Within the context of wikis, a editing bot is an automated software which is generally used to perform repetitive editing tasks. Since a bot is capable of making a huge number of changes in a short period of time, their changes are not shown on the default Recent Changes page. To see bot edits, activate "show bot edits" on the special page.
If a bot is making inaccurate or inappropriate edits, leave a message on its talk page to shut down the bot and read the bot's user page for additional instructions.

- If you have some free time I was wondering if you could set it up to replace a few thing in all of the maps.
- I'd like to have the outlined icons, which would be replacing every iteration of "File:Warrior-tango-icon-20.png|25px" with "File:Warrior-icon.png|30px" and so forth with all of the professions.
- Change all of the hide/show toggle placement to match the width of the map, so it'd need to replace the width in all of the category tables with the width in the "Image label begin" template.
- I was looking around for a mass-export/import tool so I could do it myself, but I didn't manage to find anything and I'm not skilled enough to first rip all of the maps off of the wiki (or put them back for that matter). Thanks in advance! ~Farlo
Talk 08:59, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
- Since I'm lazy, I was wondering if one of the bots could go through and delete all of the orphaned (unused) armor images currently flooding GWW:DEL, if it's possible for the bot to distinguish images. Kthnxbai! ~Farlo
Talk 05:26, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
- Done manually. poke | talk 17:54, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
- Request tagging all inactive guilds with inactive guild.
- Request moving all 'historical' out of the archive.
- In compliance with the updated guild page policy. Tagging guilds as 'inactive' can be done by users, but I feel it would be much better for everyone if a bot did it. --Riddle 23:28, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
- I'll try to get this prepared within the next few days. Sorry for the delay so far.. poke | talk 17:54, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
- I'm requesting that all skill infoboxes include the
| categorize = section. I'm currently working on the skills history project, and this would make it easier for myself (as well as other potential editors) because all of the main information would be readily available to copy from the main skill articles. Blue Clouded 01:30, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- Requesting all links to pvxwiki.com and pvx.wikia.com be changed to gwpvx.com, as well as guildwars.wikia.com (excluding fr.guildwars.wikia.com and nl.guildwars.wikia.com, but including en. and www.) and gw.gamewikis.org links be changed to guildwiki.org to reflect PvXWiki's and GuildWiki's respective moves. - Tanetris 22:59, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- I only found 69 links worth changing from each in total. Ones on user and guild pages and other user content isn't our problem, and the rest are just Help (there are some like FAQ ofcourse), elections/rfa, an abandoned namespace and discussions on several namespaces.
- So i don't think we must use a bot for this. - J.P.
Talk 12:15, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- I'm currently inclined to request a interwiki setup first (although I am not sure whom I should tell), and then replace those by interwiki links, making them more stable. poke | talk 15:54, 5 December 2010 (UTC)
- I disagree with the 'not our problem' attitude. 69 links (which my gut reaction says is lowballed, but not worth counting) would still be enough to justify a bot run on its own in this case imo (not strictly necessary, but justifiable), and for the others, not only does it cause no harm (unless it's on the userpage of someone who really supports Wikia, I suppose, in which case they're free to change it back), it saves time for those users who would otherwise change theirs on their own, and saves us RC entries.
- Regarding an interwiki link setup: I don't really see either of the other wikis moving again in the forseeable future, and even if they do at some point, it's entirely likely their new hosts would simply acquire the domain names from Curse, since Curse is, to be quite frank, not Wikia. Having interwiki prefixes to PvX and GuildWiki would be nice, and I think it's worth putting in a tech request about it, but considering our current limbo when it comes to wiki tech support, versus the fairly minor chances of the addresses changing again, I don't think it's worthwhile to put this request on hold for that long.
- Asidely, almost forgot the gamewikis address for GuildWiki. Edited that into the request. - Tanetris 14:13, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
- Obviously we are not going to change people's comments or their userspace to suit the tastes of anyone else. As for mainspace i don't think we should have links to guildwiki there in the first place; if content if missing on this wiki, we should add it. PvX is a different matter. While I would have prefered if people kept their silly fight off this site, that doesn't seem to be happening. As such a bot run would be prefrable. Backsword 13:49, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
- Request changing all links of NPC to non-player character (link-to-redirect to direct-link; NPC to NPC). There are 3000+ links to NPC, though my main concern is with the mainspace and category namespaces. --Riddle 19:37, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
- I have to object that request for the simple reason that using a redirect in article is not a bad thing, and it's actually more useful to have the code in a readable state than to link to the NPC page directly. poke | talk 17:04, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- Request adding armor icon to all armor icon images. Done some myself, but there's huge ammount of these. - J.P.
Talk 11:57, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- To be done this weekend. poke | talk 17:04, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
- replacing links to Lucky with links to Lucky and Unlucky. See the discussion at Talk:Lucky#Renaming_of_article. There is broad consensus for the move, but the page has a huge amount of incomming links, therefore bot assistance would be helpful for the move. --Xeeron 09:03, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- Given the rather complicated way the pages were linked to, I decided to do most link changes per hand. All mainspace articles were fixed correctly and there are no double redirects left. In fact, nearly only user pages link to a redirect, and I would object touching those just to change redirects. So it should be fine now. poke | talk 20:31, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry for you having to do it by hand, I thought it was easy to set up a bot, otherwise I would have done it myself. In any case, thx for taking care of this. --Xeeron 09:27, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

- Since I fixed Template:Item icon to work on my userspace (and all of wiki) - I know and noticed some items are listed with a picture that is not the same name.png (or .jpg). An example of this would be the runes: Rune of Minor Vigor, it breaks if I want to use the template here. Could a bot fix this for all or some of the items? Thx --
Karasu (talk) 19:12, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- Personally, I don't really see a need to do this. The rune names are like that to not have unnecessarily the same image multiple times on the wiki and it works quite fine in all current articles. Changing all rune articles now and duplicating the images multiple times is not really worth the result of simply being able to use a template. Instead you could utilize the standardized names of those images and create a rune icon template instead, if you really see a need for having a template to display the icons. poke | talk 17:46, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
- Instead of making a copy of one image for each rune would it be possible to create pages that redirect to the correct image? Like "File:Rune_of_Minor_Vigor.png" would go to "File:Rune_All_Minor.png". Not only for runes but also for salvage items (Dwarven Armor -> Salvage Heavy Armor) would this solve a lot of problems using the least resources. --
Karasu (talk) 03:08, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- Why don't you simply enhance your template to use the correct image? If you need help with that, I can aid you. But in general I would object adding redundant images or redirects just so a that a template, that is very rarely used, works. poke | talk 10:17, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
- Not only this template will come upon this problem, but i'm sure multiple projects benefit from this. And making a list of exceptions (each rune, each different type of salvage) would include hundreds of unique corrections. I'm not sure about the naming convention but if the correct File:ITEM NAME.png or .jpg (depends, png for items) shows the correct item without having to duplicate the images it would be useful. If you need a list of item names and what they should redirect to, i'd be happy to generate one for you. Anyway, it's not urgent and I'll look into that list on it's own time. --
Karasu (talk) 21:09, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- If you still want this implemented, please start a discussion elsewhere and try to get consensus. I won't decide alone on this topic. poke | talk 21:45, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
- Request adding a "Formatting Guide Compliance" section to all quest discussion pages. I may later ask that some status entries be added to that section based on the presence of some template or sections information on the main page, but I've been up all night and need some sleep before I specify the details for that. mtew 11:07, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- Please add the following templates to that section:
- if the Infobox template is used.
otherwise.
- if the Infobox template has a 'map' parameter and the image exists,
if the Infobox template has a 'map' parameter and the image does not exist, or if the Infobox template does not have a 'map' parameter.
- . If you can figure a way to detect the presence of an overview, add either a Y or X parameter value.
- if the 'Required' (or whatever it should be called) section is present,
otherwise.
- if the Objectives section exists,
otherwise.
- .
- if the Rewards section exists,
otherwise.
- .
- if the Walkthrough section exists,
otherwise.
- if the Associated NPCs section exists,
otherwise.
- if the Dialogue section exists,
otherwise.
- if the Notes section exists,
otherwise.
- if the Trivia section exists,
otherwise.
- .
- mtew 20:17, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- I would like to have some comments and consensus about that idea first; I would prefer to not add a template (with unclear parameter names btw) on so many pages to have it removed later because people decided to make it different. poke | talk 20:25, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
- This may surprise you, but none of the parameters are used by the template itself. Their names and use are defined by "Guideline item" templates in the Formatting Guidelines. In this particular case, the Guild Wars Wiki:Formatting/Quests page contains the parameter name specifications. Other reports will use different guidelines and different parameter names, but the "Guideline item" and "Guideline status" templates are very unlikely to change. There is a link to an example report on the guideline discussion page.
- Some of the codes have been in use for a long time in the quests project. Some are new. Each will probably require someone look at the corresponding quest page, judge the actual content and change the code value to reflect their judgement. That is, each template is a place holder in a sort of project 'to-do' list.
- While not strictly necessary, each template could be put in a separate list entry with a comment describing the condition matched. You might even have the bot 'sign' each entry since these are discussion pages. mtew 16:46, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- The link is actually on the project page. Directly, it is Pre-Searing Prophecies Report. mtew 23:24, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
- The meaning of the parameters values are documented on Template:Guideline status. mtew 14:37, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
- Request adding | rarity = 1 to the infobox for all Quest items. There are exceptions, but the exceptions are few and the articles many, so manually fixing them is a lot easier. Backsword 12:52, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, will set up the bot later; you can make a list with the exceptions if you like so I'll ignore them right away. poke | talk 16:07, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- If I only knew. Monumental Tapestry is one, but I'd think there is one or two more like that. Backsword 14:02, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- I request that all unique weapon pages be checked for "Unique" in the type parameter. Those pages which contain it should have it removed, as it is no longer necessary given new functionality of the template and causes the word "Unique" to be included twice in the same line of the infobox (i.e. "Unique Unique Bow", see Arachni's Longbow vs. Elswyth's Recurve Bow.) The template itself is currently a bit dysfunctional, but we plan to have it fixed soon and we'd like all the unique weapon pages to use it correctly when we do. An alternative is to code backwards compatibility into the template, but if we decide on that, I would have to do it, rather than a bot. xD --
Vorith (talk•contribs) 22:05, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
- Before I start preparing the bot, I would like to take look at the infobox first, I think we can save some effort by expanding the infobox' auto detection for the type. I'll take a look at it tomorrow. poke | talk 22:12, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
- I would like all the weapon dye chart images to be placed in Category:Weapon dye charts. I believe most of them are tied to dye chart if that helps. --

- Is it possible to teach Wikichu to add a redirect to guild pages when they are moved to a historical status so that the lingering links to the old guild name do not show up on the wanted pages? Elric 22:24, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- The Redirect from the Old Page to the Historical one has once been there and was very annoying and has been removed recently. One Reason was so that Historical Guild Pages which became active again could be easily moved back without needing a sysop for it. --SilentStorm
22:36, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Please excuse my ignorance but why? What makes it difficult to delete a redirect and then move a page without sysop attention? Elric 23:20, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Becoz only Sysops can Delete / Move over Redirect. --SilentStorm
23:21, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Can't users edit a page to remove the redirect and then copy/paste the contents of the now historical guild or even and just hit save? Elric 23:32, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
- Overly complicated. Also why do you want those stupid Redirects so badly? Just ignore the Redlinks for Guild Pages or correct the Links --SilentStorm
00:04, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Copy-pasting does not preserve page history, which is important for GFDL attribution. - Tanetris 00:08, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Okie dokie.. can wikichu fix those links? I looked at the first 500 wanted pages and more than half of them are Guild pages. I explored a few. Each page has dozens of links. It would take a human a lifetime to do it all. Elric 00:16, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you Tanetris, I didn't know it was a GFDL issue. That explains the sysop involvement. Silent... It's not the links in pages I am worried about. Its hundreds of pages filling up the Special:Wantedpages. These aren't going away and if I read right they will continue to stack up. Elric 00:21, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
