Bloodstone
From Guild Wars Wiki
The Bloodstones are five shards of a massive stone created by the Gods of Tyria and sealed with the blood of King Doric. They broke the stone into five pieces. Four of which represented the four schools of magic (each represents aggression, destruction, preservation, and denial), and the final piece, the Keystone, was needed to reassemble the Bloodstone. The five pieces were then tossed into the volcano, Abaddon's Mouth. Later, following an eruption, four pieces were spread across Tyria.
The bloodstones are used by the White Mantle to sacrifice the Chosen. When slain, the Chosens' souls are channeled into the soul batteries - structures created by the Mursaat to keep the Door of Komalie, and ultimately the Titans, sealed away. When somebody is killed atop a bloodstone, the environmental effect Curse of the Bloodstone lengthens revival time considerably.
[edit] Known locations
- Abaddon's Mouth - Located in the heart of the volcano. In the Hell's Precipice mission, players kill the Lich Lord in the center of it to end his reign. Its runic design and key importance for powering the Door of Komalie suggest it may be the Keystone.
- Bloodstone Fen - This Bloodstone is visited in the mission of the same name, in which players witness Justiciar Hablion killing Chosen atop it.
- Bloodstone Caves - The Bloodstone is in the heart of the Bloodstone Cave located below the south coast of Kryta, in the strip to the left of the Southern Shiverpeaks named the Sparkfly Swamp. It is only accessible after passing the inscripted passages guarding its power. The dragon prophet Glint says that the White Mantle were planning on sacrificing Evennia and Saidra on it.
[edit] Notes
- It is likely that the final piece is elsewhere on the continent of Tyria; however, there have been many rumors that it is below the Harvest Temple in Cantha
