[edit] Guide to maxing titles
[edit] General suggestions
- Make use of synergies (noted below) to reduce the overall amount of time spent pursuing all tracks.
- Set short and long term goals for completing tracks.
- Farm reputation titles after vanqiushing all of the areas that contribute to them, e.g. do not farm Lightbringer points until you finish vanquishing the areas that add those points; you might not have to farm at all.
- Take advantage of weekend events:
- The double-points reduce the amount of required farming.
- It will be easier to coordinate with others who have the same goals (making farming more fun and often faster).
- Take advantage of various daily quests that increase the rate of progress against additional titles:
- Some Zaishen Missions, Zaishen Bounties, and Zaishen Vanquishes add points towards reputation-based titles in Factions (Savior of the Kurzicks and/or Luxons), Nightfall (Lightbringer & Sunspear), and EotN (Asuran, Deldrimor, Ebon Vanguard, & Norn).
- Remember to capture skills from bosses, especially during Zaishen and Shining Blade Bounties.
- Foes from Vanguard Quests in pre-Searing can be farmed to progress both Defender of Ascalon and Survivor titles.
[edit] Reaching rank 6 (GWAMM) quickly
The following priority order takes advantage of synergies to reach God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals "quickly":
- Any character
- Master of the North, followed by the EotN reputation ranks (+1 +4; Total: 5) (Allows using maximized PvE skills to progress other titles.)
- Protector & Guardian (+ 3 + 3 +1; Total: 12)
- Vanquisher, Cartography, and Skill Hunter (+4 +4 +4; Total: 24)
- Sunspear & Lightbringer (which might already be maxed) (+2; Total: 26)
- The two easiest consumable-based titles: Drunkard and Party Animal. (+2; Total: 28)
- Then any 2 of the following 7 (+2, Total: 30):
- Luxon/Kurzick (requires grind)
- Sweet Tooth (spammable sweets are harder to obtain in bulk than Alcohol or spammable party items)
- Treasure Hunter, Wisdom, Lucky and Unlucky (requires some type of commitment to farming)
- Survivor (easy for some, but not to everyone's taste)
- Prophecies characters only
If possible, start with Legendary Defender of Ascalon before leaving pre-Searing Ascalon; that will reduce to 1 the total number of titles needed by step six (above).
[edit] Title requirement evaluation
This table compares the difficulty of reaching the maximum rank in each of the title tracks.
| Title | Count | Cost | Duration1 | Mode | Other comments |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Legendary Defender of Ascalon | 1 | | Medium | PvE | Pre-Searing characters only. |
| Survivor | 1 | | Medium/Short | PvE (NM/HM) | Medium duration with safe tactics. Short duration if using risky tactics or trading for certain quest items. Vague synergies with Skill Hunter and any title that requires killing foes. |
| Protector | 3 | | Medium | PvE (NM) | Aim for masters on first try to reduce backtracking. Vague synergies if you wait for Zaishen Missions and use Zaishen Coins to buy items for consumable titles. |
| Guardian | 3+1 | | Medium | PvE (HM) | Aim for masters on first try to reduce backtracking. Vague synergies if you wait for Zaishen Missions and use Zaishen Coins to buy items for consumable titles. |
| Vanquisher | 3+1 | | Long | PvE (HM) | Caravan vanquish when possible. Synergizes with Cartographer. Vague synergies if you take advantage of Zaishen Vanquish to earn points towards reputation-based titles and use Zaishen Coins to buy items for consumable titles. |
| Cartographer | 3+1 | | Medium | PvE (NM) | Faster if using Texmod. Synergizes with Vanquisher. |
| Skill Hunter | 3+1 | ~290 (290 Signets of Capture) | Medium | PvE (NM) | Synergizes with vanquishing, cartography, and mission completion. (See main article for details on costs.) |
| Master of the North | 1 | | Long | PvE (HM) | Title is a combination of cartography, mission completion and vanquishing. |
| Reputation ranks (Asura, Norn, Deldrimor, and Ebon Vanguard) | 4 | | Medium | PvE (HM) | Speed book to turn in multiple Hero's Handbooks. Farm during Eye of the North Reputation Weekend events. |
| Sunspear & Lightbringer | 2 | | Medium | PvE (HM) | Likely to max by efficient use of bounties while vanquishing. You can also farm The Sulfurous Wastes during Double Sunspear & Lightbringer Points events. |
| Luxon/Kurzick | 2 | | Long | PvE and PvP | Participate in Alliance battles, Fort Aspenwood, Jade Quarry, or speed clears of Mount Qinkai or Morostav Trail especially during applicable Double Luxon and Kurzick title points events. |
| Drunkard | 1 | 2000 (10,000 Dwarven Ales) | Short/Medium | None | Buy drinks from other players to reduce costs. Farm Gifts of the Huntsman. |
| Sweet Tooth | 1 | 2000 (5,000 Red Bean Cakes/ 10,000 War Supplies) | Short/Medium | None | Buy sweets from other players to reduce costs. Farm Gifts of the Huntsman. |
| Wisdom | 1 | 40 | Long | None | If possible, buy Identification Kits from outpost Faction merchants to reduce costs. Synergizes with Treasure Hunter, vanquishing. |
| Treasure Hunter | 1 | ~4800 | Long | PvE (NM/HM) | Contributes to Lucky and Unlucky titles if using lockpicks. (Minimum 220 hours if committed to chest running.) Farm Golden Eggs during Sweet Treat Weekend. |
| Lucky and Unlucky | 2 | ~2206 (by playing Nine Rings) | Long | PvE | Play Nine Rings (724 hours AFK or open chests using lockpicks. |
| Party Animal | 1 | ~33 (3,334 Crate of Fireworks) | Long/Medium | None | Buy party items from other players to reduce costs. Farm Gifts of the Huntsman, the Chest of Wintersday Past. Zone to/from guild hall to spam tonics and fireworks. |
| Gamer | 1 | | Varies | None | Can only be completed through special events' minigames. |
| Zaishen rank | 1 | 100,000,000 Balthazar faction, 100,000 Tournament Reward Points, or 20,000 (20,000 Zaishen Keys) | Long | PvP or PvE (NM) | Farm Zaishen Elite or buy Zaishen Keys or Flames of Balthazar from players or play PvP. |
- 1 Duration: generally assumes that players progress the various campaigns with reasonable efficiency; it is not meant to reflect the total spent by any particular player, which can vary substantially.
- Short: the title can be easily spammed; there are substantial shortcuts available to everyone, no grind or resources are necessary, or it can be done easily while playing through the game (without too many other considerations). These titles require Days (if not Weeks) of effort. Some casual players will need more time to acquire these titles, e.g. Drunkard can take a while unless one buys alcohol from others.
- Medium: requires some grind and consumes resources; there are shortcuts that a lot of people can manage. These titles require Weeks (if not Months) of effort. Some veteran players will manage these titles as fast as short (such as Survivor).
- Long: requires substantial grind; few true shortcuts are available. These titles require Months (if not Years) of effort and/or significant investment of long-term resource.
[edit] Title synergies
You can progress several titles at once, reducing your overall investment of time. Some of these synergies include:
| Survivor + Skill hunter + Protector | A fun way towards Survivor, and less to do later. |
| Vanquish + Cartography + Skill hunter (pick up as you go) | Scrape areas as you Vanquish them, and bring some cap sig's if your build permits it. Less to be done later. |
| Vanquish in Elona + Sunspear + Lightbringer | It should be enough to max Sunspear, and less to farm for Lightbringer. |
| Protector to access any later areas | Always try for Protector if you need to do a mission, unless it puts a risk on Survivor. |
| Allegiance + Treasure Hunter + Wisdom | Find a spot with bounties or repeatable quests that also have chests scattered along the way. |
| Allegiance or Vanquish to finance other titles | Farming and keyless chest runs may provide better income, but they don't contribute to titles. |
| Treasure Hunter + Wisdom + Lucky/Unlucky | Using lockpicks will give credit towards the lucky/unlucky tracks depending on whether they break or not. |
| Keyless chest runs + Wisdom | If doing keyless chest runs to finance other titles. |
| Treasure Hunter + Wisdom + Lucky/Unlucky + Drunkard + Survivor | Repeat the Fronis Irontoe dungeon (HM) - there's always a locked chest there so don't forget to bring a lockpick and you get 2 Ales from the dungeon chest. (KO's don't count as deaths, that's where the Survivor title fits in) |
| Party + Sweet Tooth + Wisdom + Treasure Hunter + Lucky/Unlucky + Deldrimor | Farm Snowmans Dungeon in HM to yield around 3k deldrimor points and sweet tooth/party points from the end chest. There are also 4-5 locked chests, which often contain golds. |
| Zaishen + Wisdom | Weapons that come out of the Zaishen Chest will always be golds. |
| Lucky/Unlucky + Kurzick/Luxon + Treasure Hunter + Wisdom | These titles are account wide; once maxed, they apply to all characters, reducing the overall time spent pursuing GWaMM for more than one character. |
[edit] Notes
- The Rainbow Phoenix will appear in the Hall of Monuments to characters that have maxed 10 titles (People Know Me).
- It can also appear for Kind Of A Big Deal (5 titles) if other conditions are met, the exact details of which have not yet been confirmed (see the pet's talk page for the research)
- It will always appear in individual-accomplishment mode if all monuments are filled (i.e. are displaying the maximum number of statues).
- It will usually appear in account-wide mode if the character has added their own tapestries and all monuments are filled.
- It can also appear in either mode with fewer statues.
- The Rainbow Phoenix will only appear if an eligible character enters the Hall of Monuments alone; it will not appear if there are other players or heroes in the party.
- It can also appear for Kind Of A Big Deal (5 titles) if other conditions are met, the exact details of which have not yet been confirmed (see the pet's talk page for the research)
