Unable to get into game.[edit]

I have not played the games in some months now unable to get back on . Can not remeber my password and after aswering the questions will not let me back on. What do I need to do now? Thank you Cody Kemp

late answer, sorry about that. but if you clicked "reset password" and answered the questions correctly, then you should've been sent a new password. if you're sure those answers were right, contact the support, because we can't do anthing, then. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 12:15, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

unique items[edit]

whats the chance of geting a unique green item from a boss(how many times do i have to kill him)?

I think this depends on the boss. Some greens are very easy to aquire while others take a lot of time. -- Gem (gem / talk) 10:05, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Actually, what he means is that the possibility of getting a green is really low. Some bosses could have a chance of dropping and be maybe 1% chance, but an easy drop that he was saying is more around a 5-6% drop. It also depends on how many you have in a party. The less you have in a party the higher the chance. Also the drop rate increases if you have a player with you rather than a hero. All the same, less people, better chance of drop. Even soloing chance of green is still pretty down there. I do not know exact percentages. --Lustre 22:36, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Continous Kicking out[edit]

Why does my Guild of wars keep kicking me out, and saying connection lost, and i have to re-connect, sometimes i have to try a few times????

It's done it to me a few times, and it's my first day with the game!!!

Darren

This is probably a connection problem. You should contact your internet service provider as the problem is most likely their fault. -- Gem (gem / talk) 15:44, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Running Guildwars on Macintosh[edit]

Is there any known bugs or crashes for running Guildwars on a Macintosh machine that has installed Windows XP? To be precise, the machine used Intel CPU and has ATI graphic card and 2 GB of RAMS --58.136.93.22 01:19, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

I think when Eye of the North was released there were some graphics issues, but there was a release that fixed a lot of the issues for a lot of chipsets. As to whether or not the Apple + Guild Wars experience is 100%, I'm not sure, but iirc, its doable. -elviondale (tahlk) 03:33, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

gaining levels[edit]

When gaining levels, does the amount of HP and Energy points go up depend on what your primary class is? What about secondary class? Is it a mix of both? If i have fighter/mes will i have more life per level than a mes/fighter? I heard your primary class is what your stats is mostly based off of and the secondary class only gives you the skills of the second class and not much other bonus. Is this true?

Hit points and energy per profession are identical, however the armor unique to that profession offers certain bonuses for different professions. Some have a little extra health, some have extra energy, some have extra energy regeneration, and some have extra armor. -elviondale (tahlk) 03:30, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
the standard amount of health and energy that every lvl 20 character without armor has is 480hp and 20 energy with two pips of energy regeneration. primary casters usually get extra energy with their armor, raising their standard maximum energy to 30 with four pips of regen. on level 0 (or 2) you will start out with less health. this raises with levelups. your energy will be the typical one for your primary. see the links above for more detail. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 14:00, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

choosing secondary class quick?[edit]

If having a secondary class gives you bonus stats per level, then shouldn't you choose a secondary class before you reach lev 2 to optimize stats? Or does it not matter?

No, it does not matter. You can even switch secondaries on the fly in outposts and towns once you earn or buy the right to use those professions as secondaries. The secondary profession doesn't offer anything except for skills and attribute points to make those skills more powerful. Armor, inherent stats, and behavior aren't affected by secondary professions. -elviondale (tahlk) 03:32, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

How do I access GWEN content?[edit]

Hey. I recently (about an hour ago) bought GW:EN and looked around for information on how to actually use it...Well, I cant find anything. I've never really used GWW, so maybe I'm just ignorant, but I'd just like some help. Really, I'm interested in the Hall of Monuments, which I hear is in the Eye of the North. I saw where that was on your handy-dandy map, but I have no clue how to actually get there :) Anyway, I'd be much obliged if you could help me with this dilemma. --Theo65.11.69.99 04:04, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Viewing past cinematics[edit]

Is it possible to view certain cinematics of the primary campaign which have been skipped in the past? How is this done?--196.11.241.45 16:19, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

to repeat cinematics from missions, do the mission again. cinematics from primary quests can't be repeated afaik. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 16:51, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
For Factions and Nightfall there are NPCs in the mission outposts that will brief you on the mission replay the cinematic for the primary quest that led up to the mission. They aren't clearly tagged as anything, but if you see a random, named NPC without any apparent purpose, they're the one. And Eye of the North has the Scrying Pool, of course. --Valshia 17:19, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Finding Human Players[edit]

Is there a quick way of finding a specific human player in an outpost, after for eg. chatting with him/her?

you can insert the name into the "add" panel in your party window. then click the name (doesn't even have to accept the invitation). now you have him as your target, if he's in radar range. press space to move to him. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 16:50, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

How to track down a Guild leader[edit]

I Am trying to find a guild called "Full Contact War". This Guild was started some time ago by a friend as part of a larger community. But he has since left. So time has past by and I have ask him if he was still the leader for the Guild and he tells me he is not. And he does not know who the new/now leader is. Is there any list on the net of every guild that is active in the game? I Have tried to make a new guild with the same name but the game tells me the name is in use. So I am guessing the guild is still live. So, Does anybody know of a way to track down the guild leader of "Full Contact War"

--81.103.51.242 01:16, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

There isn't much you can do. The wiki doesn't seem to have a guild article for that guild and there is no online source with guilds and guild leaders. -- Gem (gem / talk) 10:49, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

prieval armor[edit]

i hv just bought nightfall and could any1 tell me where i can find it? and how far is the armor from the begining point? if both questions r answeared thx.

See Primeval armor. The crafter for the armor is located in an area which you get to after completing the final mission of the game. After leaving the area you only get back there buy doing the mission again. -- Gem (gem / talk) 00:01, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
There are others armors as well, such as Ancient armor, Vabbian armor and Elite Sunspear armor. -elviondale (tahlk) 01:20, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

GWEN dungeon prize[edit]

I've found that winning a dungeon, not all the human members of the party have the quest accomplished and can retrieve the prize. Is It a bug or what? 8 ppl have to win the dungeon 8 times?? IMHO it's a annoying event.

If you have the quest active, you get the reward. If you dont, you do not get a reward. Whether the others have the quest active does not matter. --Xeeron 14:42, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

PvE drop rates and Solo Quests[edit]

What determines the drops and drop rates for parties in PvE? I've only been playing this game for about 15 or 16 mths and still I am unable to get any quantities of gold. I play PvE only and am constantly helping guild and alliance members with quests and missions in all 3 games and GW:EN. In doing this there seems to be less drops and less gold. Also why are there no incentives for players to help one another? (Is the goal af the game to make it a hero and henchie single player game?)For example, if I help another player complete quests or missions why dont I at least get some extra gold or a rare drop for helping? I'm not greedy but it is very frustrating to spend time doing quests and missions and completing the title goals if you cant even afford to buy skills elite armors or keys for all your characters. I play these games because it gives my friends and I a chance to play together. We dont play PvP. Plenty of other games to play for that. Also why all the single player quests? Our Guild and Alliance like playing together. We dont like all the solo and PvP stuff.

Greyhawk of Tyria 14:44, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

lol, first off: guild wars is mainly a pvp game. as for the drops, usually they depend on how many monsters are killed in that area afaik. so e.g. minotaurs will have less drops because everyone keeps farming them. i don't know much abot that, either. why all the single players quests? you could tell anet about yout ideas for multiplayer minigames. maybe we will see one or two of them in gw2. those solo quests are only mini games in gw:en. everything else is party. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 14:48, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Lol, mainly PvP? -- Gordon Ecker 01:40, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
Lol nothing. These are the lamest replies I've seen to a question yet. 'Oh, dude. You like GW for the PvE aspects, well sorry LOL what a loser you are ... don't you know, GW is mainly a PvP game.' What a lame answer. One of the best things about GW is the versatility of the game system, the different worlds and the depth of the quests. So for all of the people out there that completely ignore PvP and focus on PvE, you think these people are silly, LOL? Wrong, PvE is just as rewarding and a viable game for many many people. Your views are limited and your responce here less than valuable. To Greyhawk of Tyria, I wish I knew the answer to your question myself, maybe someone else more informed will answer. --Aeguilar Y Puma 04:52, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
Guild Wars is among the most heavily PvP-oriented major MMORPGs, but that does not make it primarily PvP. Official statements on the PvE vs PvP debate have consistantly indicated that Guild Wars is not meant to be primarily focus on either PvE OR PvP. Hard Mode, Eye of the North and the absence of Priests of Balthazar at release provide more than enough evidence to refute claims that Guild Wars is primarily a PvP game, and the largely PvP-related skill balance changes provide more than enough evidence to refute claims that Guild Wars is primarily a PvE game. I apologize for my previous rude comment, I don't like it when people bash or belittle one side of the game or its' players, especially when they make bogus claims. -- Gordon Ecker 06:01, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
The drop rate was recently changed as an answer to farming and botting I believe. I don't know how effective it was in countering those stuff, but it does seem that drops these days are a bit less frequent than before. I think it's a good idea to reward players at least a little for helping others go through the same mission, but sending that thought directly to Anet's support or a fan forum is a better idea, because we're mostly dealing with gameplay issues on this page.
As for not having enough money... first question is how much of the campaigns have you completed? I've played for about 18 months (and I don't really do anything other missions and quests, no farming, trading, no runs, etc.) and I can confidently say that you can afford 15k armor by completing most of just one campaign. As for keys, well, my advice is that you don't buy keys ;) at least not so often. Keys, especially lockpicks have a habit of cutting down my gold reserves :D since I don't bother with WTS at all. -- ab.er.rant sig 06:37, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

RE:PvE drop rates and Solo Quests[edit]

Guild Wars takes the best elements of today's massively multiplayer online games and combines them with a new mission-based design that eliminates some of the more tedious aspects of those games. You can meet new friends in towns or outposts, form a party, and then go tackle a quest together. Your party always has its own unique copy of the quest map, so camping, kill-stealing, and long lines to complete quests are all things of the past. Within a Guild Wars quest you have unprecedented freedom and power to manipulate the world around you; with the dynamic quest system, your accomplishments have a unique influence on your future.

LOL,I am just asking these questions because as a Guild leader I would like to be able to give actual informed info to members and alliance members who are constantly asking about the topics I asked.

The above is from the Guild Wars site under game synopsis. As a rep for game support does your comment mean I and all 250 of our Alliance bought the games under misrepresented sales tactics? We all thought it was PvE or PvP.

Also is there actually anyway to calculate drop rates for our parties? And how does the game decide who gets the blue purple or gold drops or even no drops?

Thanks for your help.--Greyhawk of Tyria 15:24, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

If you're out in a party with 8 live players, you'll notice that almost everything you kill drops either gold or an item. Technically, they do this even when you have 7 henchies along, but in that case, 7/8 of the drops are going to henchies and you never see them. Rarity of drops is pretty random, and while everyone will have lucky & unlucky days, over time things will be pretty even from person to person. Don't worry about the pve vs pvp thing... everyone has preferences, I've played maybe 30 hrs of pvp in about 3500 total. The key to getting rich: pick up everything that drops for you. ID it, merch it, go back out again.--Fourth Horseman 15:37, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. That will help a lot when this topic comes up again in our parties. And thanks for the great games. Greyhawk of Tyria 15:51, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

a problem with joining guilds[edit]

I left my guild and tried to join a new one, but when I clicked accept, the guild menu went wrong. First off I saw the guild roster for a second, then the guild and guest invites screen. I asked the leader about it, and she said that I was still on the list of invitees, so I relogged and restarted GW, but then the menu was just blank. —Ebany Salmonderiel 17:10, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

i'd like to see a screenshot... well, for now i think the only thing you can do is wait until it's fixed. that's likely a server bug that will fix itself after some time. happened to many people that they suddenly had no guild anymore and one day later everything was back to normal. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 17:19, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

nightfall story[edit]

i have some questions about nightfall story. i know long ago turai ossa and palawa joko were battling. iknow varesh ossa is summoning abbadon now. i know turai ossa won against palawa. but why did they battle? are turai ossa and varesh ossa related? can you write me ashort version of a nightfall story please. ty very much

To answer your questions briefly, the battle between Turai Ossa and Palawa Joko was a little over 200 years before Nightfall. Why they battled? Palawa Joko had conquered Vabbi and was trying to do the same to Kourma, and Turai Ossa didn't want him to. Varesh is the great-great-(not sure how many greats)-granddaughter of Turai Ossa. Some links for your reading pleasure: Timeline, Turai Ossa, Palawa Joko, History of Elona, Storyline of Nightfall, Category:Lore. Hope that helps. - Tanetris 10:53, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Minister Cho's estate[edit]

I've gotten to the point where I can start Minister Cho's estate mission, but the door after the common area is locked.

iirc, there's an NPC you have to talk to that will start the mission- or maybe there's an "Enter Mission" button on the party window... Its been a while since I played on the island. -elviondale (tahlk) 18:18, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
If by common area you mean outpost, then you do have to use 'enter mission.' I think the door opens after you complete the mission, making it like an explorable area.--Chaiyo Kaldor 03:25, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Code 103[edit]

Hello, My son downloaded the game Guild Wars "Eye Of the North" onto my computer while visiting this weekend. The game would not give him xtra slots to make new characters or display the picture and campaigns for the "Eye of the North"?? It keeps giving the error "code 103"- Is this program only good at his home computer?? Should we buy a new access key?69.225.221.203 23:43, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

A code 103 error means the key is already in use. Contact the support team and see if you can sort it out with them. --Ember Silvermoon 23:49, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Also, Eye of the North does not include any additional character slots. Yukiko User Yukiko Sig.png 00:12, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
And you should note that you don't need to add the key to the game again on a new computer. The game account is stored on the game servers, so all you have to do is to log on with the e-mail and password on any computer that has GW installed on it. And EotN doesn't give new character slots just like Yukiko said. -- Gem (gem / talk) 00:25, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I cant get the drop of a unique items![edit]

I finished the nightfall storyline, playing hardmode now and also doing prophesies.I NEVER had a single drop of unique item.more than that i look up on wiwki, found the bosses who drops them and tried to kill them a few times.Never got anthg.Anybody had the same issue and what can i do about it.Cause that means no un weapons for me????????????????????

Getting a green drop while playing the normal storyline is not something you expect, mainly because there are no green drops during missions, where you spend most of your time. You also need to consider that the bosses do not always drop a green weapon. In fact, you need to kill one boss many times to get a drop, even if you are killing him alone. Having other players or heroes&henchmen in your party further reduces your chances to get one. If you really want a green, try going for a green farming build and killing bosses solo. --Xeeron 13:02, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
It's just bad luck. Most green weapons are pretty rare drops so you might have to kill a boss dozens of times if you are with a full party to get the item. If you can solo the bosses you might get them pretty soon. -- Gem (gem / talk) 13:03, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
ive been playing guildwars for over 2 years now, done all campaigns, done lots of hard mode, done elite missions, fow, uw, and ive never got a black dye. It's all chance, so keep trying i guess.Kh1ndjal 16:52, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Coming from a retired green collector who collected around 380 different greens, there are some good, general suggestions above. To add to them, definitely find a build that can solo a boss. You will have to work on different classes, as sometimes only one main profession can solo a boss effectively. If you can't solo a boss, try using a single hero to help. Gurus farming section is a great resource to find ways to farm a boss if you can't figure out one to your playstyle. Use any special events, such as double/triple drop rate from Guild Wars to farm greens at that time. I think I got 50 different Elonian greens during one of those weekends for my collection. Remember to switch it up. Don't solo/non-solo a boss more than 10 times in a row. Go on to another.
Another fun little trick I used to do was to use the flag option to move hench back. Kill everything around the boss, then move the hench back far enough to where their names were grayed out. Go in and solo the boss. It's been so long, I'm not sure if that has been nerfed or not.
Farming greens, just like acquiring titles, etc, takes time and patience. — Gares 17:36, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

My account has been suspended[edit]

When i tried to log on today, the game notafied me that my account has been suspended for "using a unacceptable name". Unfortinatly, i am unable to recieve my mail at this time, so i ask here to know to what does that refer to? Is it the name of one of my characters or something i told someone that was found innapropriate, i want to know this to solve the problem once i'm able to re-enter the game.

The name of the account is <<removed>> One of the character names is Imhotep the Doctor (if it helps in any way).

It sounds like the name of the character is what was found offensive. From what I've heard, either the offending character will be deleted or you will be forced to change the name to play it. --Thervold 17:22, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

gate of madness[edit]

why do you have to kill shiro and lich lord in gate of madness mission? what are they doing there?

When they were in the mortal realm, they were touched by Abbadon for power. That's why there's a mission close to the Lich called Abbadon's Gate. Anyways, anyone touched by Abbadon goes down to the Realm of Torment to prevent Abbadons power from spreading.--§ Eloc § 13:54, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

alliances are independent of factions. your guild will be able to join, but you will have to assign to their faction, too, and your members who own factions will play alliance battles on that side. corrections, please, if is said something wrong. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.jpg 20:20, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
(edit conflict) The guild leader needs to declare the guild's faction before you can be invited into an alliance. This can only be done in the factions' respective capitals, Cavalon and House zu Heltzer, so the Factions campaign is required for that. It's possible to temporarily designate someone with access as guild leader, have them declare allegiance, and step down. Of course, make sure this person is some one you can trust for this. --Valshia 20:22, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Do you have to shut down you're firewall to play guild wars?

No, you should be able to play. Readem Hate Mail Goes Here 03:27, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

you should not have to shut it down but you need to open up the ports that GW requires (TCP/UDP Port 6112). It really depends on the type of router/firewall you have...you may need to allow GW.exe access to the firewall as well. Do a google search on your firewall/router and add the words guild wars with it and see what pops up.--Coridan 12:20, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
More than likely, you won't have to open up ports on your router at all. Windows itself will ask you what you want to do with the program trying to get out on the internet- click unblock. -elviondale (tahlk) 12:28, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Unique Weapon Values[edit]

How do you know the true val--Thervold 20:33, 26 September 2007 (UTC)ue of green unique weapons dropped by bosses? at merchant npcs the price is ridiculously low, and surely the price must be higher than the cost of crafting a perfect weapon of the same type, considering that the unique weapons have inscriptions and upgrades applied as well. thank you...

It is purely market defined, or to put it another way, it is worth what someone will pay for it. Various fansites document the values of in game trades to approximate the current trading price. GWW itself does not retain such information as it is often inaccurate and is easily skewed. --LemmingUser Lemming64 sigicon.png 19:56, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
what the item is worth depends on the upgrades it has. they're usually maxed, so it's only their sort that matters. +hp are usually good ones. zealous and vampiric weapons are generally also good (exceptions:hammer, bow). very good weapons are, for example, spears with +5 energy and +30hp: those are used by monks often. zealous daggers with +30hp and 15^50 (+15%dmg above 50%hp) or while enchanted are also popular. +15%dmg while hexed, on the other side, are not that good, because you can't make sure someone hexes you, so the bonus isn't ensured. - Y0_ich_halt Have a look at my page 20:23, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
I just wish the vend values were a bit closer to equivalent gold drops. Sometimes, you find greens that you just can't sell. I had two Amiresh's Piety that I couldn't even sell for 1k. Key Not Recognized From Old Account[edit]

Hello. I'm hoping someone can help me.

I bought a retail copy of Guild Wars when it was first released. It's been quite a long time since I played it, so I'm guessing somewhere like two years. I dusted off my old CD's and re-installed the game today. I honestly can't remember my old account login but I tried several of the ones that I would likely have used. They all said that they were invalid email addresses. That didn't surprise me as I've changed my email several times in the past two years.

So instead I tried to open a new account, but unfortunately the game told me that the key is already in use. I've never shared it, but it makes sense that I was given that message as I used it when I bought the game originally.

Logging into my PlayNC account (I have an account with City of Heroes (inactive) and Tabula Rasa (currently in the beta) registered) showed no Guild Wars registered.

I'm a little lost as to how to play the game now? I can't use my key, I can't play on my old account, and I can't register a new account because the key is in use.

On a final note - in desperation I typed an old email address that I thought I might have been using around that time and hit reset password and it told me that a new password was being sent to that email address! Only - I cancelled that email address quite some time ago. So if that was the right account I just locked myself from ever getting in.

Any advise? Please help as all these new Guild Wars titles coming out has inspired me to play again but I can't. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:99.226.179.85 .

Keys are tied to accounts (i.e. the email and the password), that's why you can't create a new account using the old key. The only thing you can do is to get help from ArenaNet via Support. As doing the quest to kill a demon with the MoW but had to quit before entered the castle.

Now no active quests shown in my log nr can I find the MoW so unable to get into the castle.

From what you've given, it sounds like you were attempting To Kill a Demon. It seems unusual that you wouldn't have the quest or Master of Whispers before entering. My suggestion would be to move back a step or two to see whether or not they've actually recorded you doing that quest completely. Try meeting MoW in Jahai Bluffs again to start Secrets in the Shadow, the quest preceding to Kill a Demon and see whether that solves the problem.
If MoW doesn't show up in Jahai Bluffs, try and see if you can meet up with him in the Floodplains of Mahnkelon, which is where To Kill a Demon begins, and see if the quest restarts at that point. Hope this helps. --Ember Silvermoon 12:22, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Travelling to Kaineng[edit]

I have a Proph character that has gone as far as Lions Arch and then travelled to Kamadan. I now seemingly cannot unlock the quest from Funwar Shento to go to Kaineng, (he just introduces himself). I also have the quest 'Chasing Zenmai' but cannot progress this either. I have tried for 3 weeks to go everywhere and progress everything but I'm still stuck. This is the last shot in the dark before I delete the character and start again. Thanks

To travel to Kaineng, you need to take the quest Mhenlo's Request from Firstwatch Sergio in Lion's Arch. According to the wiki page, only Elonian characters can use the quest in Nightfall to get to Kaineng, Prophecies characters need to go to Lion's Arch. - anja talk 09:37, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Hit F10 and lower all your graphics and sound quality to as low as they go. Also, make sure you have nothing else running in the background (such as Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, Windows Live Messenger, etc.)--§ Eloc § 19:14, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
What exactly is your ping? And if it's so bad that it disconnects, your connection is the problem, not the game. -- ab.er.rant sig 19:55, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
Do you meet the hardware requirements? -- Gordon Ecker 01:43, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
