Hybrid monk

A Hybrid monk makes use of multiple attributes, typically Healing Prayers and Protection Prayers, for maximum flexibility. They are most useful in arenas and low level PvP due to the utility available from a single character. Hybrid monks are also effective throughout PvE.

General Principle[edit]

These monks try to combine the best of two attributes instead of specializing in one; they are used whenever two dedicated healers are not viable. Most commonly, strong Healing Prayers skills are supplemented with Protection Prayers skills in order to mitigate damage while retaining healing power. Hybrids may also combine a smiting build with healing or protection for team support. Any leftover attribute points are allocated to Divine Favor.

A typical build maximizes Healing, Word of Healing, and includes two additional healing skills party- or ally-wide heals. Protection skills include Guardian, Shield of Absorption, or similar single-target prots. Protective Spirit is frequently included, depending on the situation. Condition removal skills (usually from Protection) are common alternatives.

Secondary skills[edit]

There are rarely enough attribute points remaining to fuel a secondary profession, but skills that require few or no points might be helpful, including Glyph of Lesser Energy (for energy management) or Shield Bash (for defense).

Disadvantages[edit]

Hybrids sacrifice specialization for utility and so are weaker than a pure protection or healing monk in either attribute alone. Secondary profession skills also cannot be used as easily without losing the benefits of Divine Favor.
