Separate images from articles?[edit]

How about separating the images to be deleted from the articles to be deleted? Not really necessary, but perhaps a bit more clear. -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 23:51, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

I don't think that helps even a bit. Pages that appear here are tagged for deletion, regardless of its page type or namespace. And there is no difference between articles pending deletion and images pending deletion. poke | talk 09:22, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Slackers![edit]

C'mon sysops, you're slacking! :D — Galil Talk page 04:00, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

And again! That inactive guild list isnt gonna get back under 500 guilds at this rate! xD --The Great Tomato The Great Tomato 11:17, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Let's get cracking! --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ Talk 12:43, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Geez, sysops ARE becoming lazy... that didn't happen in the time I was one. :-) -- CoRrRan (CoRrRan / talk) 00:27, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
It's not the sysops being lazy, it's everyone else not uploading images correctly! :P (and some people going on a tag frenzy) --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ Talk 00:29, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Mostly I'd blame the tag frenzy. :P — Galil Talk page 12:42, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
lol, lazy again? Dominator Matrix 01:33, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
What about simply leaving that kind of work to the admins. There are many admins working on the deletions, and looking for pending deletions more than once a day. And when you might try a look at the deletion policy, you'll notice, that candidates are not deleted immediately! poke | talk 14:31, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Odd bug[edit]

At the moment there seems to be something weird happening with the Candidates for speedy deletion list, it includes the page ArenaNet:Guild Wars 2 suggestions/YO ITS ROSS UMM..I CANT FIND MOST MY IDEAS SO M &^&%&*$&$^)&^(&^&* NOW I CAN even though it apparently had never existed as there isn't any history for the page. The link is red in the list and it might just be happening to me but neither clearing the cache nor purge did anything. --Kakarot Talk 21:53, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

DPL can't understand everything ;) In such cases, just go manually to the category (clicking the link) and delete the page from there. It is most probably because of some characters that DPL tries to interpret in some way. (In this case some "+" characters). poke | talk 21:58, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
I figured it had something to do with the symbols in the name but I don't remember there being a delete tab when I went to it? --Kakarot Talk 22:01, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
There wasn't. Since DPL couldn't read it properly, it linked to the wrong page, a page with it's name truncated from the real name. As that version never existed, it would have the options of a page that never existed. Going to the real page, poke could delte it normally. Backsword 22:31, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

ArenaNet namespaces[edit]

As I noticed that some sysops (including me) sometimes do not want to be involved with deleting suggestion pages or skill balance issues, what would you think about extracting the ArenaNet namespaces candidates into a seperate list? poke | talk 12:48, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

I too don't like being involved in the ArenaNet namespace, but having a separate list seems to me a bit unnecessary. -- User indochine dsk tree.png Indochine talk 21:58, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
The same seems to be true for the Guild: namespace. Backsword 15:03, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
No Backsword. poke | talk 16:22, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
It's not that we don't want to delete them, but it's because some of them are being contested. As such I tend to wait it out and see if that contested delete gets discussed further. If after days or even weeks of there not being any progress to the discussion, or if someone else did not delete it first, I will just go in and review it myself - which either results in a reword, merge, or delete from me. -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 02:00, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
I went through all the ArenaNet pages that were tagged for deletion and many of them didn't even have talk pages, let alone discussions contesting the deletions. Whether I am correct or not, I deleted them all (including associated talk pages). We are asking the community to treat them collaboratively, and if someone sees a reasonable reason for them to be deleted and no one cares enough to contest it, I feel we should honor that and delete them per the deletion policy (which clearly defines the time frame for deletions). Leaving them there tagged for weeks seems counter productive. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 16:48, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
It's not really counter-productive. It's just mildly annoying :) Leaving them there only affects those who actually look at this page :) -- ab.er.rant User Ab.er.rant Sig.png 08:40, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

I1 weapon/NPC images and the Gallery pages[edit]

I had a couple of unexpected hours off today and I noticed we have quite a massive backlog of images that need to be deleted. However, when I was setting up to do some deleting, I realized something. When I delete, say, File:Scimitar.jpg, Gallery of swords is going to lose the image associated with the Scimitar due to the way the dpl has been set up. See for instance its entry for Istani Scimitar, which was deleted a long time ago. Now I know next to nothing about dpls, so how do we fix this? Do we alter the dpl code? Do we manually redirect deleted images to their new counterparts, like what has been done to File:Falchion.jpg? Input please, so I can do all the boring work without fucking up our gallery pages. WhyUser talk:Why 16:26, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

I'm done, you guys handle the more complex pages. People, remember to change links if something is truly deletion-worthy! WhyUser talk:Why 19:38, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
