Skill chaining involves activating two or more skills in quick succession for greater overall effect. Several skills may be used within a short window of time, with each skill complementing the other(s) to maximize the effectiveness of the chain.

For example, a player may have one skill that allows him to simultaneously heal their entire party, and another that halves the recharging time of his next few spells. If everybody in the party is taking light damage as opposed to one player receiving heavy damage, it may be easier for him to cast spells that heal everyone at once, rather than going through each player and healing each one individually. By first activating the skill that grants the players a shorter recharge time, followed by the spell that heals the entire party, he is able to compensate for the relatively long recharge time of such healing spells and is able to keep up with the constant damage all the players are taking. When several skills are used in succession to compensate for another's weakness or to benefits another's strength, the skills will have a drastically greater effect than if each skill was used individually.
