"The Northlands" describes all the land north of the Great Northern Wall, which protects Ascalon from the ravages of the Charr. Despite its peaceful, idyllic appearance, the area north of the Great Northern Wall is a dangerous place, as the Charr reign unchecked as one leaves the relative safety of the Wall behind.

[edit] Notes
- Interactive objects
- Gwen will not follow you into The Northlands.
- It requires 2 people to enter the Northlands (one to open the gate, another to run through it), unless you are able to obtain a Birthday Cupcake.
- Following the main path north, you will find a small outpost named Piken Square. Its not an actual outpost in the game mechanic sense and it has no NPCs.
[edit] Trivia
- If you turn east from the road north to Piken Square, you can travel to the altar, which is guarded by 26 normal Charr and four Bosses. This is the place where the Charr leader Jaw Smokeskin started the Searing. Killing these Charr will not prevent the Searing.
- Even though the Northlands is Charr territory, there is a bit of Ascalonian architecture.
- Additionally, near some of this architecture, you can find a Titan effigy resembling the idols you see in the Eye of the North campaign. The Charr worship the Titans as gods, and this is the evidence of that in pre-Searing.
- As you approach the Shrine where the Searing is cast, the texture of the sky changes to look more like it does in post-searing Ascalon; dark red and purple, with heavy storm clouds visible. The landscape remains the same as in other pre-Searing areas.
