Arc Lightning[edit]

Arc Lightning would be more or less random, which does not bode well unless it is multiple targets (chain Lightning). --Life Infusion «T» 03:37, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes, it hits another foe whenever it strikes a foe hexed with water magic. If you target someone hexed with a water magic skill, then it hits someone else, too. It can bounce around and hit a clustered midline hexed with Rust, or a balled frontline under Blurred Vision. Or whatever. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 2:12, 16 Nov 2010 (UTC)

Blinding Surge[edit]

Your b-surge buff would make it really strong, to the point of being overpowered. --Life Infusion «T» 03:37, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Actually, the change to bsurge was more of a nerf.
There are no nonelite air magic skills with cast times faster than 1s, so in order to successfully inflict Blind, an ele would have to use a skill with 1s or higher activation: this makes the blind much more vulnerable to disruption. On top of that, they're being forced to use a skill that they may/may not have wanted to use on a Warrior; throwing Lightning Strike or some such at a warrior is arguably a waste of time. The alternative is using something like Enervating Charge, which they'd be using on wars, anyway; however, this begs the question: is it really worth putting a blind on top of that? Finally, the ele in question would be spending more time and energy overall for the less of an effect (blind duration is decreased), which is a direct nerf.
The only situations where bsurge would shine would be in situations where eles are dealing AoE damage with casts, like with Chain Lightning or Arc Lightning. However, the reality is that those extra blinds would, in all likelyhood, land on characters that did not need to be blind. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 2:10, 16 Nov 2010 (UTC)

Gust[edit]

Gust has to compete with Psychic Instability, which it cannot. --Life Infusion «T» 03:37, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

No, Gust has to compete with Mind Shock (which is very usable), which it does admirably. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 2:10, 16 Nov 2010 (UTC)

Lightning Bolt[edit]

The problem with your Lightning bolt is that mesmers can use it, too. You probably want exhaustion to be the limiting factor, like with Gale. --Life Infusion «T» 03:37, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

It's still a 1.4-second skill. Reliably interrupting with a 1.4-second skill is functionally the same as doing it with a 2-second skill: it relies entirely on prediction. Mesmers trade off an ele's damage and ability to use Gale effectively for... not much. I don't have a problem with that. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 2:10, 16 Nov 2010 (UTC)

Lightning Hammer[edit]

The problem with your Lightning bolt is that mesmers can use it, too. You probably want exhaustion to be the limiting factor, like with Gale. --Life Infusion «T» 03:37, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Mesmers can use Chain Lightning and Invoke Lightning, too. They could use Lightning Hammer now, if they wanted to. Why would a mesmer want to, though? These skills do nothing but damage, and an ele could use the same skills to do damage more effectively. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 2:10, 16 Nov 2010 (UTC)

Windborne Speed[edit]

I especially like the Windborne Speed buff though.--Life Infusion «T» 03:37, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. — Raine Valen User Raine R.gif 2:10, 16 Nov 2010 (UTC)
