Formatting guideline

This page is an accepted formatting guideline on the Guild Wars Wiki.

It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that all contributors should follow. Before editing this page, it is suggested to gather consensus on the talk page first.

This article provides information about creating Bounty-Pages in this wiki. Bounties are special blessings which you can obtain on any resurrection shrine in Nightfall and that allow you to collect Sunspear Promotion Points and Lightbringer Promotion Points.
Please note that this is my first article of this sort ever in a wiki. I hope i follow all the guidelines and do everything correct. If i made a mistake of some kind please let me know and correct it.
Feel free to add any information you feel are important to this guideline.

General Guidelines[edit]

 • Always use the Bounty infobox since it makes sure all Bounty-related pages look the same
 • You should also use the detailbox to show in-game descriptions to make sure they look all the same and can be changed easily.
 • Read this guide carefully to make sure all bounty pages offer the same information
 • If you just know some information about a bounty that's fine. Just create a bounty page or add information to an existing one as far as possible
 • If you feel any information are missing in this guide please feel free to alter the guide!

The page layout[edit]

This sections first shows a complete example-page and then explains every section of the page step by step. So, let's see the example page:

<!-- NOTOC because no table of contents is needed -->
<!-- use the bounty-stub-template as long as information are missing -->
__NOTOC__bounty-stub

If you want you can add a general introduction to the bounty-page here,
but i think it won't be necessary in most cases.

Description
<!-- You don't need any additional/own text in this section. Just use the
detailbox-template here. For an explanation on how to use it have a look
at the template-page or below. -->
Normal mode
Hard mode
Locations
<!-- Since the infobox only provides you with the region where
this bounty can be obtained this is the section where you list
more detailed information. You take the regions from the infobox
and give the exact locations in that regions and the point of
the compass where the shrine with this bounty can be found. You
don't have to give the awarded points again. -->
* Region1
** Location1.1 | North-East
** Location1.2 | Center
* Region2
** Location2.1 | South

Notes
The infobox template[edit]

The Bounty infobox is quite simple to use. All of the parameters are explained on the template-page itself, so have a look there. There's also an example and I think it's not too hard to understand. The infobox should be used in the beginning of ANY bounty-related page. It provides general information about a bounty and categorizes the page automatically. Have a look at the template-page for an explanation of the template.

Description[edit]

This makes use of the Bounty detailbox-template. This template creates a box that shows the in-game description of a bounty. All parameters are explained on the template page. Please note that - unlike the infobox - you should not use any line breaks between the parameters here. The parameters are:

 • Does this bounty award you with sunspear or lightbringer points?
 • Are you describing the bounty for nm (normal mode) or hm (hard mode)?
 • How many points per enemy do you gain? Since this differs from region to region use the following format: 1..7
 • What enemies do you have to slay? This for example would be: Insect. Please use the singular term here.
 • Hardmode only: How many maximum points per boss do you gain with this bounty? Since this differs from region to region use the following format: 100..200

Please note that you should provide the information for normal AND hard mode using sections like in the above example.

Locations[edit]

The infobox shows the regions where this bounty can be obtained and this section is supposed to show all the locations in those regions and where in that region you can find this bounty. So for example:

Notes[edit]

Any additional information that you feel is important but doesn't fit anywhere else should be placed here.

Categorization[edit]

You actually don't have to worry about this since the infobox template categorizes the page just fine. You just need to add something here if you feel a category for this bounty is not provided by the template. But if you feel that way it probably would be better to add the category to the infobox template itself so that ALL bounty pages can benefit from the categorization.
