"Help" Tharn Stonerift take over Sorrow's Furnace by eliminating some of his rivals.

Quest information[edit]

Requirements[edit]

Enter Sorrow's Furnace without To Sorrow's Furnace sub quests.

Objectives[edit]

  • Find and slay 6 more Stone Summit leaders.
  • See Tharn Stonerift for your reward.

Reward[edit]

Walkthrough[edit]

Find and kill six bosses within Sorrow's Furnace. The quickest way to complete the quest is to kill the two bosses in the same chamber as Tharn Stonerift (Sorrow's Belly), take the southwestern path to the Stone Basilica and kill the two bosses there, and then return to Sorrow's Belly, take the east path, and turn south at the fork to clear out the Iron Arch and its two bosses.

Turning north at the fork and following the sparsely-populated crescent passage (the Gap) leads to another two bosses, which may be a preferable alternative to clearing the more enemy-dense Basilica.

Dialogue[edit]

Initial dialogue[edit]

Tharn Stonerift

"There's only one Dwarf fit to rule this lot, and that's me: Tharn Stonerift. Perhaps ye can help ensure me place at the top of the heap. Ye'll find the Stone Summit bigwigs hereabouts... ye know the type, they're all glowy and such. Take some of 'em out and I'll make it worth yer while."
"What do ye say?"
Yes Accept: "Any excuse to kill...er, help the Stone Summit."
No Decline: "I have no reason to help you."
Ask Ask: "What're ye waitin' fer? The sooner ye start killin' Stone Summit bosses, the sooner I'll be in a position te make yer life easier. Go on, now!"

Reward dialogue[edit]

Tharn Stonerift

"Good job, human. Take this, and I'll see that ye get an extra helping o' slop this evenin'."

Notes[edit]

  • This quest requires killing exactly half of the bosses in Sorrow's Furnace.
    • Any bosses killed before you accept the quest are retroactively counted towards the objective, potentially allowing the reward to be claimed immediately.
    • If a boss is resurrected (e.g. by a Priest of Sorrows), killing him again will not affect the counter.
  • The northwestern boss can sometimes wander into the crushers, providing a free kill.
  • Like many monk NPCs, Tharn can sometimes travel long distances with the party to provide healing, particularly if there is a minion master present. However, this may do more harm than good, since Tharn will also heal and cleanse conditions on enemies, including his supposed rivals.
  • This quest can easily be completed alongside Tasca's Reprise or Subversive Ideas, since both require exploring most of the dungeon.
  • As with other quests offered inside Sorrow's Furnace, this quest is automatically abandoned if you leave the zone.
