The history of the Atlantis Gaters begins on another planet far, far away, known as Lantea. Only a chosen few know that visitors from Earth traveled through the Stargate system from Lantea to the world of Tyria where a Stargate had been discovered hidden in the human nation of [1]Orr. Exploratory and research teams reported to Stargate Command that a mysterious system of gates had been discovered beneath the Krytan continent, in an area known by locals as the Tarnished Coast. It was rumored this gate system reached as far as the Shiverpeak mountains, and perhaps into Ascalon itself.

[2]These ‘Asuran Gates’ had similarities to the Stargate technology, and the lore of the local Asurans made vague references that the gates had been present for millennia and developed by those they only knew as Ancients. Stargate researchers further suspected that the races of Tyria were a result of colonization by the Ancients themselves in a time before any can recall.

Over the following years several research teams had been assigned to integrate into the societies on the continents of Tyria, Elona, and Cantha, where they continued to investigate the early development of civilization on that lush yet cruel world. These teams had become so merged into the local population, there was no suspicion that the Gaters were not native to the planet at all.

In the year 1070AE, disaster struck. A warring race called the Charr [3]invaded Ascalon and with the help of their Titan god’s magic The Searing destroyed all the area around Ascalon. They continued their invasion to the human nation of Orr. The humans fought back and, in their folly, used a devastating magical weapon that not only destroyed the Charr, but shattered the earth and the peninsula of Orr sank into the sea, taking the broken and ruined Stargate with it. The people of Earth and Lantea were stranded without hope of ever returning to their native worlds.

The sole survivor of his team, Commander Jaydn Kor began searching the lands for other Gaters who had become dispersed throughout the continents; some by choice as they studied the different societies, and some who had fled the Searing and were lost among the refugees of Ascalon. After long years of fruitless wandering, he finally discovered a small settlement in the Echovald Forest where a few Gaters lived, and the Atlantis Gaters guild was born.

Commander Kor has since retired from his command, passing the torch to Sir Booman to continue to lead the guild; to find those who had been lost, and to keep their history as people of Earth from disappearing into legend and myth. Hope remains in the guild to someday find the ZPM module that had powered the Stargate, and perhaps with the help of the Asuran gate technology build a new Stargate by which they could return. However, the nation of Orr is now fathoms beneath the Sea of Sorrows, and they must find a way to search beneath the dark waters. Unless, by some chance of fate, in the future the land of Orr finds its way to the surface again. But that is another story!
