character deletion

Dear reader, I deleted my characters a long time ago (I guess a year or 2) Is an undeletion possible? Thanks for the help, greetings.--145.53.242.71 13:52, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Deleted characters can never be 'undeleted'. --Arduinna talk 14:11, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Lag??

uhh hi. guild wars lags a TON on my computer. if i get more RAM (Random Access Memory), will it lag less? i have 512mb RAM right now and im upgrading to 2gb. Thanx, Roheeb. --72.74.105.140 21:44, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it should. Dominator Matrix 22:04, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Thanx. Will it get rid of it completely do u think?
Maybe not. It will certainly help and the game should run better. But you still may have some lag depending on your processor, GFX card and internet connection.- TheRave talk (talk) 22:38, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Depends, what kind of lag are you getting? The screen's all jumpy and the animations suck and when you try to alt-tab it takes twenty minutes kind of lag, or the kind of lag where you click a skill and it doesn't activate for 20 seconds? If it's the first one, probably. The second, no. If it's the second, call your ISP and tell them to give you more bandwidth. Preferably loudly. --Jette User Jette awesome.png 22:39, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Nah its the first one, where its all jumpy, and when u try to turn around it stays there for like 2 minutes frozen, then whatever u typed or clicked while it was frozen, happens and completely messes up what you were trying to do. So im hoping this will fix it. --72.74.105.140 23:03, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

A new spankey GFX card will help ALOT too. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 00:44, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

THANX, i am the guy who posted the Lag question, and the new RAM helped a TON! too bad my graphics card got me stuck in Wehhan Terrace! Ya, if anyone reads this, umm if you don;t have a reccomended graphics card, don;t go to wehhan terrace. your graphics card will kick you off every time u try to go there, and since im there, i cant log onto that character. very inconvenient. its good my friend has guild wars. Account accidently trial-access key

Hello

I have a problem on my account.I accidently put the trial code on my account when I created it, then 2 days later i found where the real access key card was, you had to rip it to find it.Then when i found it I was like oh i should put it on my account, so i put it on my account and the 14 day trial was up in about 12 days and then GW said i couldnt play because my 14 day trial is up but I put the access key card in so I think i should be able to play. PPPPLLLLLEEEEAAASSSSSEEEE HHHHEEELLLPPP!!!!! Please help me out. --72.240.47.242 16:55, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

If you are sure you have entered a valid full (not trial) key to your account and its still not working the best thing to do is to contact support.- TheRave talk (talk) 17:05, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
Please be aware that there are several different "versions" (i.e., campaigns) of GuildWars, and an expansion. If you, for example, added a Factions trial key to your account and made a character in the Factions campaign, but then added a real Prophecies access key to your account, you will not be able to play your previously-created Factions character unless you buy the Factions campaign and add that access key to your account (Note that this is just an example and you can substitute any other campaign name for the ones I've used in this example). You would still be able to create a character in the other campaign you added to your account (just choose a blank character slot and make a new one), UNLESS your real access key is for GuildWars: Eye of the North, which is the expansion, and therefore does not allow you to create any new characters in it. I hope that helps! --Dragon nataku 03:41, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Two accounts on one computer

Hi

Is it possible to log in to two accounts on one computer? By this i mean two clients, and being able to play with each, as for computer specs, im sure mine can handle it Thanks in advance. --Tryx3 03:26, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Long story short: yes. There are a couple of different ways to do so, but NONE of them are supported by Anet (I believe Gaile Gray called it the "If it destroys your hard drive and breaks your refrigerator, don't call us" policy). So if you try one of them and you mess something up, official support will not help you. But the two ways I know that allow you to do this are: 1) messing with your registry (not recommended if you don't know what you're doing), and 2) using a third-party program like GWx2 to run two copies of the client. --Dragon nataku 03:36, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
Do you know if the GWx2 program is not infested with something?--Tryx3 07:35, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
We make no claims of the safety of any 3rd party program. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 07:47, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
Yeah... I'm gonna go ahead and tell you that unless the person who runs the website has lost his mind and put twenty different viruses inside it, it's safe. But I can't guarantee you that hasn't happened, so you're still on your own. If it steals your account and kills your family there's nothing anyone can do.
Screwing with the registry, however, is perfectly safe insofar as you know what you're doing, because you do it all yourself. If you do it wrong, though, your computer may explode. I had that happen to a laptop once, it killed twenty people a few minutes after I left the room to get a drink. --Jette User Jette awesome.png 08:10, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
Personally, I've been using GWx2 since January. Of last year. Still have my accounts intact, nothing stolen. But as Wyn said, don't blame us if something happens, cause something always has a chance of happening. --Dragon nataku 16:22, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Harassment

There are some people that have been threatning, spamming, and harrassing me saying they are going to come to my house and hurt me and my children. Calling me a whore etc. Telling me I better hide because the have ppl after me or the army, they have told me they will continue to harass me and will not stop and use various names/accounts. I dont know why they are doing this, but are saying thaey are doing it because of another person told them to. The people who were harrassing me are the following people: A Pvp Necro Beast of Illusions Big Motha Z Causing Goosebumps- main harrasser Death Slash It was very disturbing to me because they knew personal information about me, I recently had a falling out with a team mate.I left my guild because of a person being rude and made me feel uncomfortable. I am quite worried about this. Please get back to me I have emailed this situation with more information but no one seems to be doing anything,I will not let this go. It was kind of scary untill I realized it was someone being terribly cruel, and its sickining if you ask me - there should be a more appropriate link on your website to report these things- alot of my gw friends agree, thats why most ppl do not report these crimes because they cant find where to report it. thank you very much and apreciate your attention to this matter. pls get back to me for more information. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:72.136.15.171 (talk).

This page is for support from other players. You should definitely open an official ticket with support, and possibly contact Gaile Gray, the support liaison (link above), to escalate it if the response is not sufficient. Hi,i got an problem with my account. My problem is that my account got deleted from Hotmail because I didn't use it for much of time. Can I change my account? Or do I have to buy Guild Wars again? Please answer as fast as possible. Thanks.

Errr... your account is just a user name in a way. As long as you still have the password and the account address you can log in. You can indeed apply to ncsoft though to change the account name to an active account if you so wish, but its not necesarry if all you want to do is continue playing gw. -- Salome User salome sig2.png 01:39, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Installing Guild Wars

1. I have recently purchased a second hand copy of Guild Wars Special Edition, but have not found a Activation Card or Code with the boxed items.

I did have the activation card/code with the new copy of Factions I purchased earlier.

Am I therefore unable to use the Special Edition ?

Regards, Ian Stage--86.131.224.247 15:27, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

If the copy is second hand it is likely the activation code has been used. Each activation code can only be used once therefore you can't use a second hand copy of guild wars. sorting characters on the character screen

i have 9 characters on my account. the one i play most is in the middle. is there a way i can manually put that character 1st.

Nope. ANet's goal is to make the game as frustrating as possible for you to play, so naturally they wouldn't add a customizable sort feature. -Auron 12:31, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
In the top left of the character selection screen is a feature that will let you choose between three modes of sorting. It is however not possible to sort your characters manually. WhyUser talk:Why Are We Fighting 17:52, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Moving GW to new computer

What do I need to do to properly move GW from my old computer to my new computer and still keep my character level, quests finished etc. Thanks

All character information is stored on ArenaNet's servers. You just need to reinstall and log in. --Dunyas User Dunyas sig.png 01:38, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Any build templates you have saved, however, are on your hard drive, and not the Anet servers. They should be in your GuildWars folder under "Program Files," if you're using Windows. Vista, however, puts them elsewhere ( hard drive (usually C) -> Users -> (your user account name) -> Documents -> Guild Wars -> Templates). Make sure you transfer those over if you wish to keep them. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 02:16, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
As the others said, all your data is stored at ArenaNet (except build and interface layout), you just need to install the files you need to run GW on your computer (by putting the disc in, or downloading the installer from the website). One way you will vastly decrease your download time is if, when the game starts "Downloading files" during install, or something like that, cancel the installation, and copy the Gw.dat file from your old PC's Guild Wars folder to your new PC's Guild Wars folder. Then run the setup again - this prevents it needing to re-download all the files that you already had on your old PC. Other than that, you just need to copy over your builds as Dragon said above. Well, sometimes a lot of the characters in the key look very much alike (i.e., 0 and O, B and 8, I and 1, etc.). I've mentioned several times here that I had to enter one of my access keys about fifteen times cause of the similar-looking characters. Perhaps this is happening to you, as well? Just a suggestion. --Dragon Nataku talk to me 19:28, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

hi i downloaded the 14 day trail while i awaited the real game to come in the mail. I was wondering, when i put in my acess key, will i still gte to keep and play the character i created on the trial version or do i have to start with nothing? also, when i put in my key, do i put it under "upgrade your existing account" because of the trial, or "create a new account" because its not an "official" as it is a trail. please help x --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:88.109.19.249 (talk).

First, please do not ask the same question twice. :P
Well, you can either upgrade your trial account to a full account (and keep using the same character you've created) or start a brand new account (and start from scratch).
If you want to keep your progress, I would suggest you to upgrade your existing (trial) account.
To do so, just use the "upgrade your existing account" you've mentioned before (make sure you're logged into your trial account before you upgrade it).
Also, please sign your comments by typing 4 tildes (~~~~) after it. --NIN37 18:45, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Short answer: Nope.
Once a key is used to create a new account, it is gone and can't be used again.
