[edit] Notes

  • Damage is armor ignoring, so this skill is great against enemies with high armor that deal high damage, like Wurms and Elementalist Bosses.
  • Damage dealt to the hexed foe is calculated before damage reduction effects such as Protective Spirit.
  • At rank 10, you only need the target foe to deal 57 damage to make the maximum 80.
  • It triggers multiple times if the hexed foe hits multiple targets. For each creature that is hit, Pain Inverter produces a separate packet of damage. As each packet is limited separately by the maximum damage of 80, it is hugely effective against high-damage AoE spells, such as Searing Flames and Earthquake.
  • It is also very effective against damage over time spells, such as Searing Heat and Fire Storm.
  • Does not work against damages dealt by passive skills like Empathy and Backfire.
  • Does work against damage by retaliation skills, like Whirling Defense or Retribution.
  • Increasing the number of allies is also a good way to take advantage of this spell against AoE skills, like bringing minions, Asura Summons, or animal companions.
  • Also very effective in 600/smite farming, and to a lesser degree; 55 farming.
  • The 80 Damage cap can be increased with Intensity and "By Ural's Hammer!".
