Game master
From Guild Wars Wiki
A Game Master is an in-game administrator who works for ArenaNet or NCsoft and who can interact with players in-game, make announcements, ban and suspend accounts, and tag accounts with an account mark.
Messages from GMs appear in a teal color in the chat; however, they can talk in chats without using the colored text. Gaile Gray had a special purple chat color at her own request; she had this until she changed positions within the company. Before the March 2, 2006 update, all GM messages appeared in green.
Linsey Murdock has stated that the /.gm command only works for people with those permissions and it only enables the Game master powers on that account for a limited period of time after which they decay and have to be re-enabled. Not everyone who works within ArenaNet has GM powers on the live servers.

[edit] GM commands
GM's are very limited in what they can do on the live servers. They cannot spawn items or gold, give themselves titles, give themselves /rank emotes, or do anything that could change the in-game economy. They can, however, do the following:
- Die anywhere (In an outpost, in an explorable area, or in a PvP match). This death doesn't give the GM death penalty, but it does give Necromancers their appropriate energy gain. They can't revive themselves once dead. They can use this command by typing "/.die".
- Examine someone's experience, fame, skill points, and champion points. They can use this by clicking on someone in an outpost or an explorable area and typing "/.examine".
- Spawn fireworks in outposts. These fireworks last for 30 minutes and can be used by typing "/.fireworks".
- Teleport. This is done by first clicking where the GM wants to go and then typing /.teleport which teleports them there. This can be used to get outside of gates when a timer is still counting down.
- Mute any player so that he or she can not talk in any chat channel using "/.mute".
- Turn their GM sign on or off using /.gm.
- Resurrect using /.resurrect.
