• On 19th January 2007 update, this weapon was introduced as a Heroes' Ascent reward from the winner's chest.
• Prior to the release of the Eye of The North expansion, this was the rarest and most expensive axe in the game.
• The word "Stygian" refers to the mythical river in Greek mythology name Styx. Styx formed the boundary between earth and the underworld, the realm of Hades, god of death. Stygian is an adjective describing items related to the river Styx.
