Welcome! We're glad to have you here with us as we work together to develop this great resource, and all of us here at the Wiki hope that you will enjoy helping out here as much as we do! You may feel a little overwhelmed by the size and complexity of this project, but don't worry - it will become easier and clearer as you go along. If you need any help, feel free to ask any of the more experienced contributors to show you the ropes. We've added some basic links to help you get started:

  • Any experimental edits can be tested at the Sandbox.
  • Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date - it's always nice to know who you're talking with!
  • Your User page is a great way to express yourself and allow other users to get to know you a little better - see the user page guidelines for instructions to help you get started.
  • A list of basic commands and instructions on how to use them can be found in the Editing Help Section.
  • One of the best places to get started is Guild Wars Wiki:How to help.

In case you get stuck, the following people have volunteered to assist new contributors, to give a helping hand and help you learn the ropes:

Even more volunteers are standing by to answer your questions on the following pages. You can usually expect an answer fairly quickly, sometimes even within just a few minutes:

Finding your way around

Unlike most Wiki projects, Guild Wars Wiki has three kinds of pages: information pages that are part of the game documentation, community pages that are part of the building and operation of the wiki itself, and feedback pages that are where you can offer ArenaNet your feedback and suggestions about the game.

To find your way around the game documentation, simply enter a term into the search box on the left side of the screen.

The wiki's community pages include instructions, help pages, policies, guidelines, discussion forums, places to make requests, pages to report problems, and user pages. These are all pages which we use to develop the game documentation and to communicate with each other in that mission. Some directories to help you find your way around the community are:

  • The Community Portal lists some of the currently "hot" topics and discussions you can get involved in.
  • The Projects page lists some of the focused efforts to improve a specific part of the wiki. If you're looking for something to work on, this is a great place to look!
  • The Wanted Pages section lists all of the pages that have been linked to, but still have no content. Simply click on a red link and wiki away!
  • If you find any sort of bug with the wiki itself, please report it!

If you wish to provide feedback to ArenaNet in the form of bug reports, or game suggestions, head to the Feedback portal. Make sure you read the rules!

If you have suggestions for the wiki or specific articles, you can either post your suggestion on the associated talk page, or head to the Community portal talk page.
