Formatting guideline

This page is an accepted formatting guideline on the Guild Wars Wiki.

It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that all contributors should follow. Before editing this page, it is suggested to gather consensus on the talk page first.

This formatting guide provides information on starting, expanding on and completing articles about titles.

General guidelines[edit]

  • Avoid listing unconfirmed titles and do not attempt to guess the requirements of title ranks.
  • Any titles that were shown to exist on test servers (either by this community or other fan sites) via screenshots may be listed here, but keep them separate from the confirmed titles, and clearly identify their source.
  • In general, the sections shown in the template should included in any title article. Omit them only if empty. Additional sections may be added as applicable, but add them above the "Notes" section.

Section explanations[edit]

In general, all sections (except the title track table) may be omitted if empty.

Infobox[edit]

Please see {{Title infobox}} for more details on its usage.

Description[edit]

A short paragraph detailing the meaning of this title, or a general explanation on how this title is earned will suffice. Leave the details to the "Acquisition" section.

Title track tables[edit]

Use the sample table in the "Template" section above to outline this title track's progression. Add or reduce rows as necessary. Additional columns are also possible, when applicable (such as Treasure Hunter). Don't omit the section header as shown in the template above. The table above will appear as follows:

Tier Title Requirements
1 Rank 1 Rank 1 requirement
2 Rank 2 Rank 2 requirement
3 Rank 3 Rank 3 requirement
4 Wearable Rank 4 Rank 4 requirement
5 Wearable Rank 5 Max rank requirement

The first rank of a title track that can be displayed or worn by a character should have the entire row made bold (rank 4 in the example above).

If the title track in question is campaign-based (i.e. the same one for each campaign), merge them together in one page and list them in one table, as they essentially the same. In such a case, remove the tier column. See Protector for an example.

If there is another title track that is totally dependant on the completion of this title track, then fold (and redirect) the dependant title track into this title track. Use a separate table (as above) for the dependant title track. Extend the introductory description to include the dependant title track. See Cartographer for an example.

Benefits[edit]

If a title grants certain in-game benefits, such as character boosts or additional emotes, detail them in this section. Obviously, this excludes the ability to simply wear them and excludes bragging rights.

Acquisition[edit]

Explain the acquisition of this title in detail, including the mechanics involved, gameplay tips, and notable observations or analysis regarding its acquisition. Detailed guides on how to acquire this title is possible, although if length becomes an issue, consider extracting the guide portion into a separate page, to keep this section's focus on acquisition mechanics rather than acquisition guides

Other sections[edit]

Additional sections may be added between "Acquisition" and "Notes" if there is content that do not fit into the other sections.

Notes[edit]

Any additional notes that needs to be mentioned regarding the title. Historical notes may be added here.

Trivia[edit]

Include any trivia regarding the titles in this section.
