Guild Wars Wiki talk:Discussion

Note: think long term (10 year project). We are still small enough that RC patrolling is enough, but soon we might not be. S 08:11, 9 February 2007 (PST)

I think this kind of page makes sense. There was discussion on the main page about having a similar article for large projects, as on the GuildWiki these were often lost among announcements on the community portal. LordBiro 13:27, 9 February 2007 (PST)
Unfortunately, this kind of thing has to be maintained to be useful. More precisely, this kind of thing has to be used to be useful (good old Metcalfe's Law). S 13:39, 9 February 2007 (PST)

Our version of The Wikipedia Signpost, if we ever get big enough that RC patrolling is not enough. Again, this is addressing the long term, once this wiki is ten times its present size. S 12:52, 14 February 2007 (PST)

Necessary?[edit]

Isn't this page redundant with the community portal? By which I mean, shouldn't the contents of this page be over there? Ray McCooney 03:26, 27 February 2007 (EST)

Well, I would like to think of this page as the "wiki updates" page on policies, formatting, wiki-wide, and important discussions or issues. The community portal should be used for documenting long-term and current wiki projects, sort of like a To-Do list that ppl can browse and take on. -- ab.er.rant sig 05:05, 27 February 2007 (EST)
But no thought has been put into it. As an outsider to the discussions I don't get any information from all the blurbs. The blurbs aren't even kept up to date. This is not a good way to implement a village pump. The community portal talk page worked fine on GuildWiki and I am pretty sure this wiki will not be challenging that one size-wise for a while. I like the idea of a 'hot topics page'. It hasn't been working perfectly yet, but neither is anything else in this wiki so don't deem it yet. I would suggest waiting for the wiki to start up. -- Gem (gem / talk) 08:18, 27 February 2007 (EST)
