Getting the ball rolling...[edit]

What, if anything, do you think has changed since the last election? User Defiant Elements Sig Image.JPG *Defiant Elements* +talk 22:12, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Difficult to say, truthfully. It has only been....3 months, I believe, since the last bureaucrat election. However, all good things come with time, in my opinion. I think the break between elections has narrowed my bureaucratic goals. I realized last election I had no real set standards on what I would do should I somehow win. This time around, I think I know what is to be expected from a seat such as this. --User Wandering Traveler Oie User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 22:17, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
And what, pray tell, would that be? User Defiant Elements Sig Image.JPG *Defiant Elements* +talk 22:18, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
First and foremost, Maturity. Its quite easy to get sidetracked on a job. I've noticed in my past contributions that while not on a specific "job" perse, I've been quite....ugh, between easygoing and rowdy, to put it bluntly. However, given a project, a job to take unto, I will take the job with great responsibilty. While there is little to back this statement but my own word, I'd like to point back to the project of PvP weapon creations. Working on this wiki is no easy task. Everyone knows this. I like being very easygoing, almost to the point of rowdy, but given a serious job or project, such as an arbitration case, I will drop all forms of silly bantering and completely focus on the job at hand.
Being a terrible speaker (even on a keyboard), that is my answer. My goal is maturity. --User Wandering Traveler Oie User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 22:24, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Letting your recent contributions speak for themselves:[edit]

So I looked back over your contributions to aroooouund September 15th, I'm seeing a lot of user space contributions, mainly user talk, some tagging and some reversions. What exactly do you want your recent contributions to say? Misery 22:38, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Hello Misery. I'm somewhat glad someone asked that, even though answering it is rather....difficult, to say the least. A major problem during past bureaucrat elections and my unsuccessfull RFA was my attitude toward some situations, namely veteran trolls. While its a rather slim piece, I'm hoping my recent contributions can show that I'm able to handle such a situation better then I have before. Its one of the most important things to consider as a bureaucrat, in my opinion, and thats what I want to stand out the most. --User Wandering Traveler Oie User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 03:42, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
I got your back. He's good for the job. I've never seen him(Please! Correct if I'm wrong!) getting one sided, using profanity or been approve of profanity unlike a recent a bureaucrat that stated that saying shut the fuck up, was reasonable and it was common sense even though Arena Net encourages the bureaucrats to avoid any kind of profanity(example too long?).--ShadowFog 13:28, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Arena Net encourages bureaucrats to avoid profanity? ...wat? -Auron 13:41, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Going to have to ask for a link for that. Personally I don't give a fucking toss if bcrats swear their fucking heads off. It's about being effective at the job. While you are at it another link where why what arenanet thinks should affect my decision at all would be useful. Misery 13:48, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Please stay on topic (WT's qualifications), not on his relative qualifications plzkthx. --JonTheMon 13:51, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Does that include imaginary qualifications? Since that seems to be the trend in this particular thread. Especially when it comes to ANet's take on it. -Auron 13:52, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
In reference you your answer WT, could you provide some links to some diffs of you dealing with veteran trolls recently? Misery 13:54, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Uh, Shadowfog, I don't believe Anet itself encourages this, although it would keep someone in good standing with the community if they refrained from such things.
As for examples, Misery, they are few and far between. I've been trying to avoid what I can, interjecting only when neccesary, and even then my posts are usually consisting of one warning, and just one at that. The only one off the top of my head is here. Again, its a minute and probably terrible example, but I'm more focused on friendly warnings then actually getting involved in the actual discussion. --User Wandering Traveler Oie User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 15:52, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Ahuh... and how exactly would being a bureaucrat enable you to do that better? I'm just a little confused as to what exactly you want to do with the position. You talk about maturity, which sure, can help, but at the moment your campaign sounds almost like a campaign for student president or something, a job where you don't actually have to do anything which is more or less just a popularity contest for prestiege. Why do you even want to be a bureaucrat? Misery 15:55, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
I would have thought the goal was universal...being able to arbitrate cases. Thats why I'm running, as probably most others are. I don't see this as a way to increase popularity, I see it as a job that I could excel at. --User Wandering Traveler Oie User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 03:57, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Interesting. I ran to get deleted page viewing abilities. Nice to know some people out there aim to serve :) -Auron 13:06, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Would you care to elaborate on how Real Life™ political leanings affect ability as a bureacrat? ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 18:20, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Questions[edit]

  1. Why do you want to be a bureaucrat?
  2. Do you feel that you could be used to your full potential as a bureaucrat?
  3. What makes you unique or different from the other candidates?
  4. Can you explain to me how you would handle an ArbCom involving a "major" troll?
--Shadowphoenix Happy Halloween 01:28, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Hello Shadow. I'll respond to these as best as I can.
  1. Why do I want to be a Bureaucrat? As explained above, it is not for popularity, fame, and the sake of viewing deleted pages (Sorry Auron :P). I want to be a bureaucrat to experience something new, to arbitrate cases, and to be a better help to the wiki.
  2. I think I can use my full potetntial as a bureaucrat. I'm a very minor namespace editor (as my contribs can tell you), but I do well in analytical debates. To me, thats what an arbitration case is.
  3. What makes me different? Not much of anything, as far as I know. We all run for bureaucrat, don't we? I don't see much difference when we all seek the same goal.
  4. My last few interactions with so called "Veteran Trolls" have been, as you can imagine, harsh. As a bureaucrat, however, I think that I can take a bit more indirect approach to the subject matter. My problem with past encounters was that I had a "in your face" attitude. In other words, I took on the action a bit too directly. This is bad when you don't have the bite to match your bark, to put it that way. As a bureaucrat, I would still avoid the "in your face" attitude. To me, being a judge of an arbitration is to judge what is said, not to judge what is said just to you. Analyzation of past thoughts and events of said defendant would keep me away from provokation.

I hope these were answered to your standards. If there is anything else, please post it here. --User Wandering Traveler Oie User Wandering Traveler Sig2.png Wandering Traveler 02:11, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
