History

The Sentinels of Orr were formed on June 22nd, 2008 after the release of Eye of the North and the announcement of Guild Wars 2. Wanting to establish a guild that would work together to conquer all the game had to offer before Guild Wars 2 came out, the leaders of The Templars of the Republic [TotR], Spiffy Guild [crap], and the Black Lotus Order [BLO] - as well as members of the Rivendell Guild [LotR] and the Seekers of Valinor [eYe] - banded together.

On July 11th, 2009, the Sentinels of Orr Celebrated their first birthday in style by hosting a large party that night as well as a 2 versus 2 PvP tournament the next day. This feat was repeated on October 30th when they held the first annual "Imra's Monster Mash and Birthday Bash" which was a party and a 4 versus 4 PvP tournament - this time each participant being required to wear a festival hat as a "costume" for the duration of each match.

On Thursday, December 3rd, the Sentinels of Orr left the Rivendell Guild alliance to join the Everlasting Sacred Path alliance.

Current Goals

The vast majority of the guild has beaten the three campaigns and the expansion in hard mode, but for those who have not, the guild is committed to helping them finish. In addition, the guild currently enjoys all forms of high-end PvE from Zaishen Quests to elite areas - such as the Domain of Anguish, the Underworld, and Slaver's Exile - as well as filling out their titles and Halls of Monuments. The guild does not do much PvP, but forays into competitive play usually include Alliance Battles, competitive missions, and the new Codex Arena. Most important of all is that all members be mature and friendly.

Notable Accomplishments

In addition to PvE prowess, the guild takes pride in coming up with interesting challenges to test the game knowledge and abilities of its players. One such challenge was to create a build that would allow someone to run from the Sunspear Sanctuary through the Desolation to Vabbi in order to get Vabbian Armor at an early level. Two members - Vv W and Sandy - finally came up with a 2-man build for this task which on December 21st, 2009 recieved a "Good" rating on PvX Wiki.

Guild Lore

Spoiler alert: The following text contains spoilers relating to the story of Guild Wars Prophecies, Guild Wars Factions, Guild Wars Nightfall, and Guild Wars: Eye of the North.

The Sentinels of Orr were an ancient order reaching back to the time before the Cataclysm. The order was originally five members, each one named to the order by one of the five true gods - for the sole purpose of guarding the Lost Scrolls from the fallen god, Abbadon. The scrolls remained undisturbed for years, until l070 AE when King Reza of Orr and his advisor, Vizier Khilbron, demanded that their magic be used to defend Orr from the coming onslaught at the hands of the Charr. The five guardians did not give in, and so the King of Orr brought his entire army down on the guardians, not defeating them, but forcing them into exile in Ascalon. Witnessing the Cataclysm from the outside, the Sentinels of Orr gained a new mission - to seek out the influence of Abbadon wherever it may be and fight it. They have recruited many to their order and fought against the Charr and the Titans, Shiro and the Afflicted, and Varesh and the Nightfall - eventually facing down the fallen god himself and winning. Furthermore, after seeing visions of the future from the gods themselves, the Sentinels of Orr fought against the Great Destroyer believing it would lead to the return of their homeland. Although Abbadon is defeated, the five guardians - now calling themselves the "Council of Elders" - still lead their guild into battle against Abbadon's remnants such as the newly risen Dhuum and the rogue Margonite General Mallyx, and await the day their homeland returns from the bottom of the Sea of Sorrows.

Structure

Leadership

The Counsil of Elders

The guild is led by a "Counsil of Elders," which includes one representative from each guild that the Sentinels of Orr received members from during the merger:

  • Imra Jamila Alshams [TotR] (Founding member)
  • Sandy the Assassin [FeAr] (Added to Counsil in 2011 to help facilitate full merger with [LotR].)
  • Tay Tay the Healer [eYe] (Named as replacement to original [LotR] representative Vivian White Angel who returned to [LotR] after founding.)
  • Vivian White Angel [LotR] (Founding member, returned to Counsil as part of full merger in 2011 with LotR making Tay Tay the Healer a permanent member as well.)
  • Volrik the Blazing [BLO] (Founding member)
  • Vv W [crap] (Founding member)
  • Wolven Cor Hellstar [eYe] (Founding member)

Each leader serves for a period of one month and then passes leadership to another council member depending on who plans on being the most active during that month. If a council member needs to vacate their seat, they must name a successor that is agreed upon by the remaining council members. All council members not serving as leader serve as officer during that time.

Officers

Officers are very important in the Sentinels of Orr structure as they often have a vote in any significant action regarding guild affairs. To be named an officer, you must have been in the guild for at least one month - or have been in the guild at the time of its forming - and receive the blessings of at least three council members.

The Constitution

The guiding document of the Sentinels of Orr is a constitution which states the guidelines the guild has in terms of leadership, succession, behavior, recruitment, activity levels, and due process. The Sentinels of Orr try whenever possible to apply democratic principles to the current affairs of the guild - often requiring unanimous agreement of the council as well as a majority of officers for any serious action. It was passed by unanimous consent of the counsil on July 16th, 2009.

Recruitment

The Sentinels of Orr are always seeking new and active members. They typically abide by the following standards, though these can be waived if there are mitigating circumstances:

  • The new member be 16 years of age or older (preferably 18 years of age or older) and act in a manner that would be considered "mature" by the average player.
  • The new member should have completed at least one campaign or expansion in hard mode (preferably all of them).

Any member who wishes to join the Sentinels of Orr should contact Imra Jamila Alshams, the head recruiter, in-game.
