/Archive

I dunno how I did it, but I tried redirecting an archive but somehow the page name was just simply /Archive. And now when I try going back to add a delete tag to it, it just puts me on Archive. Is this a bug? It doesn't show up the Category:Candidates for deletion, but you can see what I sort of mean in the recent changes if you look there's a / at the beginning of Archive. — Eloc 00:46, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Normally a link to /page automatically refers to the subpage of the recent page named "page". So /page refers to Guild Wars Wiki:Reporting wiki bugs/page. If you accidentally created a page with a leading /, you can access the page by using the index.php?title=/page syntax. So for example this link refers to the page named /page (which is not possible to reach in normal syntax and by using the wiki-link system). poke | talk 13:02, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
I dunno, somehow I went to here by just clicking on a red link at {{Archive-box}}. — Eloc 17:06, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

User:Brains12/Image name

For some reason this page is showing up on Guild Wars Wiki:List of candidates for deletion, and the edit tab is incorrectly listing Template:Delete among the templates used in the page. I suspect that the deleted User:Brains12/Templates/Image naming and the delete template in its' last edit are somehow being partially transcluded into the page. -- Gordon Ecker 02:18, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

//wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=User:Brains12/Image_name&action=purge and it works ;) poke | talk 10:44, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
I tried purging Guild Wars Wiki:List of candidates for deletion, but didn't think of purging User:Brains12/Image name. -- Gordon Ecker 11:01, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
It was showing up in the list for me, so I did a null edit on it, and it went away, at least for me! - BeX iawtc 11:29, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
A null edit automatically purges the page. And actually the list never need to be purged as it's generated by DPL. poke | talk 14:31, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Template:Skill infobox

This template is currently malfunctioning. I'm not sure what's wrong, but it hasn't been edited in two days. -- Gordon Ecker 05:09, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

It shows up fine in Firefox, but displays incorrectly in Internet Explorer. I'm not sure about other browsers. -- Gordon Ecker 05:10, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
Any specific pages it's showing up wrong on? Looks fine in my IE (I checked Bloodsong). - BeX iawtc 07:19, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
Odd ... it's showing up fine now. -- Gordon Ecker 07:40, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Database Error

I got this a couple times. Mind shedding some light on what it is? The pay says it may be a bug in the wiki software. Image:Wiki_bug_Database_error.jpg. — Eloc 05:02, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Could you please explain what you did when you got the error? poke | talk 12:46, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Tried uploading a map. — Eloc 16:00, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
If this were actually a bug, it would be happening for multiple people. Have you cleared your cache and temp files etc.? It solves so much for no apparent reason :D. Ale_Jrb (talk) 16:03, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
It looks like it was just a timeout error because the database was busy. Not too much to worry about if it works on a second try a few seconds later. Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 16:17, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Ok, this was last night keep in mind. It was incredibly laggy for some reason, I'm not quite sure why. It looks literally 15mins to save pages that I was trying to edit. — Eloc 16:22, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

Bug

self:Image:Bug.jpg Eloc 06:34, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

I saw that too. I think it was just a temporary issue, rather than a bug though, as it was fine on a second attempt. Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 19:43, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
It didn't work on a second attempt for me...or 3rd...or even 4th. — Eloc 17:09, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
I guess you are right. In that case it doesn't work. Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 19:10, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Hi guys! I'm not sure if this is a wiki problem, or a problem with that particular template. I'll have to do some investigation, but in the meantime I'd pass it along to the template author or one of the resident template gurus like Poke or Biro and ask them what they think. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 19:36, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
This is probably because the page was vandalized and the content was very huge (WARNING: This page is 1,012 kilobytes long) I simply think the diff-method was not able to handle this :P poke | talk 11:40, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
If it can't handle it, it should report an error, not display a botched page. :p I guess it's a MediaWiki bug though, not a GWW one. Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 12:05, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
Biscuits: Linking to huge pages is baed.
If you, like me, just automatically clicked Biscuit's link because it was a link, I pity you for clicking mine. :P Armond 05:36, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm going to slide this into the resolved section, since there's nothing we can do to fix this issue. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 03:20, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Huh

My watchlist just cleared, now I have to rebuild. Bug? RT | Talk - A joyous wintersday to all 10:41, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps you clicked the Special:Watchlist/clear link from your watchlist by mistake? I guess it would be possible for a mischevious person to disguise one of those links too. Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 12:25, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
I didn't click it, and I don't think it was a mischevious person, but perhaps oyour right RT | Talk - A joyous wintersday to all 14:24, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Both Special:Watchlist/clear and http://wiki.guildwars.com/index.php?title=Special:Watchlist&action=clear requires me to confirm it. I also tried clearing my watchlist on GW2W which did not affect my watchlist here. -Smurf 20:56, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Template:Skill bar

This template normally works well, however in list of Factions henchmen, Professor Gai's skill bars aren't showing up properly. -- Gordon Ecker 10:51, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Testing in the sandbox implies that it's due to the large number of images, or due to the repeated transclusion of the same template. -- Gordon Ecker 11:07, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't see anything wrong on Professor Gai's page. — ク Eloc è²¢ 11:20, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
They show up fine there, the problem seems to be that list of Factions henchmen used too many templates and/or images. I've rearranged the page to eliminate duplicate skill bars, reducing the skill bar count, so it displays fine now, the old version is available here. -- Gordon Ecker 11:47, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
It looks like a MediaWiki feature to stop loop templates and overly loaded pages. Kind of the same thing happened when someone tried to create loops through template including. It stopped including and just linked after a set number of template calls. - anja talk 11:56, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
Ya, I was working on one of my templates and forgot to close a noinclude tag and when I tested it in my sanbox, it said in a hidden comment "template loop detected". Pretty neat, eh? — Eloc 02:53, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

"." is not a recommended image file format.

Every time I try to upload pictures, this comes up, and I know I didn't mis-type anything. I think it might be a bug, because it won't stop, even when I try to do a different picture. I wanted to take a screenie, but my computer doesn't do them. Oh, and the pics I'm trying to upload are jpg. So they should be in an okay image file format. Reiauna 20:23, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

Mind showing a screenshot of before clickin the upload file button and after clicking the upload file button? — Eloc 02:52, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

As I stated above, my computer can't take screenshots. Reiauna 16:44, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Click on this link and try to upload it from that. Image:User Reiauna image 1.jpg. There is nothing wrong with that name, so if it keeps coming up with an error message, it is probably a wiki bug. If it works, then it may have been user error. Also take note that if the image you want to upload is a different format (.JPG, .JPEG, .png etc), then you have to copy that extention exactly. -- Brains12 • Talk • 16:58, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
How can your computer not take screenshots? — Eloc 16:03, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
Reiauna, see Screenshot on how to take screenshots and where to find them. As for uploading, when you are at the upload page, do not remove the extension from the "Destination filename" field. An "extension" is the ".jpg", ".gif", and ".png" part of a filename. When creating a link for an image, do not omit typing in the extension. You cannot upload an image without an extension in the name. -- ab.er.rant sig 17:09, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Okay I got it working. Thank you all. All I was doing wrong was not adding jpg to the end of the file name...Reiauna 22:59, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

"Error creating thumbnail"

An image says more than a thousand words; Image:User Galil bug.jpg. That started happening in Zaishen Elite (outpost) when I uploaded a new version of Image:Zaishen Elite map icon.jpg. :S — Galil Talk page 17:19, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Re-uploading did not help, however uploading other images work just fine. :S — Galil Talk page 17:27, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
... Now the same thing happened with Image:Team Arenas map icon.jpg in Team Arenas (outpost). — Galil Talk page 17:30, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
We had the same problem yesterday with newly uploaded images, but that one solved itself after an hour or so (don't remember exactly). - anja talk 17:54, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
For what it's worth, it seems to be an ImageMagick issue. Though since it doesn't always happen, I can't really put my finger on the cause. The first thought that springs to mind would be full harddrive, so the upload can't create the files and that's why IM can't find them. However I suppose the wiki would warn about that.
Perhaps try "falling back" to GD? — Galil Talk page 18:07, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Purging caches on the articles helped in Zaishen Elite (outpost) and Gallery of female dervish Vabbian armor, but not in Team Arenas (outpost). :S — Galil Talk page 20:28, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
All articles/images seems to work fine now? - anja talk 13:40, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

no, still had same problem today after uploads. lussh 13:41, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

"" Error creating thumbnail: /home/httpd/gwwiki/home/gwwiki/en/bin/ulimit-tvf.sh: line 5: /usr/bin/convert: No such file or directory "" if that may help. The image usually appear after few edit / show preview / do nothing / accept / undo / edit and few refresh. lussh 13:44, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Image bug

Since yesterday i have a lot of images who don't want to appear, when i upload them for foes, like the blaspemy few minutes ago, everything is normal while uploading, but when i go on the blasphmey page, instead of the pic i can read this : "Error creating thumbnail: /home/httpd/gwwiki/home/gwwiki/en/bin/ulimit-tvf.sh: line 5: /usr/bin/convert: No such file or directory " After some edit doing nothing it usually come back to normal, showing pictures, but the last one, blasphemy took more time, and i don't know what make this happend.

( I also always have "edit conflict" when i try to write somewhere, even if there is no one else, here too. ) if someone can help i'd be glad lussh 17:58, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

See the section above... poke | talk 18:00, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, i just saw that i was not alone with that, in view of what is just above, hope the problem will be solve soon enough. lussh 18:01, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Hiya guys! I'm passing this issue along to IT this morning. I'll let you know what I hear back from them. Until then, thanks so much for your patience with the image craziness :p --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 20:39, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Hey there again everyone! I've received word that IT is currently looking into the issue, and they'd like me to find out if anyone is still experiencing this problem. If so, if you could please respond and copy the error you get into your reply, that would be really helpful as we track down the problem. Thanks bunches, guys, and sorry again for the inconvenience. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 23:54, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
There's one report just above this section, we'll see if we can provide some more. :) - anja talk 00:01, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Anja :) I looped them into all of this section's comments and the one above (so they took the above report into account). If there's any more reports, let me know! I'm scooting to a meeting now, but will be back to check on this page when it's over. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 00:06, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

For the images i updated today, everything was fine, as it seems over for me, i thank however repared the problem. lussh 13:32, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Lovely :) I'll pass that along to IT, and archive this. If it happens again, please let me know! --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 20:49, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Method not implemented

When attempting to edit a page results in an edit conflict, after merging in my edit and attempting to submit, I got the following error:

Method not implemented.
POST to /index.php

Not sure if this is a mediawiki bug, or just an error with the way conflicts are set up here. My guess is that most people just copy their text, and start a fresh edit rather than use the conflict interface anyway. Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 21:35, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

I get this every now and then when I get an edit conflict (The situation is just as you described). It happened alot more often earlier, but it's starting to happen again. - anja talk 21:44, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi guys...if you start to see this again, please let me know. It would also be super helpful if you could grab a screen of it for me so I can pass that along to IT along with the report. We've made a few important changes that should actually help out when the site's getting slammed with edit, so I am hoping that these recent tweaks fixed the problem you're both reporting. If not, again, please let me know so I can pass it along! --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 00:51, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi Emily. I tested this in my User:Biscuits/Sandbox by creating an edit conflict. It seems to work fine now. At least, I didn't get an error this time. :) Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 12:32, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
That's great :) I am going to archive this now, but if it happens again, please let me know! --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 02:01, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
This happened again. The screenshot isn't any more descriptive I'm afraid, but here it is. Image:Edit Conflict Bug.gif -- Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 10:22, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for the screen and the report! I'll pass this along to IT again for them to check out :) --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 19:17, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
I keep getting HTTP 501 Not implemented in Internet Exployer 6 when I try to delete Template:Wikinoob. -- Gordon Ecker 08:25, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
I just wanted to update you guys on this. I've passed this along to IT, and they are going to do some research into it. They'll be looking into some server logs to see if they can track down what's going on, and they'll let me know what they find. Which, of course, I'll pass to you when I get the information :) Thanks for your patience! --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 03:19, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Just wanted to note that I successfully performed this edit via the conflict interface. This seems to be a somewhat elusive bug... Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 10:26, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

This still happens to me. — Eloc 22:05, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
IT has looked into this issue again...can you guys let me know if it is still happening? Thanks! --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 20:47, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
I've had a few edit conflicts lately, with no problems. Hopefully it is fixed now. :) Biscuits User Biscuits sig.png 13:03, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Template:Skill icon

This template is currently malfunctioning on some pages, such as Fury Titan, it works fine on other pages. -- Gordon Ecker 09:38, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

How is it malfunctioning? The icons seems to be showing up normally for me. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 09:43, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
It's showing up fine for me now. I suspect it was a problem with the cache. -- Gordon Ecker 02:46, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I've found some templates to act funny at times as well. The {{Skill progression}} template sometimes end up displaying vertically for me. :S — Galil Talk page 02:53, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Yep, same here. I have to refresh the page once or twice to get the skill progression to go horizontal. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 03:39, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm going to archive this since it seems to be a case-by-case caching issue. If you guys start to notice it regularly, let me know. --UserEmilyDiehlStar.gif Emily Diehl (talk) 18:44, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
