Guild Wars Wiki:Projects/Editing bots
From Guild Wars Wiki
This project is intended to allow users to request bot edits for highly repetitive editing tasks.
Within the context of wikis, a editing bot is an automated software which is generally used to perform repetitive editing tasks. Since a bot is capable of making a huge number of changes in a short period of time, their changes are not shown on the default Recent Changes page. To see bot edits, activate "show bot edits" on the special page.
If a bot is making inaccurate or inappropriate edits, leave a message on its talk page to shut down the bot and read the bot's user page for additional instructions.

[edit] Requests
[edit] One-time tasks
- I request making a gallery of skins for each weapon (similar to Gallery of Shields) if this is a bot task. GaaaaaH 09:03, 18 June 2008 (UTC)
- I request the contents of Category:Cape emblem icons be moved to Category:Cape emblems Thanks in advance! --

[edit] Periodic tasks
- Clean up Special:DoubleRedirects.
[edit] Old requests
[edit] Completed requests
- Unique-items (those articles under the Category:Unique items and all its sub-categories) need to be re-tagged from stub, item-stub or weapon-stub to unique-weapon-stub, as to point to the right formatting guideline. (Re-tag only, if no stub tag exists, there is no need to add it).--Fighterdoken 18:49, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- Pages of collectors tables needs cats. Specifically, pages of the name type [collectorname]/Collector should have <noinclude></noinclude> added to the bottom, while those named [collectorname]/Collector armor needs <noinclude></noinclude>. Don't know how practical this would be for current bots. Backsword 08:41, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- Change "species = Human" to "type = Human" wherever it appears in a call to Template:NPC infobox. At the moment, that happens in exactly these pages (for the Main namespace): --Rezyk 22:35, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- Moved the list to User:Wikichu/list.
- Ok, Rezyk :P I'll set up a bot ^^ poke | talk 22:44, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- Now that the NPC infobox supports it, I'd like to see certain changes done. Specifically, any creature left with
| species = Undeadchanged to| affiliation = Undead,| species = Charrchanged to| affiliation = Charrand| species = Destroyerchanged to| affiliation = Destroyers.
| type = Destroyer- All this assuming the Rezykbot haven't done them all yet. Backsword 04:57, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- As I understand it, Prophecies Charr have no family and belong to the Charr army / affiliation, while Eye of the North Charr belong to the Charr family / species and the Charr army / affiliation. -- Gordon Ecker 07:20, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Aye, but there is only like 6 or 7 that breaks the pattern, and we'd do them manually anyway. Backsword 05:30, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- Update:Rezyk did all the hundreds of undead manually, so forget that one. Backsword 09:11, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
- Is there still an action needed then? poke | talk 22:44, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
- Would still like the destroyers and charr done. Backsword 05:30, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- Setting up the bot.. poke | talk 17:02, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- Bot run finished, 164 pages edited; and then readded the type parameter for destroyers, 35 pages edited. But the Charr pages are missing a type now, is that intended? poke | talk 17:22, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- Yup. It's the most notable anomality with the system. Prp. Charr are typeless. Can be tested by bringing Pyre there. (Still think we should denote this somehow, but's that a debate for somewhere else.) Backsword 09:00, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

- Disambiguation fix - currently every armor collector subpage found here incorrectly has a link to AR for armor rating, but that is a disambiguation and the correct link should be to AR. This is about 100 edits and will correct about 200 links to disambiguation. --Lemming

[edit] Declined requests
- Lemming64 pointed out my signature icon uses the incorrect format for an icon and I've been using it since the website started. I need all pages using these icons to be changed to my correct icon so that I can delete the old incorrect ones. Incorrect icons: Image:User Vallen signature.jpg, Image:Image-User Vallen Frostweaver signature.jpg, Image:VallenIconwhitesmall.JPG Correct icon: Image:User Vallen Frostweaver signature.jpg. Let me know if you need anything more or if I can be of some assistance. Thank you. --

- Add Inactive guild to all guild articles requiring it (they must have received no edits in 6 months). --

- I don't think this is a great idea due to the fact that per Guild page policy we normally should have to check the ingame activity before we can tag the page.. Which is imo a bit stupid.. poke | talk 19:56, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah i would agree with that - how do you check ingame activity of a guild that lists a forum that needs you to register to view the forums? A guild leader that is rarely online due to work or perhaps you just happen to miss him/her? Generally there are around 10-15 guild articles 5 of which you cant be certain of and the rest qualify for it anyway. And if by mistake the guild does become tagged what happens then? 90% of the time there are no attempts to remove the tag within the month. Spending 5-10 minutes per page adding contacts to my friends list, pming them to see what guild they are in, see if they know the guilds status if they arent, registering on a forum then burrowing through threads, or rummaging through the website to see signs of life just takes far too long.
- This may sound harsh but i'm all in favour of just marking pages with the tag then be done with it - if they are active and are watching the page because they took the 5mins to register and set it up so they get the email in their inbox telling them its been edited for this reason then 'wooh' good on them - now they can change it accordingly --

- Maybe we should bring this up at GWW:GUILD then? poke | talk 21:44, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- If they care enough about their guild page, then they have enough time to remove the tag before it is deleted. — ク Eloc 貢 03:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
- Well I have brought this up at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Guild pages#Inactive Guilds as Poke suggested, feel free to contribute to the discussion --
