Focus item

A focus item is an item that is held in the off-hand, typically granting an energy bonus to the character. High end focus items only offer the full energy increase to characters which meet the requirement of the focus, though they will still give a small energy bonus even if the requirement is not met.

• "Focus item" is actually a Hendiadys. This type of item was likely rather named like this to evade use of the exceptional plural term of the word "Focus", which is either "Foci" or "Focuses". The items of this type themselves do not bear this rhetorical device, and are named normally, like Droknar's Focus or the Mursaat Focus for example.
