Profession changer

Profession changers are NPCs who can change your character's secondary profession. They will only offer to change your secondary profession once you have fulfilled a one-time requirement for each secondary you want to be able to switch to. You must be Ascended to change professions. This requirement is a quest in the Prophecies campaign. In the Factions and Nightfall campaigns, the requirement is simply a one-time fee of 500
per secondary profession. PvP characters are exempt from this requirement.
When changing your secondary profession, note that your character will temporarily lose access to all the skills for the old secondary profession. In return, the skills for the new secondary profession will be made accessible. Skills that your character can no longer access are not lost, they are simply hidden. Whenever you switch secondary professions, any previously obtained skill for that secondary profession will again be visible; this includes elite skills. Also, for rangers, any pet that you may have charmed will not be lost when you switch to something other than a ranger.
You are also able to change your profession by using the drop-down menu on the skills windows, which allows you to choose from all the secondary professions that you've already unlocked. Hence these NPCs are only necessary for unlocking new secondary professions.

When a secondary profession is switched to for the first time (and only the first time), that character automatically gains a small set of skills specific to that new secondary profession. The exact set of skills depends on whether the profession changer is one of those from the Prophecies campaign. Those of the Prophecies gives a smaller set.

- Once a secondary profession's requirement has been met (i.e. quest for Prophecies, gold for the others), that character can freely switch between all the unlocked secondary professions at no cost via the Skills and Attributes Panel in any town or outpost.
