Guild Summary

Formerly Foe Hammers [FH] (formed on June 9th 2005), we changed our name to the Knights of Arah [Arah] on June 10th 2007. We are a fairly small guild, mainly of casual players, but we are trying to gain some momentum in PvP, especialy Heroes Ascent and GvG.

Recruitment

The Knights of Arah are currently looking for active and mature PvE players and we are currently at work on a website and forums. If you're interested in joining or have some questions for us, contact Fox.

PvP

The Knights of Arah, for the most part is a guild that is based around PvE gameplay. We are occasionaly seen participating in Alliance Battles, but for the most part stick to PvE. We are currently working on Heroes' Ascent builds, as well as builds for GvG.

Rules & Policies

For the most part we're pretty laid back, all I expect from members is maturity. I really don't care about swearing in chat, but any racist and/or sexist comments, spamming in guild or alliance chat, and vulgarity will not be tolerated. Also, please don't beg for money from any members (asking for like one or two platinum or some extra materials is fine) and for the most part I will not pay for runs (a few exceptions). Also please sound intelligent in guild chat (not really a rule, but I prefer you do).

A Brief History

The Knights of Arah were a sacred order who's duty was to protect the holy city of Arah. During their time in Tyria the Knights were peace keepers, often seen as protectors of the people, and unlike most guilds, the Knights did not participate in the Guild Wars. All Knights were required to take an oath: "I, [Name], pledge my allegiance to the nation of Orr and vow to uphold the sacred duty of a Knight. From this moment on I shall take on a life of selflessness, and I shall henceforth become a guardian of the Orrian people, and the protector of Arah. I shall devote myself to the divine service of the Five Gods and carry out their will onto the world of man." this oath would forever bind them to the order in both life and death. The Knights were led by Lord Alexander Veldmar, a holy warrior who was rumored to have gained audience with the gods and was blessed with a "divine power" allowing him to speak with the gods. Veldmar would often send his Knights on "holy quests" to carry out the will of the gods and thus gained a reputation throughout Tyria, word of these quests even reached parts of Elona and Cantha.

The Knights eventually met their end at The Cataclysm. As the Charr invaded the Kingdom of Orr, Veldmar sent out his Knights to defend the gates of Arah. As the fighting took place throughout Orr, Veldmar and his Elite Honor Guard, as well as many monks remained in Arah praying to the Gods for the strength to destroy the Charr. Sadly, they got their wish and The Cataclysm destroyed Orr. Most of the Knights were killed in The Cataclysm along with Veldmar, who was at the epicenter of the spell, was cursed by The Cataclysm's power, which destroyed his material body and bound his soul to the realm of the living.

But this was not the end for the Knights...

The Knights Today

Today the Knights have reunited under a mysterious elementalist who appeared as if out of nowhere. With a few faithful followers at his side, this elementalist claimed leadership of the Knights of Arah by the order of the great Alexander Veldmar himself and by the divine will of the Gods. One by one the surviving Knights, as well as many Orrian refugees united under the elementalist's banner ready to serve the Gods once more in the name of Orr and the holy city of Arah.

Currently the Knights' efforts have been concentrated in Southern Tyria. They are constantly working to push back the hoards of undead originating from the sunken ruins of Orr and on occasion have had small clashes with Palawa Joko's growing undead army on the Elonian borders. The Knights are quickly exhausting their resources and are constantly in need of more Knights. Pushing the undead out of their homeland is their first priority and requires most of their availible Knights, because of this the Knights are rarely seen helping their Luxon allies and feel that their cause is more important and just than participating in the pointless guild battles being staged accross the world.

A Place for Heroes

Finding a Home

After the Knights were reunited, the reborn guild faced many problems. For one the Knights were scattered accross Tyria without a home nation to build an outpost, and with no base of operations, communication was nearly impossible. Fortunately for the Knights, a ship bound for Cantha, carrying several of the guild's officers was forced to change course due to a short-lived corsair blockade and came accross a small island chain containing the ruins of an abandon Zaishen outpost. The officiers quickly returned to Tyria and gathered as many of the Knights as possible. With the Knights they had found the ship returned to the island to build their new home.

After repairing the ruins and building several structures of thier own, the Knights called thier new home New Arah. Many of the other missing Knights and Orrian refugees eventually found their way to New Arah and the guild became stronger than ever.

New Arah

New Arah Consists of two islands. The larger of the islands is New Arah, is build high above the sea and surrounded by a massive wall making the island secure from traveling guilds looking to pick a fight and is home of most of the Knights. The Smaller of the two islands is Heroes' Sanctuary, a fortress protecting access to New Arah via a large bridge extending to the city. Heroes' Sanctuary serves as the Knights' Guild Hall and as a place for combat training.

New Arah is mainly populated by the Knights and Orrian refugees, but the city accepts heroes of all races with open arms. Many Sunspears who aided in the fight against Abaddon have found sanctuary at New Arah, as well as many brave Tyrians and Canthans. There have even been reports of Norn and Charr within the cities walls.

Major Figures

Fox the Valliant

The new leader of the Knights is a mysterious Elementalist known simply as 'Fox.' As the legend goes, this Elementalist suffered his own tradgedy: a deal with the Gods. The Elementalist traded his life for that of the only woman he ever loved. The deal was made with his own blood, and as a price for retrieving a soul from the Underworld, the Gods demanded his mind and soul. The weary Elementalist was then relieved of his memories and identity and any evidence of his existance slowly faded from world. Then like puppet masters, the Gods placed the Elementalist in Cantha to construct his fate as the willed.

This story is not yet complete, and will be finished at a later time.

Wolf the Unyeilding

The First Officer is a rather cryptic warrior known to Fox simply as Wolf. One of an astoundingly sharp mind, and equally sharp blade. Wolf tends to speak little, know much and always have a hand in something, always deep into things much farther than many expect. Her words are never wasted and tend to mean much more than when taken at face value. Tolerance is important to her, and will often go to great lengths to get along with many and to reach an understanding, even the low and corrupt, but not sparing even a second for those of pure evil. She grew up in the Far Shiverpeaks not knowing her parents, only a single Norn who offered her protection until an older age, when she, taking after the Norn who raised her, simply packed up one day and left. Wolf tends to prefer the company of a pack of jet black wolves, for which she received her name, over that of other races. Wolf is a survivor, learning at an early age how to live in the wilds and some of the most extreme conditions Tyria has to offer. She discovered Fox in the Far Shiverpeaks, seeking shelter, frozen almost half to death, shortly after the searing. After Fox came to himself and warmed up, he told an epic tale of his time serving in the Luxon army and his world travels over the past two years. He told the story of his meeting with the spirit of Alexander Veldmar and the guild he was to form, a guild fit for only the strongest and bravest of souls. She then took up Fox on his offer to join the Knights of Arah. Everything after that is legend.

It was night now, her mind told her, but the sky was still lit with the fiery glow of sunset, it has been that way for three days now. Night, time to hunt. Retrieving her bow and taking stock of the few arrows remaining, she left the cave, bringing one of her companions with her. Not far away she stopped, something wasn't right. She drawing her sword, and rounded the bend. There it was, a small Charr warband, no less than 40. Easy prey, Charr fur is very warm, she thought, and my friends won't go hungry another day either. She replaced her sword and restrung her bow, whistling. In am moment, 11 other wolves showed up, all jet black and quite large. The group quietly rounded the cliff edge as she notched an arrow. As she let if fly, the wolves charge. before the first wolf made contact, 3 Charr lay dead, pierced through the heart. Sword drawn, she ran forward, 10 already lay dead, killed by her companions, and one more fell to the ground headless. She plunged her blade into the back of a second as the others finally realized they were under attack. So much for superior smell and senses. Less then a minute later, the band had broken and was scattering, the wolves giving chase, not letting the char get very far before being brought to the ground. Not fast enough, she thought. Only one Charr remained. It was a large one, standing head and shoulders over any others, obviously the leader. He drew two blades, each as big as a large child, and barked at her, "You have slain Charr for the last time mouse!" With this he charged her, but was pummeled by a meteor, and fell dead. Then she noticed the Elementalist for the first time, standing not to far off in extravagant, but worn robes obviously not warm enough for such an extreme climate. In seconds her companions encircled him, growling quite viciously. He stayed firm showing no fear. With a single gaze they backed down and sat a short ways off. "What is your name?" she asked. No replay came. "Your cold, help me skin these Charr and we will get to some place warmer," she said, tossing him a knife. One by one they skinned the bodies, and the wolves ate their fill from the ones they were finished with.

Back at the cave the Elementalist wasted no time getting a large and hot fire going, as she hung the Charr hides. After warming up, the Elementalist came to his senses and spoke. "40 Charr, that is no small feat, even for 20 well armed men, and you came out of it with only a few scratched companions. What is your name, and how do you come by such faithful companions?" there was a pause, then she spoke. "I do not know my proper name and neither have I known my parents. I have lived in the wild, with my friends here, for as long as I can remember. The Norn whom I lived with for a short time simply called me Wolf."

Kaze the Brave

...Once again the Elementalist found himself wandering through the ruins of Ascalon. He knew not what it was, but every year he would be drawn back to the seared lands by some unknown force of nature. He never pondered his reason for being there, nor did he ever have any purpose there either. He walked across the lifeless plains but something stood out; a single flower growing in the ashes. He knelt to observe the lone flower. He concluded that the flower was a sign, that he was ment to stop here, but before he could finish pondering the flower's existance he heard footsteps behind him. The Elementalist stood up. "Who are you?" he asked. There was no reply. He turned to face two bandits. "I have no gold," said the Elementalist. The bandits laughed and unsheathed their swords. "I am unarmed," said the Elementalist. The bandits prepared their battle stances. the first bandit began his charge, but as quickly as it had began it had been foiled; an arrow had pirced his heart. The other bandit, now frightened charged on impulse and found the same fate as his partner. The Elementalist turned around. There stood a man garbed in leather and fur; his finger still on his bow string. "My name is kaze," said the man, "I am but a mere hunter... I saw you were in danger." "What you have done today was a great deed," said the Elementalist, "you are no ordinary hunter, most men would have rather run and watched me die." There was a moment of silence. Kaze moved as if he was about to to speak, but the Elementalist began "It was no mere coincidence that we have crossed paths this day... Through Dwayna's eyes I peer into your soul, as if Lyssa herself were whispering to me your life... your dreams... Within you beats the heart of a hero, yet you have not yet found your inner strength. You are not doomed to walk this wasteland we call Ascalon, you are destined to ascend to greatness. Your journeys will take you far and wide, you will walk the Jade Seas of Cantha, you will fight the blights of Elona, you will step foot into the Mists." The Elementalist paused. "This will not be the last time we meet." The Elementalist turned around. "The road ahead of you is a difficult one ...Seek the ruins of Arah, there your destiney awaits... ... Kaze was it?" "Yes..." replied Kaze. "I shall never forget your name; one day all of Tyria shall know it." The Elementalist walked away and disappeared into the distance. This was the beginnnig of Kaze's tale...

As he stood back after letting the elementalist leave, he was suddenly reminicing about his childhood. Born the middle child of 7 childern to two poor farmers, his life was all but easy. Learning to hunt at an early age, he began to supply his family with food and clothing from what he sold, but was never congragulated by his parents or siblings. One year, during a festival, he saw a booth for a marksmanship contest that was to be held 3 days later. Asking about it, the contest holder told him that there was an entry cost of 500 gold. Not having the money he desided to hunt for his money. 3 days later he was in the contest. Little did he know that the prince of ascalon was there looking for warriors for the fight against the Charr. After a miraculous win with a perfect score, he reseived a battle commindation to the army per prince Rurik's request. At the age of 20 he enlisted to stop the charr thinking it was the perfect getaway from his parents, later he was chosen to be in an elite corp. in the ranger division, the 12 division rangers. The 12 division was made for those with supreme talent in marksmanship to become battlefield snipers. Completeing training one year later, he was off to war but was caught in the searing. Being the last of his regimen he became a wanderer. Nicknamed Kaze the Loner, he still searches the land for a purpose. Snaping out of it, he walks down to the body of the bandit to see what he had on him. Finding 20 gold and a bowstring, he looked up to see the moon in the sky. He calls for his pet, a Lion nicknamed "Fluffy" to come and they walk back to his cave. resting in his cave he thinks back on the words of the Elementalist. "The road ahead of you is a difficult one ...Seek the ruins of Arah, there your destiney awaits." The next day he set forth to the ruins to find the mysterious Elementalist.

Backstory

Chapter 1: The Elementalist

The room was dark. The room had no windows only a small lanteren in the corner of the room that flickered dimmly. The Elementalist's eyes were drawn to the dim flame. As he watched it, he felt that for a moment he could remember, but alas he could not. The door opened and a young woman entered. She sat down next to the Elementalist, but his eyes did not move from the dim flame. "Where am I...?" whispered the Elementalist, without moving his eyes from the flame. "Kaineng," replied the girl. The Elementalist broke his gaze with the flame and looked at the girl. "Kaineng?" he said. "Kaineng City," replied the girl, "its in Cantha." The Elementalist still looked puzzled. He was silent for a few moments, then he raised his right arm to inspect it. Along his forearm was a long scar, surrounded by some form of runinc symbols that were seared into his fleash.

Another figure walked into the room. The Elementalist sat up to better see this new intruder. He was tall with the build of a warrior; his face was wrinkled and his hair was grey. "So you're awake," said the figure in a booming voice. Despite the man's serious appearance, he said with a grin: "So, I've been wanting to know... what is your name boy?" The Elementalisted turned his head slightly and adoped the appearance of one who is in deep though. "Go on," said the man, "don't be shy, after all its our right to know after moving your seemingly-lifeless body off the Kaineng streets." The Elementalist moved his eyes toward the flame again. "I don't think I have one," he replied. The man opened his mouth as if he was about to speak but the girl spoke first. "How about Fox?" she said. "Huh?" said the Elementalist. "We used to call one of my friends that, but he died in battle..." "What battle?" asked the Elementalist...
