The first art contest offered by ArenaNet took place in 2005, with the introduction of the annual Halloween Art Contest series. Many hundreds of entries were received, from five continents and nearly three dozen countries.
Twelve winners were chosen by the Guild Wars team. Winners came from Canada, Malasia, Singapore, Germany, and the USA. Eleven Honorable Mentions were selected. Those so recognized came from Argentina, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, The Netherlands, and the USA.
