The Mehtani Keys is situated at the southeastern end of Istan and is dotted with cays, small islands, and sandy beaches. There is a small Istani fishing village in the northernmost island, but overall, this area is populated by many unfriendly skale, hidden mandragors, and hostile plants. It is also frequented by corsairs engaged in shady dealings or as a good staging area from which to launch raids into Istani settlements.

Getting there[edit]

Characters will likely come here for the first time as part of the primary quest Isle of the Dead, which can be acquired after completion of the Jokanur Diggings mission.

Secondary quests that lead to this area from other locations include the Cyclone Palace, Corsair Invasion, and Double Dog Dare.

Shrines[edit]

Resurrection shrines with bounties

1 In normal mode, bounties are offered only to characters whose Sunspear rank is still below 6.

2 In normal mode, these bounties are unavailable to characters whose level is above a certain level, possibly 15.

Objects[edit]

  • Treasure Chest (there is one on the southwestern island, by the marooned ship)

Notes[edit]

  • Complete exploration of this area contributes approximately 2.3% to the Elonian Cartographer title track.
  • Vanquisher runs of this area without active quests require defeating around 246 foes. Including quest influences, it has been reported to range from 210 to 281 foes.
    • Anti-melee skills are useful here as there are many warriors and dervishes in this area.
    • There are several random spots of hidden mandragors: northeast from the exit into Kodlonu Hamlet, the first island southwest from that exit, bottom of the bridge leading to the northern island, and the northeastern corner.
    • The Lone Raider quest gives you four additional allies that could be somewhat helpful to vanquishing this area.
    • The Cyclone Palace quest in particular will produce a lot more skale spawns.
Bug Bug.The resurrection shrine that summons Lyssa's Muse in the village on the northernmost island has a statue depicting Balthazar.

Trivia[edit]

  • The Monuments of Nahlah and Dahlah can be seen at the southwestern and the southeastern corner respectively. They appear to be remnants of the first kingdom and resemble the structure shown in the Istan loading screen.
  • By the Treasure Chest on the southwestern island is a shipwreck and a block of jade. Based on Jatoro Musagi's dialogue, that ship was most likely the ship Jatoro was on, carrying jade from Cantha, before being waylaid by corsairs.
  • After killing Commander Werishakul and his group in the corsair-ridden area to the southeast, the nearby Istani Commoner and the two young children, presumably held prisoners, will run toward the ship at the dock and disappear.
  • In the northeast corner near Ajamduk, there are several low sandy islands where only shallow water is shown on the map.
