Wiki page Heading font color

I've tried all the ways that i know to change font color, but I can never get my titles to change. Can anyone tell me how to do this? --I Sasuke Uhchicha I 17:47, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

diff is being bæd!

When I hit [diff] revisions or whatever it's really called, it stretches the text way past the little green/orange block. Unlike when this normally happens when some user does

this

without thinking about the consequences, I can't even scroll right to find the text. Now, instead of getting the concise changes I'm used to, I have to use the log as a way to get a general idea of what's changed and, y'know, actually read people's comments.  :/ I hate that. Editing another user's userpage

My friend and guild mate doesn't know how to spiff up his page. I asked him if he would like me to help him. Before i started working on it I just wanted to check to see if it is okay to work on his page for him. So is it allowed? --I Sasuke Uhchicha I 02:45, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Yes. Just be aware that such actions are sometimes questioned, particularly if you start blanking pages. It can be cleared up pretty easily, though. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 02:58, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
A good idea is to always use the edit summary below the edit box to explain your edits. That should give passers-by the info needed to AGF.--Fighterdoken 03:23, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
To me, a user page is not to be edited by anyone other than the user except in certain situations. One of them is to remove blatant violations of accepted policy (not guidelines, policy). The other one is if the person whose page it is gives permission to the person doing the editing. 42 - talk 04:24, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
I think a user page can be edited by another with permission. I don't see anything wrong with you helping your friend. :-) -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 04:51, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Green box thing with "updated since my last visit" in history

Hi,

At times I see "updated since my last visit" behind some edits in the history of pages, inside a green box or something (sorry, I can't remember the proper word). What does this mean? Does it have something to do with my watchlist? - Mini Me talk 14:22, 19 November 2009
Example picture: User Mini Me Jkaas.JPG - Mini Me talk 17:48, 19 November 2009

How come I have to use Subst: on my accounts because {{ }} won't work? Why can't you just transclude stuff directly in common/monobook etc. .js & .css? -- My Talk Lacky 09:03, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Because when the file is loaded into your browser, the raw code is used; otherwise it would have to run the parser each time just in case someone used templates or parser functions, and it would make custom code quite confusing as you would need to take care that you don't accidentially use code the parser would parse. poke | talk 13:41, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

Honestly though, I'd suggest just playing around with things at first. User pages don't have to be complex to be useful (mine has always remained rather simple), and as you explore you can always ask others for help if you get an idea that you can't figure out how to make it work. Guild page

Hi all, i'm new to the wiki (you are doing a GREAT job).

I have a question about my guild's page: Guild:I_Paladini_(historical) I noticed that it was moved to historical, but the guild still exists and it is active. In order to restore the page for the guild, should I edit the historical page or I have to create a new guild page?

Thank you very much, --Beren78 08:32, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

No, don't create a new page, simply use the Move tab at the top and move it back to Guild:I Paladini. Then change the {{Historical guild}} tag at the top to {{guild}}. To keep this from happening in the future, I would recommend you add your guild page to your Watch list. Guild pages have to be edited once every 3 months to keep from being tagged as inactive. If you put it on your watch list, you will know when it gets tagged (in 3 months) and by simply removing the inactive tag, you then give yourself another 3 months. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 08:50, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Some images won't load

I can't get certain images on the wiki to load. Some are even ones I have uploaded. I use Firefox 3.0.15 and have tried ctrl+F5 and clearing the cache, but it does not change anything.

For example: Pain Hungry Gaki and Discharge Enchantment, there is simply a space where the picture should be. I can see it in Internet Explorer, however.

A few of the images I've uploaded, like Dwayna's Cursed I see the former picture, but stretched to the size of the image I uploaded. Both on the monster's page and file page. It is the same in Internet Explorer.

I don't even care that much about the former cases, but I'd really like to be able to check how the pictures I upload look on the wiki. Thank you for any help. Manifold 04:37, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

All three pages you have linked are working fine for me. You might want to try clearing your browser cache (ctrl+F5 on most browsers). -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 04:40, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
It also seems by your duplicated post, you might be having some connection issues which can lead to this. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 04:41, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Dwayna's Cursed seemed to be only a temporary problem, but I haven't been able to see the Gaki picture for months. And as I said, I've tried ctrl+F5. Many times over months. And I'm sorry about the double post, I had too many torrents going and lost my connection right around when I pressed Save page. Manifold 21:38, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Have you tried to go in and delete your temporary internet files, cookies, etc. cleaned all that up? Sometimes that has helped me on sites. -- User Ariyen sig icon.gifriyen 21:49, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I've deleted my cookies and cleared my cashe (temp internet files). I do notice now that two images that I'm having problems with were also reported by others (a long while ago) to not be working for them. Manifold 01:04, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
Erm, further research shows that the following skills that aren't visible for me also weren't visible for others at some point: Talk:Migraine#Broken_Images, Talk:Arcane_Zeal, Talk:Caretaker's_Charge. Manifold 01:05, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
Please make sure that you disable all ad-blocking programs (anti virus tools etc.) for GWW. Then you should be able to see all those images. poke | talk 01:24, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

taking images from the .dat file?

Not entirely sure this is the right place for this, but I keep hearing you can take images directly from the .dat file. Mostly, I see it in the "Image update needed" category, where the notes will say something like "try to get the image from gw.dat." Anybody got any ideas on how to go about this? Thanks. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 21:17, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

use the GW .Dat browser (i don't have a link on hand, but i'm sure a google search should suffice =p). when you find an image you want just right click "export to" or something like that =). ~ PheNaxKian User PheNaxKian sig.jpg 21:22, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

What is it you're looking for? — PmaN  00:57, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Why not use texmod? ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 01:15, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Not all the icons captured with texmod are the same as the icons from the dat. One other thing Dragon, for it to be in your dat file, you have to have seen it in game, so in the case of the new minis, for example, you have to have seen someone with one of them for it to be in your dat. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 02:07, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
Or to use -image. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 02:11, 14 December 2009 (UTC)
No, -image won't load things like inventory icons. Those are always streamed on demand. On the TexMod issue, TexMod is only able to get the textures, after they were applied, so there could be effects added to the images before.

Images posting

Hello. I would like to know the following: - Is there a per-user limit as to how many user pictures we can post with regard to their sizes ? Is there a related rule of conduct ? - If there is a per-user limit, is there a way for us to monitor it other than by looking at our contributions ?

Yseron - 81.251.149.80 01:39, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello. There is no picture size or amount limit, but you DO have to be a registered user to have userspace images.
Keep in mind that if admins think a picture is a lot larger than it has to be, they may delete it or crop it to make it smaller. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 01:43, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Changing user name on this wiki

I'm sure I'm not alone here. How does one go about changing one's username so that it's no longer a character name? It probably doesn't matter because (a) it's not like it's linked to the rest of my login information, and (b) it's all over the place so is hardly a secret anyway, but I'd still like to be able to change it. Please can someone reply with details of who I need to contact or what I need to do to get it changed, if indeed it's even possible. Thanks. -- Smarty 11:44, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

It's pretty easy. You just create a new account and request for your old one and the new one to be merged together at Guild Wars Wiki:Requests for user merge. User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 12:00, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

What should I do when moving image types? For example, I wanted to use a png for transparency, so I moved: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Raw_Amber_Chunks.jpg to http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Raw_Amber_Chunks.png . How should I make this move regularly (since I can't just upload a "png" to the old file, the wiki wouldn't let me do that. Thanks... -- Chrono (talk) User Chrono007 sig.png 23:47, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Existing and new user pages

Althought it would be common sens to not expose any character names on user pages or on any other pages if you are extremely cautionous, is there a warning that tell people that there is a potential threat to have those character names in their user pages ? Yseron - 90.14.230.236 21:27, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

This is crazy. People have listed their usernames for a long time and will continue to. The chances of "the hackers" having your email/password and character name is slim to none. Hell they have legitimate account owners out of their accounts for the simple reason of not remember a characters name or exactly how to spell it.
