- Assist and protect Prince Rurik as he frees Ascalonians from the Charr in the Ruins of Surmia.
- *BONUS* Extinguish the Charr temple flame.
- *BONUS* Complete the mission in Hard Mode.

- Complete the Base Objective for 15 Zaishen Copper Coins.
- Complete the first *BONUS* Objective for an additional 22 Zaishen Copper Coins.

- "Prince Rurik calls for all brave soldiers to accompany him in rescuing our Ascalonian brethren from Charr captors. Stalwart soldiers can join the prince on the road to Surmia. The Prince must be protected at all costs. For Ascalon!"
- Accept: "I can do that!"
- Decline: "No, I'm way too busy today."
- When asked about quest: "The battle rages on! All able-bodied heroes should hasten to defend those bravely protecting Tyria."
