[edit] Arenanet licensing terms

So based on my understanding of the little description of the licensing terms of images which are categorized as arenanet images, editing them isn't allowed, right? Which means these images violate the license, right? Or am I missing something here? Ryuu - talk 01:55, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

They can be edited (if they are renamed) but will retain the ArenaNet license as derivative works. -- Wyn talk 02:11, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Ah, okay. Thanks Wyn. Ryuu - talk 02:12, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] More template hunting

Are there any custom boss-box templates for users? Let me show you what I mean. And while we're at it, did the Boss one I'm using kill my table of contents?-- anguard 15:27, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] User boxes

Is there a list somewhere? Ramei Arashi 16:17, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Not really. Just hunt down people's UBX pages and go nuts with the theft.-- anguard 16:21, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
There's Category:User box templates. - J.P.ContributionsTalk 16:40, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. BTW guess whole I borrowed my first ones from? Ramei Arashi 17:04, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Boy are my cheeks red.-- anguard 16:46, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
You can find a lot of them on User:Seru/User box templates (it's a little out of date, but you can see what they look like). -- Wyn talk 16:49, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Is there a survivor one? Or a fan of FOW one? My guild spends a lot of time doing FOW. Ramei Arashi 17:40, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
You can pretty easily make your own one using {{userbox}}. Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 14:27, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
I suggest stealing them off of wikipedia. It's like pirating mp3s, nobody really cares that you do it and it's fun! There's a userbox for basically anything over there. I think there's one guy with a pedophile one. —Jette 19:25, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
I've made a couple. Ramei Arashi 20:29, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Typing error in file name

I uploaded a screen capture of my guild's cape, but I got an extra letter in the file name. Is there anyway to rename the file? Ramei Arashi 19:11, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

I helped you move your image to the correct name. You will be able to move pages when your account is auto-confirmed, which is after your account is a certain number of days old and have a certain amount of edits. --Silver Edge 19:44, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Thank you. Ramei Arashi 01:32, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] changing text size

Is there away to change text size? I want to put my name Ramei Arashi on my page in larger text than the default but can't figure out how. Ramei Arashi 20:32, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] New feedback portal

OK, so I see a game suggestions heading, but what about game questions? In this case I'm not talking about stuff that the general public can answer (there's already a part of this wiki devoted to that), but things that would be more something we'd direct to ArenaNet — especially pertinent at the moment with all the GW2 news and people asking "does abc mean xyz?" and the like. Of course we're pretty much at ArenaNet's mercy regarding whether they'll even answer, but I'm curious as to where such things should even go. ArenaNet employees' talk pages, as before…? Or should it be considered a "suggestion"? --Sirius (talk) 04:16, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

ANet employee talk pages now automatically redirect to the Feedback namespace, so just post there. —Jette 04:26, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) They go where they have always gone, in the case of GW2 questions, they go on Regina's talk page. Guild wars questions that require direct response from Anet can go on either Regina's page, or Linsey's talk page. As long as you are not proposing a change (making it a suggestion) then asking the staff is fine. Keep in mind that PAX starts tomorrow, and they are all rather wrapped up in that atm, but after the weekend, things should settle down a bit. -- Wyn talk 04:29, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
Noted. And yeah, if I could be at PAX I would just ask someone there... but not this year. :( --Sirius (talk) 04:00, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] How to create a page

ugh i really am so confussed right now. i would like to creat a page but the help section doesnt help me at all, even though iv been over that page tons of times i still dont even know how to get a link in x_x --Darknesses mist 20:11, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Images at the background of tables

Is there any way to make an image to appear at the background of a table? Like the Arena Net logo was at the background of the Feedback space: not repeating the image over and over through the table, but rather it being visible once. Erasculio 13:07, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, relative positioning. poke has instructions somewhere in his sandbox history. -- Wyn talk 20:21, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
Actually, I'm trying to find a way to add an image to the background of a table (which is what I really don't know how to do), without relative positioning; I meant for the image to appear one time at the background, instead of appearing at the background of each cell. Erasculio 00:08, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Can't be done without relative positioning. <edit> See User:Wynthyst/Sandbox/table background. -- Wyn talk 00:12, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] How to Make a Userbox

I am just curious on how to make your own user boxes, I haven't been able to find the page on it, I have reasonable HTML skills so it's not an issue there.

Any assistance? Edit: How do I add an Image to it? --Dervashah 06:30, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Guild page.

I have finished creating my allaince's guild pages but when I scroll down to our "alliance" box for the head branch all the names are blacked out (and unclickable). But, when I go to one to the guild's in our alliance's page it shows all of the names blue and ready to be clicked (basicly, they are linked like how it's supposed to be). Anyone wanna explain or help me out? Here are 2 links to help yousee what I am talking about: here (head guild) and here (branch guild "A").

Thanks in advance. --24.126.139.224 02:59, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

It appears to be working fine. -- Wyn talk 03:03, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Ok, weird. After refreshing+clearing my cache about 30 times it just now randomly started linking to other guilds like it was supposed to be doing from the beginning. No answer needed anymore. <_< --24.126.139.224 03:05, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it is working fine now, Wyn. Thanks for the almost-needed help. :P --24.126.139.224 03:06, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Assassin Skill, Dash (quest reward)

Wiki lists "Dash" as being a quest reward. There is no link to what quest gives these rewards on the main lists. How do I find what quest gives Dash as a reward on this site? It doesn't appear to be included in the "skill reward" page either. "Assassin skills" shows it is a skill received from a quest. There doesn't appear to be a link, keyword, hint, etc, on how to find this information. Thank you for your time. --98.226.58.246 06:30, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

It is a skill that is unlocked for Factions characters doing the Assassin primary/secondary profession quests on Shing Jae. You get it from the profession changer at Senji and GtoB when you unlock Assassin as your secondary. -- Wyn talk 06:53, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
or any skills guy in factions, right? ♥ Ariyen ♀ 07:08, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
Darn Assassin is my main profession, so it looks like I have to pay the 1k for it. I appreciate the answers though, as for the skill trainers, yes tons sell it but I saw it was given out as a reward, so I held off getting it thinking that I had just missed the quest. Knowing that main profession: Assassin does not receive it at least proves I am not crazy. Thank you both again so much. --98.226.58.246 07:15, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
you could buy an assassin tome and obtain it that way too. ♥ Ariyen ♀ 07:48, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
You have to have Assassin as primary or secondary profession to buy it from a skill trainer. You get it free if you change your secondary to Assassin at Senji's Corner, or GtoB. You have to have it unlocked on your account either by using Balthazar faction or getting it with a different character to use a tome. -- Wyn talk 07:56, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] fire imp

how do I get the summoning stone for the fire imp? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:68.191.159.23 (talk).

You have to own a specific version of Guild Wars. See Igneous Summoning Stone. -- Wyn talk 12:15, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Moving sections and old Skill feedback section

When moving a section of a talk page using the {{move|to|???}} and {{move|from|???}} templates, do you move the page to where it would sit chronologically in the new page? Say I (rhetorically) moved a section titled "Gold" from a page about Silver Zaishen Coins, the discussion about the the Gold took place in May 2009. Do I move the Gold discussion to the new page and place it at the end of the current talk page, or slot it in chronologically into the page (even if that means in an archive)? Hope that makes sense. ~Celestia 01:52, 30 September 2009 (UTC)

Another question (in addition to the above). I've been trying to clean out the List of proposed moves, splits and merges (someone has to do it) but given that the old feedback section cannot be edited anymore, I cannot merge the pages. The pages cannot go to the new feedback section due to licensing, etc, and they cannot be merged or have there tags removed. I did edit it a few days ago, but now it seems that they can no longer be edited. How do I proceed now? Do I need to notify an admin and ask them to remove the tag and/or merge the pages? Thanks ~Celestia 10:36, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Nicholas the Traveler

How do I report the current whereabouts of Nicholas the Traveler?

[edit] Indent

How do I do an indent, like in a paragraph, but one that doesn't shift the whole body of text? de Kooning 00:08, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Care to explain a bit? You are talking about something different than just putting ":" at the start of the paragraph, true?--Fighterdoken 00:24, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
For example, in Word you press TAB and it indents, right? But it only indents the first line, not the whole paragraph. Is that clearer? de Kooning 00:26, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
Insert &nbsp ; however many times needed for the size indent you want. -- Wyn talk 02:09, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

You mean like this? It is actually quite easy, look at the code of this section to see how it is done. Now I just need to write a bit more text so that the effect is actually visible. So please do not get mad at me because I'm writing nonsense here (what I am - as of now - not doing yet, but I am not sure how long I can continue writing like this).. Let me try a show preview to see if it is enough already; Yeah, that works fine :) poke | talk 10:45, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Thank for your help. Much appreciated. de Kooning 14:44, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
See, poke always knows more than I do :P -- Wyn talk 15:29, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
It would be quite boring if it wasn't like this :P poke | talk 15:56, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
Maybe a simple template for that would be in order? Roar! Poki#3 (talk) 17:39, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Tanetris took my hat away

So I need a new one. How do I break an image in such a fashion that part of it will appear outside of the image boundaries? In simpler terms, I want a 19x19 pixel image that appears to be taller than it actually is. For an example of the effect I am trying to achieve, though using two images, see near the bottom of my talk page. –Jette 14:37, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Might I suggest trying to work within 19x19? If you resize sophisticated.png down to 17x17, nudge it to the bottom of a 19x19 canvas and stick on a 17x12 version of tophat.png (letting the top 4 pixels be cut off) produces quite recognizable results. A bit easier than trying to redefine "is". - Tanetris 15:22, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
But I want a top hat, not a pork pie hat.  ;_; –Jette 15:49, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Formatting Guide Question

Hiya! I'm a bit of a new user to the wiki, and after finally getting my head around the wikitext and html stuff, I feel ready to start contributing more effectively. I noticed that some of the formatting guides are not present, and I wanted to write one - in particular, the Dungeon Formatting Guide. however, looking around at other ofrmatting guides, I saw that a consensus has to be reached on these kinds of articles in the associated talk pages. The article I'm looking at hasn't had any real contributions for over a year now - so would it be against a policy/guideline for me to go ahead and create the formatting guideline, or should I leave suggestions in the associated talk page? Thanks! User_Lyger_SignatureText.png‎yger talk 13:30, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Feel free to write it up as a {{Formatting guideline|proposal}}. Then place a link to it on Guild Wars Wiki:Requests for comment to bring it to people's attention for discussion. -- Wyn talk 13:36, 30 October 2009 (UTC)
